Hi Stivers! I've been following you for 3-4 years. Tonight I used my All American Canner for the first time. Scary! But I watched you and Zack use yours to can ham and beans. I could hear Zacks voice in my head, telling everyone how, step by step. So grateful to you both! I'm a 61 year old widow and this is all so new to me. You 2 gave me the confidence to do these things. Thank you both so much.! God bless you and keep you in all your ways! Keep up the good work! Love ya!
Each time you use it it will get easier and more routine. My biggest issue is hoisting off of the high shelving where I have it stored in the garage. It's heavy. (I'm almost 72). I get a stool and take the lid in the house first. Then I go back for the box with the canner body . I have a glass stovetop which they advise not to use with the canner. It can crack over time by putting all that weight on it with canner, water and jars being canned. I then bring in the hotplate I use to provide the heat to run the canner. It is a double hotplate but I only use one side so a single would work. Soon you'll think nothing of running a quick load when you have a little something extra you want to preserve.
@@crystalshell3253 - Crystal, you can also rinse the lettuce and dry it off a bit. Then place it in a larger Tupperware container. It will last a long time. Same with celery. ♥️🙏🏼♥️

Have you tried a refied bean instead of the tomato sauce with cut up fresh tomatoes and cheese, then add lettuce sliced in thin strips? Hot sauce and chips are optional.
I take elderberry syrup and a fermented garlic clove every day year around, I don’t get sick at all. I’ve taken care of three people with Covid and never got it. Amazing combo ❤️

We wish the freeze dryers were affordable. As a cancer patient who health is declining due to the chemotherapy treatment 7 years ago, trying to eat healthy has proven very expensive. And we haven't been able to grow enough to live off yet. Hoping next year will a lot better. We shall see.

If you are growing your celery and lettuce you can cut and come again, meaning only harvest what you need when you need it. Celery can be growing for 6 months or more and lettuce can be ate until it bolts.
I have a very serious question. We're in Tennessee and we've been having the worst time with flies and mosquitoes. What do yal do for your critters concerning these problems?

I'm enjoying Jed's editing and leaving in the "bloopers"! I tried watermelon in our medium freeze drier and it took close to 70 hours. It was still sticky afterwards so I don't know if I did something wrong or if it needed to go even longer. But yeah, it was a sticky, gooey mess. I also did grapes and let them go over 70 hours. They were a lot more dry but still sticky due to the natural sugar content but they are delicious.
It’s okay to get sick. It challenges that immune system which is needed once in a while. I think in these crazy Covid times, people are so scared to come in contact with germs, and freak out when they get something. We need to be sick once in a while. Like in the OLD days a few years ago. That being said. I just had a two day episode of fever chills and sore feet, which was weird. But here I am. Better for it.
I have yet to hear anyone say anything bad about Kunekunes. I'm looking forward to getting them myself. Do yall have a book you would recommend for learning about proper pig care? I love the way yall interact, it's heartwarming and funny! Thank you for all of the inspiring and encouraging videos, yall are awesome!

I put a paper towel or cloth in my lettuce to keep from browning.
Quick tip to get rid of yellow jackets-suck them into a shop vac with soapy water, works great!

A tip for quicker drying small round fruits. Use a bagel slicer to cut them dozens at a time.
