Oh, this was SO helpful! I am a 55 y/o NP student (33 yrs as an acute care RN) in my last semester of NP school and TERRIFIED! You have made me feel so much better about being a "baby" again.
You are very experienced so you are the perfect person to go into practioner. If you feel that nervous with so many years in the nursing field, imagine the rest of us that are not even nurses yet. I'm taking prereqs to apply to an lpn or rn Asn or Bsn program and I'm nervous just thinking about the day I'm gonna start the first semester of nursing school
@@ToshaNLPN The NP Exam is known for its challenging nature, and it can be really tough to deal with failing after putting in so much effort into your studies. It’s completely normal to feel frustrated. But right now I don’t think I only feel frustrated I also feel like giving up which isn’t my thing. 😞😞
I love your enthusiasm! For those who think they are too old, I am 53 and will be graduating with FNP in June. I can so relate to everything you are talking about in this video.
Wonderful! After a career change from being a teacher for 14 years , I am now in my first year of nursing school and plan to follow your path. Thank you for your honesty and knowledge!
+williad11 You're welcome! It's never too late to follow your dreams! Surround yourself with people who are doing what you want to do. It's like a constant reminder to keep going... So happy for you!!!!! 💘
I'm a CNA right now and in my senior year of my BSN, you are my goal. You're so humble and I love that you look something up every day. Thank you for sharing this :)
Thank you for these informative and insightful videos. I am in my first semester of NP school and I look forward to finishing and starting new career. Your videos give me insight into what I can expect once I finish school. Keep up the great work!!
ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS!!! I became a chemist that entered an accelerated program JUST to become an NP!!! I love your approaches to time management and NOT asking for help all the time! I had to learn the same thing in Chemistry. I also really appreciate your evidence based approach! I had to subscribe because your advice is GOLD!
Hi Nurse Lada , I love your personality! I came across your you tube page and I can say it wasn't by accident. You motivated me to go after my goals. I have eliminated all the excuses I used of why I can't be a FNP. You truly are an inspiration to others. Thank you!
Thank you for this!! I'm graduating in the spring and am pretty nervous about what the first year will look like. This gives a great insight into what to expect, and helps to reassure that with time, confidence will grow!
Just finished my LPN and scheduling my exam soon. Super nervous. Am 23 and feel like I should be further ahead in my career but as a single mother am doing the best I can. I am looking into starting my RN! After that NP here I come. I pray God sees me through.
Lada, you are SO incredibly adorable! I love your realism and enthusiasm! I have a year until I finish my dual FNP/AGACNP program and I'm already so nervous. The depth and amount of knowledge we're expected to know as a nurse practitioner is so daunting. Seeing how you've been successful and flourished just reminds me that I can do this too! =)
There are some nurse practitioner fellowships/residencies around and I'm considering doing one. The drawbacks are the time commitment (literally no life) and low pay. As someone that went straight into the work force, what are your thoughts about bridging the gap between education and a new job with this type of program?
Wow, Lada, you are so inspirational! Thank you for sharing your journey and tips! I am starting nursing school this September, and my ultimate goal is either nurse midwifery or nurse practioner. Thank you for your encouragement. Also, I love how you mention that you look things up. That is brilliant. You are brilliant! I didn't know that healthcare providers look things up on a daily basis like you do.
So happy I stumbled upon your videos. I'm doing my last course of my NP program while working and it has been a challenging, scary, impossible, yet rewarding ride. Thanks for this video and helping me realize that how I'm feeling is completely normal.
So thankful I found your channel just in time. Life has been crazy for me, went from being a teen mom, wife, now divorced with no career and now trying to get myself together to accomplish my goal of being an NP. Currently a CNA now and studying to get into an LPN program. Im so inspired by you thank you so much for your videos. ❤
I'm so happy I found your channel! I am applying to entry-level msn programs this year. My goal is to be a FNP. I'm going to binge watch all your videos. haha. Love your personality and how you are using your knowledge and experience as an FNP student, and now as a FNP, to help others interested in the profession! Thank you!
I recently discovered your channel yesterday, and I love it!! I really appreciate the videos I have watched. I'm a new NP student and watching this video is really helpful. Thank you for taking the time to post, KEEP UP THE AWESOME WORK.
I think age doesn't matter when it comes to achievements and your be able see yourself someday that you finally reach your target successfully. You look back and tell to yourself this is only my dream and here I am. :)
I was originally pre-med but am now switching to nursing. After a few years of experience, I want to pursue being a NP. Thank you so much for this channel. I feel a lot more secure knowing I get to look at so many videos that can help explain and motivate me in pursuing this career.
