Any good gm would have started naw and traded jaden and gobert at their highest value in the off-season, not kat. They were non factors in the playoffs, everyone saw it but connelly.
Kid you not, I was in the shower this morning and I had a moment of clarity that it’s not so much Randle being the problem, it’s that Jaden and Gobert are bad spacers and we need more DDV and NAW… then this dropped. Incredible content
Randle’s part of it. If he gets the ball he just goes iso, either scores a hard bucket, or he gets locked up and misses, or he passes it at the last second, putting someone else in a bad situation, being forced to shoot right away
@ he’s 100% part of it, but it seems like he’s gotten a bigger slice of the blame pie than he deserves. He looks a lot better when his 5 spin moves and 6-8 seconds of pounding the ball lead to a made 3 and DDV/Reid/NAW give him a better chance at that
If they could trade JMc for a PG, they could start NAW and use Minott off the bench more. Conley can come off the bench. A competent PG would really put them in contention.
@ PG? No way bro. Ur already barely having time to play Conley, Divincenzo, and Neckeil. Not to mention Dillingham not seeing the floor. If you trade McDaniels, u get a 3 and D Forward to help the spacing, and not lose much on the defensive end.
They just let Segun throw bows and forearm shivers tho! It’s absolutely ridiculous. They treat dude like he’s a hall of famer with 15 years in the league.
Involving Jaden's man on any offensive scheme should be a go-to for this team since most teams defend Jaden with their worst defender. Then that opens up Ant and Randle's drive game and also have Rudy in the dunker spot. I wish Finch would involve Jaden more on offense overall since all he does is stand still in a corner and that's how you kill a player's rhythm and confidence on the offensive end.
Jaden needs to cut more. Dude had open cutting lanes, but he instead sometimes just camps at the 3 point line. Cutting helps keeps the defense honest, espcially if you are not a great shooter.
@@user-dn3fn3bg4l I am pretty sure he's aware of that, but it has got to be the coaching that's keeping him parked at one of those corners. He has always been way better as a cutter/slasher to the rim with his insane length and athleticism, but for some reason, the team completely shuts him off and calls him "the barometer of the offense". If the guy that's getting zero rhythm and touches goes off, of course the team's gonna win... I swear these Finch quotes make no sense the more you listen to them.
Much, MUCH needed win for us. It's far from perfect and there are still so many things to fix, but coming back from down 16 with little under 5 minutes left gotta be a huge boost for team morale. Up the Wolves!
It’s coach Finch that needs to utilize our full roster. I’ve said this all year. We have yet to see any other role players that could greatly contribute.
Crazy how much Reid stepped up at the end as well, he had 5pts 5 fouls and benched early into the 4th, came back out with a little over 5 minutes left and fouls out with a hair over a minute left. But in that 4ish minutes of play hit 9 points on that last run to get them back in it.
Ant's clutch shot making bailed out the team, coach Finch, and even Ant himself. There were a lot of problems this game. - Getting out hustled leading to offensive rebounding - Rudy getting cooked by the opposing center again - Ant, until very late, seemingly disappearing during crunch time (until those baskets, the dude only had 1 point for the entire 2nd half) etc. But hey, a win is a win. The best thing I took away from this is Ant getting clutch down the stretch. He needs that taste being a closer. MN cannot settle with this win, we got fortunate. A lot of problems this game that we need to fix; to prepare for SA. But great comeback win! Onto to the next!
We as a team are so lucky to be so deep. I love to imagine that, if we're down points at the end of the game, we can switch it up to a purely offensive lineup. Likewise, imagine a fully defensive team we could swap to if we're ahead and trying to close it out.
You can have a good offense with Rudy in it (the Jazz did). You can have a good offense with Randle in it (last year's Knicks did). You can have a good offense with Jaden in it. You cannot have a good offense with all three playing at the same time.
Thank you for this video! Seems like if we face a big, athletic scorer Rudy really struggles no keep energy at both ends of the court. Everyone agrees that he creates spacing issues on offence, but I would like to have him be the on the ball screen setter more often and fighting for offensive boards. It would open up driving lanes for everyone having him on the perimeter drawing the 5 out. If the 5 doesn't respect it maybe keep screening to the open man and ball movement until open.
Exactly neither one of them can score at all ....neither can Mike Conley...no wonder we have lost so many games this year playing 2 on 5 ant and J Randle against 5 scorers Criss Finch should be fired immediately
But sadly, no reaction from Finch. He still keeps putting the awful starting lineup that is too slow and lacks spacing potential due to poor shooting. I think a Reid/Randle/Jaden/Ant/Divo will be a great starting lineup. This unit will be faster and will have more space, plus Jaden could be more effective to cut to the rim or wait on the dunker spot without Gobert occupying it. Then Gobert/NAW/Conley/Minnot will be inserted in the game based on the matchup needs. Looking closely, our team should have been fun, if only Finch was not too lazy to think and make adjustments.

Jake, using the benefit of hindsight you were 100% correct. But Naz and NAW were having bad games. Shenguin was scoring on everyone, not just Rudy. Mike has no business closing games anymore as he is a PG2 on a team without a PG1. Rudy had a terrible game, but to be fair his teammates were throwing low passes and forcing it inside to him. If they throw high passes and only in the flow of the offense Rudy probably is -5 instead off -18. Jaden is a mixed bag. Tonight was a very bad Jaden night. Tonight Jaden was better off riding pine. But if we are talking about adjustments moving forward, Jaden and NAW are a defensive force together. Either go small with Ant, DDV and Rudy rounding it out, or go bigger with Ant, Naz, and Rudy. Also your video fails to mention the real reason we won. Ant and Randle didn’t sabotage us. We actually passed the ball, set screens, and didn’t devolve into the ISO ball hero ball mess we usually are.
It was a rare sight to not see much hero ball in the 4th, and their plays came in the flow of what the defense gave. It was FUN to watch. Also welcome to the show DDV... Bout time
Rudy routinely gets scored on by bigs. Alperen was like 4 for 10 guarded by Randle. Its been like this the whole season, Randle has guarded scorers better but Gobert continues to switch the matchup, he did it vs Kat. This is why Ant said "we think we are smarter than the coaches".
Totally agreed on all of this. I have been calling for this and I get that it's hard with Gobert but I actually want to see McDaniels play the backup 5 behind Gobert. Since Randle and Reid play more like wings and are generally better when engaged, with McDaniels length and touch around the rim I think that McDaniels rim protection and McDaniels as a screener, roller, dunker can be effective offense and defense in lineups without Gobert.
This is a side note but I really wanna see what Shannon jr could bring. He's and older rookie who seems like he can shoot run in transition, play solid D, and finish at the hoop/attack closeouts. I just wanna see if he could translate those skills to real nba mins!
