I bought elderberry tincture!!! Three this time, I am usually too late and miss out. My present to myself 😊. It's so nice to have a garden and dinner video. Yes, Jenn, this is how I like to make my cabbage dinner. However, I never thought to put vinegar in it. I must buy some cabbage. My garden so far only has garlic, onions, radishes, and peas. My asparagus is up and is my garden treat. Nope, I'm not sharing either 😂 nice video thanks for sharing 😊
Oh how I have missed you guys! What a joy it was to come home from work and watch. I love garden season and you have always been a big influence. Thank you!
I always put onions in mine, and they caramelize and add such a fantastic flavor. I can't imagine it without onions! I will try your ACV trick, so thanks for sharing. PS If you put a dry paper towel in your bag of washed lettuce, it absorbs any little droplets of water left over, and makes the lettuce extra crunchy. I can't wait to see your flower bed that you just planted. God Bless You!
I’ve missed your garden and kitchen videos, and listening to your funny home stories. Nobody does them like the Stivers. Stive Tribe! I wish you all well. ❤😊✌🏼
So, if you put a paper towel in the bag with your freshly spun salad greens, it will help keep the greens crispier for a little longer. (A trick I learned from my Mom.) I think planting flowers in the garden (lots of them) is wonderful! And if you stay on top of deadheading the Morning Glory or 4 O'Clocks, they won't be able to become a nuisance. I think it's going to be gorgeous!
I just.put down about 500 ft of weed block. The weeds were needing a whip and a chair last year. It was cray-cray! We are levelling up and putting in drip irrigation and I added a mushroom bed, two raised garden bends for herbs and 4 more apple/crabapple trees. The orchard is up to 10! And we are adding a strawberry mound, along with 20 hybrid poplar for rabbit fodder
So nice to see a doing video!!! Love the gardening, listening to you teach about various garden things, animals, animal care, and cooking. I hope you find joy in filming and can bring more videos to us.
We also don't use any weed fabric. I like the more natural approach. In the late fall the garden beds get cleaned out and all the dead plants go into the compost. Each of the beds gets covered over with a good 5 to 6 inches of shredded leaves then topped off with the chicken poo we collect daily. We then take the last of the grass clippings and place that over the top. Let it sit all winter and turn it in in the late winter early spring. Once that's all turned in we top dress it with about 2 to 3 inches of our homemade compost. We make lots in our suburban backyard with all our kitchen scraps, bones, tree trimmings, animal clean outs, leaves, cardboard, shredded paper, grass clippings and duck and chicken poo as well as some rabbit poo and paper bedding. If it's organic it goes in the compost heaps. For mulching the garden beds during growing season we use all our grass clippings and as well as top that with some wood chips we get for free. Very little weed pressure. Plant intensively helps as well. The soil is rich in organics and the worms are thriving as well as the plants. I'm in the same planting zone as you but a further north and we just planted out the last of the tomatoes, peppers and eggplant as well as the cucumbers. All the cold crops have been going strong for us since March. Squash is going in this week. It's time to sit back, harvest and watch it all grow.
Just wanted to wishJen a Happy Mothers day and to let you know I'm enjoying a hot cup of your Crembrule loose tea ( I know I did not spell that tight but it is rainy and so much so that we're in flash flood warnings. I'm good where I am but there are those that are trying to stay out of the way of 🌪 tornados as well. God has blessed us . My prayer is your families safe journey through this time of year..God's blessings on you all
Have you thought of hanging flower boxes on the wood fencing then trail vining flowers along them…. I tie mine up with crochet scrap yarn….. I grow peas on my fencing and then flowering vines…… Amazon boxes inside a plastic bag make great planters for flowers if you don’t want to hang boxes……
Oh! I’ve missed you guys! I was so excited to see that you posted a new video! Love seeing you guys work in the garden & cook together. Thank you for sharing your lives with us. Lots of love, & God bless!
Even though you had mentioned you were starting to do only shorter videos, I still love these and I’m so happy you put one out. I love seeing the family and your interaction and they’re just so relaxing to watch while I’m working around the house. Thank you for putting yourselves out there!God bless you!
I have missed your videos. I’m happy to see you. I hope you are doing well. Tysm for your channel. I have learned quite a bit about gardening from y’all. 🙏🏻❤️💯✨. WVOG
I have missed watching my favorite family on YT ... thanks for this video. I'm from the south, and we cook ours just like that, but I add onions while I'm cooking the sausage.