I'm so glad I came across this video. I'm currently not in school now but I plan to be soon to switch my major to Nursing. After watching and taking notes from your video, I honestly think becoming a nurse practitioner will be a career I would love and enjoy. You'll be definitely be my go-to if I need help. :)
Lada, thank you for sharing your experiences. I am an ANP and been practicing about the same length of time as you , a year and 3 months. I found your honesty, enthusiasm and pleasant demeanor to be very helpful. I will take some of my queues from you. Thanks again! Natasha
Thank you for creating this video- I've been dabbling on becoming an NP. I've been an RN for 6 years and can't quite figure out what I really want to do. Your video makes me feel more confident that if I did become an NP I'd actually be okay at it. Thanks for the inspiration!
It is truly inspires me your video. I'm a new RN and my next goal is to become an NP someday and I know I have a long journey to get there. I felt that you had so much difficulties but you managed to focused and stay positive. Thanks for this video.
So happy I have found your channel. You are so friendly and professional. I am a registered nurse working to get my bachelors degree. I did not want to be a nurse, it was my father's idea. I started out my career in home health, now I work in a small hospital on the med sure floor but realize I need a lot more experience and skill sets so after I get my bachelor's degree my goal is to apply to another hospital in icu. I am scared but I think this is the next step I need to take to be a better nurse. I am also getting the feeling that I want to look beyond floor nursing, I am excited to watch your videos!
I was soo discouraged. I completed my bachelors in biology years ago. I am in ADN program in nursing in hopes to eventually become a NP. Throughout this journey, I became stressed and depressed. Sometimes, I felt behind. Other times I felt hopeless because I told myself, “maybe it’s not for me” I second guessed myself and was close to giving up a gift god blessed me. Your message made me feel that I can do it. It is possible. It will have challenges but it can be overridden. You are truly an inspiration! You have no idea.. well maybe you do, but regardless thank you for being you. You are needed for people like me.. like us 😊
This video is a must for new NPs specially for those at FQHC. I use gym boss timer set up to 12 minutes, then it vibrates letting me know there are 4 minutes left which I use to let pt know the plan and get out of room and try to lock notes. It is a skill that is learned and gets better with time.
I am trying to research for what specialty in nursing or my career i want to take and i really need a mentor. And you are right that you have to surround yourself with people that would keep me going. I thank that i found your video. Im just in the process of taking my nclex-rn. I know i still have a long way to take but its just so inspiring to hear about your story.
Peace be to you Nurse Lada! You are absolutely WONDERFUL! You're such a great inspiration not just as an NP, but as a person! I hope you have the BEST of success in life and your career! I think NP s are AWSOME! I've worked with them for years now. Unfortunately, there is still a great deal of ignorance about the profession. There's a tremendous need for NP s and PA s . God bless you wonderful lady! Keep up the great work! 😊Peace, Omar " Dr.O the PA Pro ", Abdul-Malik DHEd, MPAS, PA-C
Heyy Nurse Lada!!! It's so crazy because I've been watching your channel for some time and I'm subscribed. I was on LinkedIn the other day and someone that I'm LinkedIn with liked a photo. So when I saw the photo, it was a guy and you were next to him and I was like OMG! I KNOW HER FROM TH-cam!!!! So I commented on the photo and he said Yep, that's Nurse Lada and she's my wife! What a small world! I graduated from RN school and I take my boards tomorrow! Pray for me! I plan on becoming a nurse practitioner one day and you are a huge inspiration to me! Thank you Nurse Lada!!! 😃
I'm in the military and plan to go to school while I'm in to get my associates in nursing and when I get out use my gi bill to go to school for my bsn and finally my masters and become a NP. You are really helpful and I thank you for your videos. I want to start a Channel like you as well. You're doing it big keep it up🙂
Thank you so much Nurse Lada...you are giving me so much inspiration right now because I am going to be going into the LPN program next year or maybe this year and I am so excited
Hey Nurse Lada! Thank you for this video. You are spot on with the feelings. I started in January 2016, as a new FNP. I passed ANCC. Hopefully you remember that I won the free FNP Q&A app to study for certification from you. It helped me tremendously. I have been having anxiety now that I am on my own. There is so much to learn! But you are right, it is getting better. But I can't wait until I've been practicing at least 2 years, I'm hoping that I am a better & more effective NP by then. Keep these videos coming. Thanks, Sylvia Oudhuis
So comforting to hear about the 1st year of practice! Thank you so much for your videos!!! I was just hired for my first job as a NP and I'm pretty terrified! lol
Thank you for this. I'm on my 4th week at my first job as an FNP and I am feeling completely overwhelmed. I've thought to myself "I have no idea what I'm doing," multiple times a day at work. I'm also struggling because my collaborating physician (although a very nice guy), is completely overwhelmed and overworked and has no time to answer my questions. It's frustrating and terrifying. I keep telling myself to stick it out and things will continue to get better as I learn and get more comfortable in my role.
