  • Watch til the end. I saved the best for last! Back working on American Flyer for while and I thought I would start with unboxing an entire collection. Found these the other day stored in a garage for a lot of years. Don't know how long. There is a thick layer of machine shop dust and grime on everything so I'm doing this unboxing in my garage.

As fa😢as I know, you are correct, that is a rectifier. I absolutely love the 8B transformer, an absolute brick. I own three of them. That's a gorgeous Hudson. Lucky You!

Port Lines has the end frame and hand rail that is missing from your GP-7. He has both versions; KC and LC end frames.
You also mentioned desiring the TP 3745 A-A pair. There are 3 or 4 on ebay at various prices.

Well at the moment I'm planing to exchange parts between my other 370 to make one original condition engine then the other one I'll add the Portlines kits. Just gotta make a shopping list :-)

I have an American Flyer set from the late 1930's or 1940's that I had refurbished. Looking to possibly sell it. Still have some of the original pamphlets. Are there any collector organizations that I could reach out to?

There are lots of American Flyer groups on Facebook. Selling on Ebay is another option, I just don't recommend reseller websites like Trainz.com, they will lowball you.

Thanks for the unboxing! I look forward to seeing these returned to life. It was interesting how many couplers were missing or broken from just one end? And idea why?

Apparently the guy that had them was in process of converting some of the link cars to knuckle before he passed away, then his brother stored them before i picked them up. I'll see if I can put the link couplers back on. The T&P gondola is the variation with the weighted trucks, not sure if that's particularly common.

@@MygrandpasTrain ohhhh... The gondola with weights is something I looked into as I have one or two but did not have much luck...which makes me think it was common...but certainly done in the early link variations only from what I can tell.

You have a lot to work with there. I will be looking to your follow up videos with the locomotives working. I had a Hudson back in the '80s and still hope to get another one. If I had that 1gp-7 as it is, I would put the knuckle coupler on the other end, but that is just what I would do. After seeing all the control buttons from the first tub, I though there would be the accompanying accessories on the other one. Is/was there a tub three somewhere?

No, I got what was left of a collection. Only accessory was the dumping log car. I have a second GP7 which I am going to trade parts with to make one original and the other will get Knuckle couplers. Also want to find a replacement brakeman for the operating caboose.
