Something I appreciate, I find that a lot of new reactors to RWBY go into it expecting it to be all insane and epic from the first episode. Your recognition that this is more than a few years old at this point, and not letting the animation or shadow people cloud your enjoyment honestly makes me really want to watch more of these reactions. Ah, welcome to the fandom. :) In case you missed it, Ruby's scythe is named Crescent Rose. Most major characters' weapons have names like this, but I don't think any others are stated within the show itself (at least, until they start putting concept art behind the credits in later volumes). Weiss's rapier is Myrtenaster, Blake's funky sword/kusarigama thing is Gambol Shroud, and Yang's gauntlets are Ember Celica.

Great to see you made it to the series. Others mentioned the budget causing the shadow people. I will mention that the voice actors may not be the greatest at the moment, but they do get much better and again, it's due to the budget. Let's just say that Weiss is voiced by the front desk receptionist at Rooster Teeth. lol Monty liked her voice and offered her the position of voice acting for one of the main characters. That's a nice way to get some extra cash, and even get some free international travel. She did get to go to Japan and meet her Japanese voice actor with the rest of RWBY, after all. Can't wait to see how you like things. Don't forget to keep an eye out for easter-eggs that are put in the show that are relevant later on. Also, if something happens that seems to come out of nowhere, just wait. They'll explain it. Have fun with the show.

You’ll find out who the husky lady narrator’s voice belongs to later. But you might recognize her: Jennifer Lee Taylor, who also did the voice of Cortana from Halo.
Although actually Beacon Academy is actually a collegiate level institution. Ruby basically jumped from being a High School sophomore to College freshman! She's only 15, while her classmates are 17 on average.
Fun Fact: Very few people get this but the ending where Jaune mentions a Directory and Food Court was a direct reference to Final Fantasy 8 which was Monty Oum's favorite game and which inspired a lot of the basis of RWBY.
Yep, here for RWBY reactions and stupid jokes lol. But yeah , not just like 8 year old animation, but also a small team of amateurs, with a limited budget, using a program that wasn’t primarily designed for animation, if I remember correctly.
Psyched that somebody else is getting hooked into this show. It's an absolute blast. Try to keep some of the info introduced in these first few episodes in the back of your mind, as some things that may seem like throwaway details are actually setting up for future episodes. There are a couple of things in Ruby's conversation with Ozpin, specifically. Also, a lot of reactors try to play kind of a game to guess the inspiration for the characters, which viewers often enjoy. They could be based on fairy tales, mythology, classic literature, real people...there's even a character that's based on a meme. If you're into guessing, we'll keep quiet on who each character is. If not, I may drop some info from time to time on who is based on what.

I'm pretty sure that you're safe to simp on Glenda since she's a teacher, and the fire villain chick since she's an adult ;) The girl with the white hair that yells a lot is Weiss Schnee (which means White Snow. Very much loved this! I’m still crying from laughing so much! Love your work! I personally started watching the show back in 2016. I fell in love instantly and I still think about the show and listen to some of the music every day. (Red Like Roses p2 is literally my alarm to wake up) I’m always excited to find good reactions to the show (like this) and relive all the highs and lows of the show and even learn something new that I myself missed or some outside info from other fans. The graphics get better throughout the volumes, they eventually get rid of "shadow people" as well replacing them with actual designs.(I think in volume 2)
The chapters in volume 1 were sometimes unusually short and uneven....they were still figuring things out back then....they eventually found their grove and episode lengths became more uniform in the later volumes.

You know, before I started watching reactions to RWBY, I always thought only the word 'cute' had been corrupted in people's minds. But there are an inordinate amount of people who take Oz's "An adorable girl such as yourself" remark in a very strange way, and it confuses me far more than when people see 'cute' that way. Psyched that somebody else is getting hooked into this show. It's an absolute blast. Try to keep some of the info introduced in these first few episodes in the back of your mind, as some things that may seem like throwaway details are actually setting up for future episodes. There are a couple of things in Ruby's conversation with Ozpin, specifically.
Also, a lot of reactors try to play kind of a game to guess the inspiration for the characters, which viewers often enjoy. They could be based on fairy tales, mythology, classic literature, real people...there's even a character that's based on a meme. If you're into guessing, we'll keep quiet on who each character is. If not, I may drop some info from time to time on who is based on what.

@@gh0xttherebel If you haven't noticed yet, most of the characters are inspired by classic stories, fairy tales, myths, and even some history, i.e. Ruby id based on Little Red Riding Hood, Weiss is Snow White, and Jeaune Arc is a gender bent Joan of Arc.

The chapters in volume 1 were sometimes unusually short and uneven....they were still figuring things out back then....they eventually found their grove and episode lengths became more uniform in the later volumes.

Given what we've heard concerning RT, I thank the gods that be I still have you and Sonn to binge RWBY, gh0xt. For some reason, I can't vibe with the majority of other reactors like I do with the Rebel and the Sage. I guess I'm saying thank you 2 for giving RWBY a chance, especially after Volume 3.

You know, before I started watching reactions to RWBY, I always thought only the word 'cute' had been corrupted in people's minds. But there are an inordinate amount of people who take Oz's "An adorable girl such as yourself" remark in a very strange way, and it confuses me far more than when people see 'cute' that way.
Its just... Such a /direct/ word! You wouldn't call a girl or guy you're attracted to 'adorable' unless she or he were doing something adorable unrelated to your attraction, right? It's been multiple years, at least three, since I started watching RWBY reactions. I still dont get it.