That cabbage and kielbasa looks delicious. I just made a favorite of mine, cabbage and ground beef with coco-aminos, garlic, sesame oil (no soy), salt and pepper.I believe it's a version of "crack slaw." I'm going to try your version tonight for dinner. Thanks for sharing!
I have missed these videos. I love my lemon balm and I just bought a comfrey. Hope to get my garden planted this weekend IF it doesn't rain all weekend again.
So. Very happy to see this video. Have missed you guys❤️❤️❤️ I must also tell you that I had a fall in January for which I used my call on the abrasions thankfully not too many because it was winter time and I was covered up but just last Monday I was running after a dog fell in the gravel driveway messed up my right shoulder pretty bad so after a shower put on comfrey Salve, Have to say several times a day and I can say it has helped with the pain because it hurt pretty bad so will be buying many more and giving them out to my families so they know what a wonderful treatment. I also also have to say that it worked on the abrasions on my arms and by God they’re almost gone now. Thank you so very much. Please try to keep coming. We love you guys.❤❤❤
Glad to see you guys and yum that cabbage is in the perfect condition for me now that ACV might not be my cup of tea perse but yum.🤤 Also tysm for doing a gardening video,I'm really missing them. 💖 God bless you guys.
We make something close to that only without sausage age I can’t wait to try yours, you should try ours it’s great when all you have is pasta and cabbage. We chop cabbage smaller and caramelize it we start with the butter too….when it reduced and caramelized we add cooked pasta I add small pasta shells. It’s sweet and delicious we add seasoned pepper and salt.
I'm up here in Hamilton Ohio but I was raised down south and what I like to do with this dish is very similar. Yes you have to have the cast iron pan and you've got to make them a little crispy in butter. Yes!! I have to have the cabbage but I shred it so it's a little more stringy. I've even used it as a replacement for pasta you know their dishes. You can do that by hand or you can use a box shredder or mandolin. I feel safer just using my knife. And of course I do the same for my onions...shredded. Side Question: is there anything that caramelized onions DON'T go with!??? IJS Ultimately, 1 kielbasa gets a head of cabbage and a medium onion, minimum. Additionally, I've been known to add in some little diced potato pieces if I've got some around that need to be used. I've added bell peppers. It can be more or less any combination of those ingredients. Definitely the garlic from the garden along with my own freeze dried crushed red pepper. Bonus**I've even started adding smoked paprika. I'm kind of obsessed with the smoked paprika nowadays!! LOL I put it on everything because it's reminiscent of smoked bacon. Honestly I need to start making my own smoked paprika! I've got quite a collection next to the stove of things that I grow and freeze dry and break down into the size I like and put into mason jars! I agree with chopping all of my foods into smaller bits. It helps with portion control mentally. I also can't stand stabbing my food so I use a spoon for 95% of my meals. Just all the things. I relate to this video! My garden is a beautiful jungle also!
I cook it almost the same, but I sauté onions with the sausage, and add pre boiled cubed potatoes to get brown and crunchy too, Take out the potatoes and sausge, cook down the cabbage, add back the other stuff to warm back up and serve. Sometimes with cornbread.
I planted early too cuz it’s just so hot and my plants in the greenhouse were crying to be planted. So planting is almost finished. Garden is looking lovely
Your plants are gorgeous and lush. Does your Lemon Balm seed itself and become a problem? Mine keeps popping up in new places and wants to take over. Love seeing that Mama toad in your garden! 💕
My family always did saurkraut with kielbasa. I actually been craving that lately.. you guys are looking great .nice to see you all. Happy Mothers Day Jennifer
Oh that looks good, will definitely try this! There are two different ways my grandparents use to make it. First way, cut in 4 quarters and just boil it then when you got your piece cover it in butter & let it melt. 2nd way, which I do, is more like a stewed cabbage. You cut it in small pieces, cover in water and sprinkle a little sugar, and add either diced ham or conecuh sausage, and let it cook down.
i think i said this any months ago, i wish you were my neighbors. this was a perfect dish so im gonna have to try it. love your videos and love the both of you.

I add onions, taters & carrots to my kielbasa & cabbage (& if i dont have cabbage i have substituted brussel sprouts)... sausage stir fry is the best!
