I think what you're seeing at the end is the drag of the cars, the 991 frontal area is much bigger than that of the 996, plus the 996 has much slender hips and lower frontal area, people complained the 996 looked like a bar of soap so the later cars had big wide hips like the 993 again and bigger front with head lights and here you see the results. The 996 was a good car and it took a lot of flack for being ugly but it was just Porsche trying to modernise the 911.
Any generation of 911 is fantastic, but I think the 996 is most underestimated.

Correct, Cw x A of the 996 GT3 is very good (0.58). That is why it was capable of almost 310 top speed. They are still a weapon on german autobahn

Well afaik, only 996 MK.I had the CS option from the factory. For the MK. IIs ,there where options to make it as a CS from the factory (ie. added cage and extinguisher ,sport recaros with 4/6 points harness), but it was not an official CS package if you know what i mean.
As for the weight, i red tons of articles that said the CS was around 25-30kgs lighter than the standard GT3.Even Michael Bateman said this in an article about the MK.I CS vs MK.II.
    :)

Weight affects acceleration most at lower speeds. Aero affects acceleration most at high speeds. I also have to assume that 991 has more gears to use, which helps it most at lower speeds. It appears the 991 S has better power to weight ratio while the GT3 has better power to aero.

991 S has 400 HP but is around 3400 lbs. '04 GT3 has 380 HP and weighs 3180 lbs. PDK makes a big acceleration difference initially due to the lightning shifts but you can see the GT3 catch up as it can rev to 8100 rpm... Drove the S at the 3-day PSDS class but wouldn't give up my GT3 or (and, I guess more accurately) my 04 Turbo Cab for it...2 Mezger engined cars for the price of one DFI car?? I'll keep my boxster front ends, thank you...LOL

So, i've seen the 996 GT3 MK II in some other videos (from ParadisePorsche user/channel) and it actually has a CS (ClubSport) package, which is a tad lighter than a normal GT3. Factory-wise ,there was no such thing as CS package so it was made by the owner. So, the 1470kg 991 with 400bhp vs a CS 996 GT3 with around 1350kg (1380kg stock) and 381hp (but i'm sure it has around 400hp): PDK helps until around 250kph, then the 100+ kg less on the GT3 do the talking.

i thought 996gt3 cars put around 365rwhp.....i have never seen 395rwhp from a stock 996gt3. Do you have any links/vids of a stock 996gt3 on the dyno with such numbers?
