Got the chance to see the live debut of 'Falling From the Sun', 'Say' and 'Misfortune' as I was on a short trip to Mexico City last week. Tom, Henrik, Johan, Rikard and Simen totally kicked ass that night. 'Theories of Emptiness' is certainly a top-notch addition to a catalogue in which quality never drops.
First place on my list of "Artists I need to check out with a discography deep dive" - now's the perfect time. I know Tom Englunds voice from 01 by Ayreon and dug it. I also listened to a song here and there a couple years ago. It'll take a couple of weeks or even months to get acquainted with so many albums, but I'll look forward to it.
I've only heard a few songs by Evergrey here on TH-cam as well as videos of them and i really like them especially with the awesome sounding keyboards and thanks for another great band Pete.😎👍🎸
Great album Pete! Rob piqued my interest when he covered it on our recent Review Crew episode and I ended up buying it. I liked Theories of Emptiness so much that I just ordered four more Evergrey albums.
For me every album they released since Hymns For The Broken is a masterpiece. In my opinion current Evergrey is way better than Evergrey's "classic" era. And I think they agree, because I saw them in São Paulo this week and the only song they've been playing from the early albums is A Touch of Blessing
Evergrey is such a unique band. Tom Englund has one of the most emotive voices which takes their songs to another level. If you listen to this album a few times, it's easily a 4.5/5.
This is a great album. I'm glad to say there is less pitch correction than on the previous album (and I liked that record, too), very nice production. I like the duet between Tom and Jonas Renkse on 'Cold dreams'. By the way, if that's Jonas doing the growling is it the first time he's done harsh vocals since early Katatonia?
He only did harsh vocals on Dance of December souls and Funerals to come, Brave Murder Day was Mikael Akerfeldt so unless I missed some session or guest appearance it might be his first harsh vocals in nearly 30 years!
Day #12 - Markus Schulz - SCREAM 2 Day #13 -Foxes - GLORIOUS (Youth, Echo, and Shaking Heads) Day #14 - Steve Taylor and the Perfect Foil - GOLIATH Day #15 - MO - NO MYTHOLOGIES TO FOLLOW
i love this album so much, it was the perfect timing/perfect album kind of thing when i first heard it, esp with the lyrical themes. it's a favorite of the year.
Seen a lot of good reviews for this, so tried it and it's great not sure how they've passed me by. I'll try their back catalogue, though get the impression from Pete they are a band I will only need to pick a handfull of their best albums rather than a catalogue I need to complete.
As always, thanks so much for checking it out! :D
Thanks again Pete!! everyone should give this album a chance! The Band just keeps giving us some superb music!!
Great review Rob on The Review Crew ❤🤘🤘🤘💯💯💯Thanks

Simen also put in a top class performance on album released by Temic in 2023
Frank. So cool. Awesome 👍💯
@@garyjoyce2160 TY, Gary! 😀

Consistently good albums, no real let downs.

Are you going to review the new Uncle Acid & The Deadbeats album?

Good review 👍 I really like this album.

yes it is Jonas doing the growls and clean vocals along with Tom's daughter, Salina

@@griefforest1870 That's what I was thinking. Boy, 30 years! I still think of Katatonia & Evergrey as new bands :D
Nice follow-up to Rob's review on the recent episode of The Review Crew. Thanks as always, Pete, for the weekly new product shows.
Never disappoint! another great album 🍺🤘!!

A solid album with some memorable melodies and riffing. Loved the clean vocals.
Tom can read out a letter from the DMV and turn into something riveting and heartfelt, he's that good.
The CD is on its way...
Other new releases that need some attention: Conquerors by New Horizon and Manifesto by Sunburst....check them out
Great album it is on repeat on my cd player 4,5 / 5 easily. Much better than the last two, which are very good.
I find this album leans more towards hard rock then metal. I'm really enjoying this one.

Another great album from an awesome band.
Album of the year so far for me. I have a vinyl version. My fav song is " One Heart" .
Like and subscribe music lovers! Rock on Peter!
I'm pretty sure I've heard them before, but I did listen to "Say" when the video was released. Not my cuppa.
Same.
Between Evergrey and Silent Skies...Tom Englund just doesn't miss!!!
I've never been able to get into these guys. No hate, just not for me. Thanks for the review though, Pete!
Evergrey by numbers unfortunately.
Cant get into this band. Way too many boring midtempo songs. 2/5
Not all metal is fast...
