Interesting story, and it sounds great, especially with you "behind the wheel!"

Nice that you got reunited with a tuby..I came to a 1920 11" tuby tenor a couple years ago...I had Rickards Banjos build me a wide 5 string neck while I refretted the original tenor neck. I had no history with the vega tubaphone so I just went on its reputation...wow...an amazing pot..gorgeous clarity and sustain ...using med gauge phos/bronze ghs strings.
Since tenor is my first banjo ...I am now having Rickards build me an archtop pot for the tenor neck. And as you say. 'Keepers' to the day they go to my grandsons.

In person, what an idea. But my truck is so old. Maybe next winter when my farm is shut down I'll rent a car and drive out from Pittsburgh.

Are those LaBella 17 strings? Sounds great!

I am not sure what Dave used here but they are light (the string length is 26.5 " ) but I mostly get Nylgut mediums with a red bass string :)

I loved hearing it without the damping and seeing your mastery of nuance!
