    I bought the same sawmill a few months ago. I'm really enjoying it. I had this same thing happen with the blade a couple weeks ago. But...Today I made a top beam for my sawmill shed. I have one extension and got a 5X10 at 18'1" in length beam. I also got three 1X12 boards and several half inch slabs from this log. I would recommend this mill to anybody. I love it.

      I have mine dialed in. I wished I had gone bigger, but it does everything it is rated for.

    Nice pine. I like the diesel for the pine pitch. The worst I have is 'green' red cedar that is similar. My hands end up stained and black every time I'm in the woods dropping a few of them. I can imagine it too would gum up a set of bandsaw guides. Keep up the good work Tony !! Hahaha I had to come back and edit from Tim to Tony...My bad, I was watching another tractor guy named Tim just before....LOL

    I haven't seen anybody change saw blade since I used to work for Alcoa Aluminum..they would cut Aluminum tubing for baseball bats. Thank you for sharing your video with us Tony.

      It happens often in the sawmill world. I will go through a blade about every 6th log. They can be sharpened up to 10 times.

    My Kioti isn't set up for a grapple yet but they sure look handy. Using my remotes for a hydraulic top link so need another set or a third function eventually. I'm a little jealous every time I see you use your grapple 😂

    I have read a lot about the diesel but I can’t bring myself to use it. I use windshield wiper fluid in my tank and every so often I spritz the blade with goof off. It does well.
    I have nothing against anyone using it on pitchy woods. I just can’t really due to my own eco-policies. Before I discovered the bug shield and goof off I hated pine, but I needed my own lumber a few years ago and forced myself to do it. It’s still not my favorite and I tend to let the logs sit so I can peel the bark. (No debarker and the grinder method is just a mess.) It smells terrible when I cut it but it’s easier on my blades and I get a lot of blue pine. The look isn’t for everyone but I encourage spalting on a lot of logs so it seems to stay in strategy for me.
    Your mill belt tension is interesting. Mine has a hydraulic ram and blade guides that makes my life easier. Hope your fix stays!

      This Southern Yellow Pine pitch was killing me. I tried pine oil in the water, but nothing works like diesel. I do get diesel on my gloves and pants when I operate. The wood loses its diesel smell in a few days. With diesel, a little is better than a lot. I still have to tweak my drip system. The sawmill is spot on. I should be good for another good run.

    • @rheagriffiths3838
      @rheagriffiths3838 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TonysTractorAdventure very glad to hear it. It looked pretty smooth in the video and glad it stayed that way.
      If I ever have to do a load of personal lumber in a hurry I may try the diesel. I collect my saw dusts by species so I’d have to put down a tarp or something and put that in a special fire pit or give it to the Ex for his flower beds. No veggies. The only other wood I seem to have the same gummy issue with is fresh maple. Different kind of residues and I only had straight water in the tank.
      Btw, I like your grapple design better than mine on my 47. It doesn’t have as many top teeth-only two instead of three on each arm. Makes grabbing smaller stuff a bit of a pain. Less finess. The shape is different too and my mill rails have withstood my less than intelligent log placement a few times. I tend to bend my log stops if I am not careful because I can’t see them.
      We all need to do well like Nathan and upgrade and upgrade some more! I wouldn’t know how to act with all those hydraulics and computers. 😂
      Well… back to sharpening my all my blades. I like the look of whatever you are building. When you’re done, come to FL and build mine! 😝

    • @TonysTractorAdventure
      @TonysTractorAdventure  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      All seriousness, I will not worry about drying it fully. I will use Fast2K to seal the base in the ground. It works as the concrete and seals the wood. I will stain above ground. It should give me 15 years or so. Maybe more.