Love your channel!!! I start NP (AGNP) online program at UAB at Birmingham this May! I'm really nervous. :/ I may be on your channel heavy lol. I leave for orientation today!
Your video makes me dream NP in USA again. Studying and struggling everyday in Nursing school, I've been losing my dream and hope to be a NP in USA. Now I re-determine to study more harder and remind what a nurse as a caregiver. Thank you.
You're so inspirational! I am only a high school student that takes some college classes for pre-nursing and you keep me inspired! I wish to be a NP like you one day! Also, I love your hair
+Morgan Elizabeth Awwwww!!!!!! A high school student! Go girl!!! Thank you little lady! You have set your sights on an amazing career and I can't wait to hear about your progress after you graduate! If you want to be a nurse practitioner, then you will be a nurse practitioner!!! Please believe that you can be whatever you want to be! I am your proof😉 Thanks for your sweet comment ❤️
nurse Lada, wow wow I don't really know where to start. I have probably watched all your videos. You inspire me. I'm have been an lpn for about three years. I went back for rn shortly after I start work, been in school for a little bit over a year then got kicked out due to failing two classes 😢 I apply to a community college and when I was doing my prerequisites that's when I watch your first video. it open my eyes to see that every thing I want is possible. I just have to go for it. You are really an inspiration. I am doing it the way you did it, little by little. My story is more like yours. How you started making less than 4 bucks. I am moving up slowly and one day I will be a NP too. continue with the videos, you are really helping me. I have introduce you to my class mates 😊 every one loves you in my class. By the way I go to IVY Tech 🖒🖒🖒
It's great to see NPs out there talking about their everyday life. I just recently posted a video comparing NPs and CRNAs and I always recommend NP as a great career path.
Thank you so much! I'm doing my prerequisites to apply to nursing school. I want to be a NNP . I'm a single mom in her 30s and I need to buckle down on a career. I've worked in fashion but don't like the industry. I'm a pretty good photographer.BUT Those newborns need my help and I'm sort of pissed I didn't find this career before. What better job? I really can't think of one. I have a couple of doctors in my fam but stayed away b/c I am artsy. But that not work. I think I need this. I start Psychology and Economics Monday and I'm so excited. Love both subjects. I will watch all your videos and thank you for making them.
Never too early to watch your videos, Im only a sophomore in high school haha! I've really been researching a lot into NPs. I know that I have a strong interest in the medical field and helping people. I also know it is a lot of hard work and dedication but totally worth it in the end. I really want to be a pediatric NP or neonatal NP or something like that. Quick Question, (you may have mentioned it in the video I haven't completely watched it all yet) but if not, what kind of place do you work? Like a hospital, doctors office, immediate care, etc? Also, if you don't mind me asking how old are you? Just curious on when a lot of people go to school to get their NP after their RN. Sorry for the long message! Your videos are very helpful to me as I am researching different professions! :)
+BreannaDoss Hello there! I'm really enjoying responding to my little high school students! I currently work at a Federally Qualified Health Center ( a clinic). I work with the medically underserved population and I love it!💜 You can start graduate school after you have a BSN. It is really a personal decision as to when you start grad school. I would recommend some experience as a registered nurse before going to school to be come a nurse practitioner, but that is a personal choice☺️ Oh, and I'm 37😎
Where you work sounds interesting!! Awesome! Yeah, I think I would def work a little bit as an RN to see where I wanna go next. :) Oh and btw you don't look a day over 21!! Thanks so much for responding, means a lot.
+BreannaDoss My new best friend! Ha! One of the perks of working for a FQHC is the ability to apply for loan repayment ($50,000) for 2 years of service. Plus an AMAZING salary! I'm 37 but if you go straight through, even working a bit as an RN, you would be much younger when you're done. My journey to NP was..... different. I'm working on a video about it 😅 Anyway, good luck!!!!!
