Chain of memories is actually my favorite spinoff kh game. Aside from the fact that it’s a perfect excuse to have kh on the gameboy, it has a really interesting story and the gameplay is actually pretty fun once you figure it out.

No, it’s just that the original didn’t have voice acting, so they gave it voice acting, which is why Sora’s balls dropped so drastically, im assuming this was made sometime around KH2
I really disliked a lot of the voice acting in this game. I think that the lip sync animations were timed to match the original Japanese performances but were never synced to the English version, so they had the English VAs match their cadence to awkward animations that don’t fit typical English speech patterns. The result is this stilted, unfocused feeling voice performance where most of the lines have unnatural pauses in them that get in the way of smooth sentence flow

For me it's more like the system itself is boring. I beat it on the hardest difficulty (Proud; I think there was no Critical if I'm not mistaken) and even so I never liked the gameplay at all. Running out of cards was too common, so I had to stand like an idiot (while holding a freakin' keyblade, mind you) WHILE I was being attacked by those "trash" heartless (the weakest ones in existence). Then there's Ursula, probably the hardest and most broken boss in the whole game. I have no idea who thought that coming with that boss, in a game where you can actually run out of cards to attack, was a good idea. Also there's the fact that you had to "grind" (sometimes) really specific cards if you wanted to proceed when you didn't have them on you. I just didn't like it. KH was always so "fluid" in its combat, so having an entry where you use cards as if you were in Yugioh instead of attacking like a madman was terrible. It's good that they dropped this weird system and went back to KH's roots; or else they'd have suffered the same fate like Sonic (or maybe not, since Disney is basically rich).

I actually just replayed this on proud mode, and I enjoyed the hell out of it. The attack cards are more complex than they appear (check the journal), and making a proper deck with the right cards for different bosses and purposes is super satisfying. Oh, and Axel murdering Vexen is always brutal, so that’s fun to rewatch.
JSmith18 try this get the fire boost card early and then use firaga as your main deck with fire boost you destroy every boss except for hades and Axel just use blizzaga with blizzard boost for them just remember to have a couple of 0 cards for countering sleights
thegamewin100 Yes! That’s what I used to beat Vexen. I was under the impression that enemy cards could only be used once, so it wasn’t until I got to Twilight Town in this play through that I found out that wasn’t the case. I would basically never use them because I thought I would lose them. I plan on doing another play through after this one is done (still working on Riku) so I can try out different deck styles and utilize the enemy cards I collect.

No, it’s just that the original didn’t have voice acting, so they gave it voice acting, which is why Sora’s balls dropped so drastically, im assuming this was made sometime around KH2

I really disliked a lot of the voice acting in this game. I think that the lip sync animations were timed to match the original Japanese performances but were never synced to the English version, so they had the English VAs match their cadence to awkward animations that don’t fit typical English speech patterns. The result is this stilted, unfocused feeling voice performance where most of the lines have unnatural pauses in them that get in the way of smooth sentence flow

Zeroes themselves are powerful but not OP, the problem is that with some sleights you can permastun everything after you break their cards
For me it's more like the system itself is boring. I beat it on the hardest difficulty (Proud; I think there was no Critical if I'm not mistaken) and even so I never liked the gameplay at all. Running out of cards was too common, so I had to stand like an idiot (while holding a freakin' keyblade, mind you) WHILE I was being attacked by those "trash" heartless (the weakest ones in existence).
Then there's Ursula, probably the hardest and most broken boss in the whole game. I have no idea who thought that coming with that boss, in a game where you can actually run out of cards to attack, was a good idea.
Also there's the fact that you had to "grind" (sometimes) really specific cards if you wanted to proceed when you didn't have them on you.
I just didn't like it. KH was always so "fluid" in its combat, so having an entry where you use cards as if you were in Yugioh instead of attacking like a madman was terrible. It's good that they dropped this weird system and went back to KH's roots; or else they'd have suffered the same fate like Sonic (or maybe not, since Disney is basically rich).

Then you were simply bad at the game. Don't blame the game for your shortcomings, blame yourself. If you learned the game, and you understood it enough, you wouldn't run out of cards and you would enjoy the game.

I actually just replayed this on proud mode, and I enjoyed the hell out of it. The attack cards are more complex than they appear (check the journal), and making a proper deck with the right cards for different bosses and purposes is super satisfying.
Oh, and Axel murdering Vexen is always brutal, so that’s fun to rewatch.
JSmith18 try this get the fire boost card early and then use firaga as your main deck with fire boost you destroy every boss except for hades and Axel just use blizzaga with blizzard boost for them just remember to have a couple of 0 cards for countering sleights
thegamewin100 Yes! That’s what I used to beat Vexen. I was under the impression that enemy cards could only be used once, so it wasn’t until I got to Twilight Town in this play through that I found out that wasn’t the case. I would basically never use them because I thought I would lose them. I plan on doing another play through after this one is done (still working on Riku) so I can try out different deck styles and utilize the enemy cards I collect.
@@JDpwner22 i wish there was a multiplayer successor of sorts to chain of memories as the battle system was good and i felt like it was a waste to not use it again. i hate the map system with a passion though
