@Skullsweets I'm pretty sure clashing would destroy the swords. You've gotta remember, these robots will be doing this for days, likely weeks on end, hitting exactly the same spot every time. They're also more than powerful enough to snap those katanas in half as if they were twigs.

If this was actually two operators or some kind of artificial intelligence actually fighting, rather than a very carefully programmed set of moves, I bet the robots would shatter the katanas before they could do any more than superficial damage to each other.
I believe it is actually possible to do. Programing it would not be that hard, implementing sensors that read the moves of the opponent might be more difficult, but doable. Of course all moves would be predefined since we dont have learning AI just yet( then we will, might as well commit seppuku). As for shattering the swords, well it all depends on the forse applied and the material swords are made of. If you make them strike as hard as humans, then swords will not shatter that easily.