I wanted to say thank you bc my teacher and also your former teacher Coach Sims showed us this video and some of the girls are inspired by you to be a nurse.
Thank you for making these videos! I am in school working on my FNP, so I'm trilled that I stumbled across your channel! I should be working on my Stats final, and I will once I am done watching your video....I promise!!
I think this is great information and extremely helpful! I’m a last semester NP student getting very nervous to finish the program and start out in the field 😁
omg......thats my future goal although um still studying for RN now.... i should have found about you earlier but its not too late i guess.... such inspiring lady love you
Dr. Lada. Thank you for your information. Just graduated as BSN, and my ultimate goal is to become NM/WHNP. I would like to know how long it takes you to become a DNP.
Hey Nurse Lada! So I'm a recent High School graduate and I'm trying to figure out what I wanna do with my life. I come from a small town where I don't have access to as many NP's, PA's, and MD's as I'd like to. So I depend on internet professionals, like you, to help me out with such decisions! I plan on beginning a CNA course to work as a CNA for awhile and then go for my RN, but after that I don't know what I wanna do! I don't know if I wanna get my BSN and then get my MSN to be an NP, or if I wanna go to PA school, or even if I wanna go to Medical School! All I know is that I wanna help people and educate people and make people happy by making them feel healthy and safe. So I guess what I'm asking for is your advice, or better yet, I want you to convince me that NP is the way to go! Haha Also I wanted to know if as an NP I can specialize in different things! Like I always see NP's working in a Primary Care setting but I've never seen them working in a specialty like Neurology or even working in the ER. If you can specialize what are some things Nurse Practitioners in these rolls can do and what are their limitations? Like can an ER NP do most of the things an Emergency Physician can or does the NP have major restrictions when it comes to that? Also I'd like to know from the perspective of an NP practicing in a State like Arizona or Colorado where NP's have full practice authority! Alright Nurse Lada that's it for now! I'd really appreciate your time for a future nursing student! Thank you so much!
I'm currently in nursing school and I am struggling with keeping a balance with work school and being a single mom. Any advice words of encouragement? I really need to pass the classes I am in right now but I find myself stressing more than studying no matter how hard I try :( j live your channel your great dream to be an awesome nurse like you one day!
Hi FalFal92! Working, going to school and caring for your family is and always will be a struggle. Even more so when you are a single parent! For most of my college years I was a single parent as well - if you recall I had my daughter at 16 and I went back to school at 18- so I know the struggle is real😫 You have to plan well. ~Make lunches ahead of time. ~Study while they are asleep. ~Sit them down and tell them about your dreams, tell them how they can help YOU (kids love being little helpers). I actually told my daughter, "I'm doing this for you. I need your support and I promise to support you in all that you want to do with your life." When they are on your team you can study during the daytime too (well depending on their ages😬). I will never forget the time I was up until 3 am working on a paper and the next morning it still wasn't done. My daughter was getting ready for school and I threw the paper on the floor and yelled (with tears streaming down my face😭) "Forget it!!! I can't do this. I should just quit!" She picked up the paper and said: "Mom, we're not quitters." Needless to say, I finished the paper. If you let the little ones (that are old enough to understand) know what you are going through and you have their support - it helps. Now if you have babies - enlist the help of family members. Can someone watch them for a few hours once or twice a week while you study? ~Make sure your job is on board and supportive. Lastly, study every chance you get. I use to wake up at 3 am to study... Do whatever it is you have to do to make this work.... If you want it bad enough you will MAKE this work. I hope this helps. Keep me posted!!!!😘
I was struggling with pharmacology and you told my I can do it and I did. I start H&P this month thank you. Nervous about clinicals any advice you have I will gladly appreciate it. Thanks
+MsMayday12 So happy it worked out!!! YAY!!!! If you just put the work in and believe....☺️ So clinical: Be engaged. Be present. Preceptors like students that REALLY want to learn. I was always doing something, asking questions, volunteering to take vitals if we weren't busy etc. A lot of students will use downtime to study, but I was picking my preceptors brain! I was preparing for my next patient (especially if I knew their chief complaint). LOL. Take a few references with you, so you can quickly look things up. Make sure you have your favorite medical apps available as well. You will also need a handy dandy notebook. I wrote EVERYTHING down. Those are just a few tips. Maybe I should do a video on this too🙃
Nurse Lada, thank you for your honesty! I have been a nurse for 20 years and was able to work in many different settings; so I am comfortable with change! However, I will graduate from NP school soon and find I am feeling more insecure about the next step than I ever have! How can I find out more about your binder group?
