    Dopp Kits are one of the most popular leather projects, but they're always super time consuming to make. Going with our current theme we made an all leather, laced dopp kit (shaving kit, toiletry bag, lunch box, whatever you want to use it for! That only uses some lace and a buckle to assemble. You can make one of these in less than an hour :) We suggest 7oz chrome tanned leather like that sold by our sponsor Buckleguy, Newbury Leathers - that'll give you some extra protection as the kit is out and about :)

    Lol. Of course you did. I've been struggling to come up with a pattern watching a ton of people make them. But, thanks for saving me from myself.

    Pro tip I just discovered!! You can order a box of those eco tasters that are made for chefs to taste food and use them to spread glue! So amazing!

    The materials link takes you to the lace bag project not the dopp kit but what Im trying to find out is how much leather will it take to make the dopp kit I will be making one so I don’t want to buy a lot of Crome tan
    Thank you

    Love the videos. Thank you so much for the great instructions with the videos. I am wondering if you have ever made like a bank bag (ones gotten from the bank to hold large amounts of bills or coins) or like a organizational pouch like maxpedition ? Thanks

    I tried this recently with some leather I bought off Amazon, as there is nothing near me, but the leather cracks along all the cuts and it looked horrible. Is that because of the type of leather I got, or is all leather that dry and I’m supposed to do something with it first?

    I just purchased this pattern. Out of ALL of the other patterns I have purchased from you, this is the ONLY one that will not allow me to open up the pattern for printing. I'm getting a message that says "We can't open this file." I'm disappointed. I'm using a DELL computer, not a MAC. How can this issue be resolved???

    A good way to make patterns is with paper, just draw and try to assemble. Other way is just get some bag or wallet that is broken or falling apart and cut the costure and you can improve from there. You do not, I repeat DO NOT disasamble your partner or your mother bag to copy the pattern... I learn it the hard way 🤣

    I have a question. I might have misunderstood. Isn’t 3/16th inch smaller than 1/4 inch?

    • @lylagothard9989
      @lylagothard9989 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ok so the lace is supposed 1/16th inch bigger than the hole. Sometimes it takes things time to sink in😂😂

    • @nigelwylie01
      @nigelwylie01 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      He said he usually likes to go up a size with the lace. This will give a tight squeezed fit. Because the leather will form a little around the shape of the lace, especially if your lace isn’t round (as here, hand-cut lace is square) so with a round punched hole, you don’t end up with much ‘fresh air’ in the final piece.

    Rather lace loosely than tightly because weight in the bag will tighten it the same goes for do not tighten cthe wheel studs