wow so inspirational..um a third year nursing student at the University of Botswana,a degree program..I really want to get masters in family nurse practitioner in the future]
I'm a junior high school, I stay researching steps needed to become an NP. I'd like to get a head start on it so does anyone have any suggestions for me.
really encouraging to me. i am a final year nurse practitioner student, about to have final exam. do you have a template for documenting? if not can you refer to a source of quick documenting? All of what you spoke about...time managment, and addressing the chief complaint. i can relate to .. thanks alot!!
hi i am an ICU RN and going to NP school in the fall. I love watching your videos, you speak about a lot of my fears. I am deciding between the acute care and primary care route, could you do a video on comparing the two?
Can you recommend what affordable schools to enroll in the NP program. I am currently a BSN nurse. Payed off my undergrad off which was over 70k so I am really desperate to find an affordable NP program. Congratulations with your 1 year 3 months! You are an inspiration...
Congratulations, you are now an NP for 5 yrs. I am a new NP in my last week of school. I have not passed my certification yet nor applied for a job. I am looking for a a loan repayment program that will help me pay back my loan. I am curious as to how you found your first job? Any suggestions will be truly appreciated.
thankyou so much I really want to be a womens NP and I only haven't gone because I truly felt like im not smart enough to do it but like you said its a work in progress. im burnt out as a RN its time for the change. the pit in the stomach you stated is exactly what I go thru and what I feel when I work Er.. thankyou
Hello dinahmite425! Before starting the NP program, I too felt like I wasn't smart enough. I personally think those feelings came from people saying the NP program was so difficult.... I always tell prospective students: Yes, the program is difficult - but let me add that it is totally doable! Nothing in life worth having comes easily. It all depends on how bad you want it. I am so glad I made the decision to be a Nurse Practitioner because I was burned out with bedside nursing. I needed a change and being a Nurse Practitioner changed my life. I love it. Follow your ❤️. You only live once...
+Goldie Leone Great question! I worked on a skilled rehab unit for 9 years and 4 years before finishing the NP program I worked on a spinal cord injury unit at a hospital : )
+Sayan 25 Hey chica! Great idea! I sure will make a video on my experience. I had 2 interviews and went with the second one. I was also offered employment by clinical sites but I was PICKY! I knew what I wanted, so even though I really wanted to get the show on the road, I refused to settle 😉 Anyway, I like this video request! Thank you!!!!
I thought of going to nursing school and my RN ASN degree and earn my BSN then my MSN degree. I thought of advancing to a Certified Nurse Practitioner and have the specialties in Women's Health,Family Nurse Practitioner. What is challenging, is that the medical or nursing field comes very naturally:its a second nature for some people. I had a few forefathers who were physians.
Thank you so much for your videos, I find them so motivating, I love your positive attitude. I am a new grad FNP in the process of searching for jobs and is still kind of torn which specialty I want to start my first FNP job, any advice?
I think you are awesome and I love your energy. Becoming a NP is something I've been considering for so long . Honestly I feel I'm to old (I'm 26 BTW) and thus believe its kind of pointless . So, I've been very hesitant in perusing becoming an NP. However you truly gave me confidence. I know it wont be easy and, I know be a journey. A very, long, BUSY one. But nothing worth having comes easy. SO I'm going to try. THANKS AGAIN :-)
Asha Maughn I just watched a presentation from UC-Davis and the data shows the average age of a nurse entering the NP program is 40! So you're not too old! Go for it!
thank you for commenting your right. I'm told by family friends how smart I am but I don't feel that way....I'm going to look into because the burnout is real at work
+dinahmite425 I know! I know! I was tired. LOL. I taught myself to NEVER say I can't do something. Before starting the program - as mentioned before - the thought "I'm not smart enough" did cross my mind, but as soon as I was accepted into the program I had to change how I thought about things... Thinking you're not smart enough is equivalent to setting up your own little roadblock to success. When my thinking changed - my life changed. I live on positivity and I shun those negative thoughts. Think success and you will have it. "Whatever a man thinketh in his heart, so is he..." Family and friends can say it all day but your BELIEVING it is what really counts. Your new positive affirmation: "I am intelligent and NOTHING can stop me from attaining my goals. I deserve the best. I will accept nothing less." Say this every day until you believe it with every fiber of your being. YOU have to believe it in order for it to count... So happy for you. Go for it girl!
Hi there.. first and foremost you are such a joy to watch! ;) I am 42 and in the midst of a complete career change. Wow. So I was just accepted into the nursing program at my local college after doing my pre-req's and passing my TEAS with a high score. I'm debating whether I want to go the nursing route or go straight into med school? I have my age to take into consideration and my character/experience/personality -I don't see myself as a bedside nurse- but I'm analytical and independent and would love to diagnose. Did you become a nurse before earning your Masters and Nurse practitioner degree or did you go straight thru BSN to MSN? Thanks again for your input and insight, I'm at a cross road and your input is helpful!
Nurse Lada, thank you for your videos. As an NP student I really appreciate you taking the time to tell us about your experience as an NP. Do you have any tips for NP students regarding practicum? I will soon be starting mine and would love to hear what I should expect and what I can do so that I am as prepared as possible. Thank you in advance :)
+gloria475 Hello there! I would suggest getting a good pocket guide - I posted a picture of the new pocket guide I've started using on Facebook. Having the Epocrates App would help as well. I use uptodate too and I LOVE it - but uptodate is pricey (free at work and I have access at home). During clinical be sure to take notes. Be present and interested in everything going on around you. Never say "I don't know." You need to have your quick references with you - you will never know everything - but you should know where to find the answers. Practice complete assessments as much as you can. Practice makes perfect. When you see lots of normals you antennas go up when someone presents with an abnormality. As a student - and even as a new NP - we need to give ourselves time to learn. With that being said: You will feel lost. You will feel like you don't know anything. You will feel scared. You will second guess yourself ALOT, but this is all a part of the journey. Give yourself permission to grow and learn : ) Good luck and don't hesitate to ask questions!!!
hi thank you for kind video ,I'm a nurse in Taiwan , Just start my NP treating 3 weeks ago, i knew I'm going to love this job because we could thing independently , discus with doctor ,when we go to c patient , we also check they have good careing (becuse we where nurse ),but there is too much thing that i thing i should knew ,but i don't ( i have only BSN ) ,that make me very disappointed ........ Katie Chickering you just encouraged me!!
I heard some people talk about him, but I didn’t quite grasp everything they were saying. I really hope he replies to my text soon.
I love your enthusiasm! For those who think they are too old, I am 53 and will be graduating with FNP in June. I can so relate to everything you are talking about in this video.

+TheNikki811 Wow!!!! This comment warms my heart!!!💓
NO EXCUSES!!!!! Powerful...
Bilo Kamara
Thatss so inspiring and you've got a child too! You got this! I believe I you!
Bilo Kamara stay encouraged you are doing just fine
Keep pushing it girl. You are fortunate to be young and already on the road to success! Keep on keeping on!
TOTALLY doable. I surprise myself everyday😉
I'll probably be 40 by the time I'm in your position lol. Kudos to all those who start out young!
As long as you're breathing it's never too late. Age ain't nothing but a number😘
Im 43 with one year left before my ADN... But I do want to go on to be an NP. I pray I make it!
I think age doesn't matter when it comes to achievements and your be able see yourself someday that you finally reach your target successfully. You look back and tell to yourself this is only my dream and here I am. :)
Anytime is the perfect time to make your dreams come true. Very proud of you for working towards your dreams. Thank you for setting an example. 😀
Bayoubelle83 I am 41 and just starting school 🤦🏾♀️
I was originally pre-med but am now switching to nursing. After a few years of experience, I want to pursue being a NP. Thank you so much for this channel. I feel a lot more secure knowing I get to look at so many videos that can help explain and motivate me in pursuing this career.
I'm so glad I came across this video. I'm currently not in school now but I plan to be soon to switch my major to Nursing. After watching and taking notes from your video, I honestly think becoming a nurse practitioner will be a career I would love and enjoy. You'll be definitely be my go-to if I need help. :)
You go girl! Thanks for the video. I'm a new NP and you are giving me so much courage! Thank you
Lada, thank you for sharing your experiences. I am an ANP and been practicing about the same length of time as you , a year and 3 months. I found your honesty, enthusiasm and pleasant demeanor to be very helpful. I will take some of my queues from you. Thanks again! Natasha
+Natasha James Thank you Natasha!!!! Congrats on making it past that first year : )
+Nurse Lada thanks Lada, and congratulations to you too! NP power. Lol
+sucreebrun NP POWEEEEEEEER!!!! 😂
Hi Lada!
I'm right there with you. I just recently completed my first year as an NP. Your so right on about that first year. Thanks for sharing!! :)
Thanks Jonathan!!!! That first year can be a monster - but it is totally doable 😋
Thank you for creating this video- I've been dabbling on becoming an NP. I've been an RN for 6 years and can't quite figure out what I really want to do. Your video makes me feel more confident that if I did become an NP I'd actually be okay at it. Thanks for the inspiration!
You're probably an outstanding NP. You have such a delightful and kind spirit. I just had to subscribe to you.
I just finished my first year too! I just wrapped up a video on my channel about 10 FAQS about my first year of NP school! Love your channel!
Awwww!!!! Thank you so much!!!!!❤️
Nurse Lada, what's your specialty as NP? how long does it take before an NP is confident ?
You're doing it big keep it up🙂
Wow, that comment about surrounding yourself around like people is golden.
+The1NATURALDIVA Yes!!!! Story of my life. I still do it😉
I love your channel. I work in the healthcare field as a P.T.A. and I aspire to be a DNP. Keep the videos coming.
Congratulations to you. I just completed the Nurse Practitioner program in May. Currently, I am preparing for the boards!
Thank you so much Nurse Lada...you are giving me so much inspiration right now because I am going to be going into the LPN program next year or maybe this year and I am so excited
thank you for the info....god willing graduating in JUNE...pray
+JACQUELINE Evola Almost there girl!!!!! So happy for you!!!!
And did you graduate ?
Hey Nurse Lada! Thank you for this video. You are spot on with the feelings. I started in January 2016, as a new FNP. I passed ANCC. Hopefully you remember that I won the free FNP Q&A app to study for certification from you. It helped me tremendously. I have been having anxiety now that I am on my own. There is so much to learn! But you are right, it is getting better. But I can't wait until I've been practicing at least 2 years, I'm hoping that I am a better & more effective NP by then. Keep these videos coming. Thanks, Sylvia Oudhuis
Just started my first NP job this week and I know exactly what you’re talking about. I’m going through those exact feelings!
Wow Excellent Video I hope to See more from you shortly!! I Can Tell you put time into this Keep up the Good Videos!
I'm only a junior in High school, but I'm trying to set goals for my future. Thanks so much for your videos!
Thank you just Start my nurse practitioner job This video Was very helpful Thank you so much
Love your channel!!! I start NP (AGNP) online program at UAB at Birmingham this May! I'm really nervous. :/ I may be on your channel heavy lol. I leave for orientation today!
Hello Ashley!!! I hope orientation is going well. How exciting!!!! Awwww, a baby NP student😘
I'm sorry, I noticed you posted this years ago but I'm actually in the process of applying to that program! How do you like it so far?
Your video makes me dream NP in USA again. Studying and struggling everyday in Nursing school, I've been losing my dream and hope to be a NP in USA. Now I re-determine to study more harder and remind what a nurse as a caregiver. Thank you.
Thank you I really needed this.. graduating NP school in May and I'm not so sure of anything anymore
+Nurse Lada I've been accepted to universities for the pre-nursing program so I'm ready! One day I wish to be an amazing Nurse Practitioner like you!
+Morgan Elizabeth YAY!!! You're most definitely on the right track! Keep me posted. So exciting! ☺️
Great Video, Love how you gave the insights and explained the detail.
Awww Amazing video...you answered a lot of my questions! Thanks a million
nurse Lada, wow wow I don't really know where to start.
I start my first FNP job on Monday. I’m terrified 😫
It's great to see NPs out there talking about their everyday life. I just recently posted a video comparing NPs and CRNAs and I always recommend NP as a great career path.
Watching your videos, made me a little more confident in choosing the NP route.
I work with the medically underserved population and I love it!💜
You can start graduate school after you have a BSN. It is really a personal decision as to when you start grad school. I would recommend some experience as a registered nurse before going to school to be come a nurse practitioner, but that is a personal choice☺️
Oh, and I'm 37😎
Where you work sounds interesting!! Awesome! Yeah, I think I would def work a little bit as an RN to see where I wanna go next. :) Oh and btw you don't look a day over 21!! Thanks so much for responding, means a lot.
+BreannaDoss My new best friend! Ha!
One of the perks of working for a FQHC is the ability to apply for loan repayment ($50,000) for 2 years of service. Plus an AMAZING salary!
I'm 37 but if you go straight through, even working a bit as an RN, you would be much younger when you're done.
My journey to NP was..... different. I'm working on a video about it 😅
Anyway, good luck!!!!!
Sounds like a great job! Even if your path was different, you got it done and thats all that matters!! I look forward to the video!!
SAME
I wanted to say thank you bc my teacher and also your former teacher Coach Sims showed us this video and some of the girls are inspired by you to be a nurse.
Thank you for making these videos! I am in school working on my FNP, so I'm trilled that I stumbled across your channel! I should be working on my Stats final, and I will once I am done watching your video....I promise!!
You're welcome! Thanks for watching and good luck on your exam!
I love your excitement!
So glad I found you!! I'm a RN hoping to get into NP school in two yet as time!
Thanks for making these videos. You are an inspiration.
Thank you Micheal! 😉
Congrats! BTW I love your energy!
I think this is great information and extremely helpful! I’m a last semester NP student getting very nervous to finish the program and start out in the field 😁
You are such an inspiration!
omg......thats my future goal although um still studying for RN now.... i should have found about you earlier but its not too late i guess.... such inspiring lady love you
Dr. Lada. Thank you for your information. Just graduated as BSN, and my ultimate goal is to become NM/WHNP. I would like to know how long it takes you to become a DNP.
Watching this video made me subscribe to your channel ..thinking about going in an NP school in the next year or so.
+mastergorem2 Great choice! 😜
+Nurse Lada Trust me - you will love it.
Write down your goals and start demolishing them. Just do it (like Nike). OK - that was corny. LOL
For most of my college years I was a single parent as well - if you recall I had my daughter at 16 and I went back to school at 18- so I know the struggle is real😫
You have to plan well.
~Make lunches ahead of time.
~Study while they are asleep.
~Sit them down and tell them about your dreams, tell them how they can help YOU (kids love being little helpers). I actually told my daughter, "I'm doing this for you. I need your support and I promise to support you in all that you want to do with your life."
When they are on your team you can study during the daytime too (well depending on their ages😬).
I will never forget the time I was up until 3 am working on a paper and the next morning it still wasn't done. My daughter was getting ready for school and I threw the paper on the floor and yelled (with tears streaming down my face😭) "Forget it!!! I can't do this. I should just quit!"
She picked up the paper and said: "Mom, we're not quitters."
Needless to say, I finished the paper.
YAY!!!!
If you just put the work in and believe....☺️
So clinical:
Be engaged.
Maybe I should do a video on this too🙃
+Nurse Lada thanks I will keep you posted
im becoming an NP , sooo happy i found your page
Hello Andrea! : )
hey hun Love your vid's they have been so helpful
Nurse Lada, thank you for your honesty! I have been a nurse for 20 years and was able to work in many different settings; so I am comfortable with change! However, I will graduate from NP school soon and find I am feeling more insecure about the next step than I ever have! How can I find out more about your binder group?
wow so inspirational..um a third year nursing student at the University of Botswana,a degree program..I really want to get masters in family nurse practitioner in the future]
I'm a junior high school, I stay researching steps needed to become an NP. I'd like to get a head start on it so does anyone have any suggestions for me.
Thank you for creating this video!
really encouraging to me. i am a final year nurse practitioner student, about to have final exam. do you have a template for documenting? if not can you refer to a source of quick documenting? All of what you spoke about...time managment, and addressing the chief complaint. i can relate to .. thanks alot!!
yay first to like and comment. hey Nurse lada!!!!
+Tamara Wilson Hey Tamara!!!! Thank you for watching Chica!!! 😘😘😘
+Nurse Lada No problem ^_^
I'm doing all my research and I made my choice to pursue being a NP💕 I'm so happy I found your channel😊
Nursing is an excellent choice! Thanks for watching : )❤️
I have never negotiated a salary. Thank you for your motivational input. I will keep that in mind.
so thankful for this
hi i am an ICU RN and going to NP school in the fall.
Thank you for sharing your experiences. You are quite pretty as well. :)
Very inspirirational I am a BSN student
+ASSON ASOGWE Congrats on your accomplishments thus far!
+Nurse Lada I feel the same way- don't feel smart enough and it has been YEARS since I was at bedside. Any helpful suggestions to get "back into it" ?
Thank you for sharing!
Congrats On your first year. I was just wondering what kind of floor experience you had prior to becoming an NP? Thanks.
+Goldie Leone Great question! I worked on a skilled rehab unit for 9 years and 4 years before finishing the NP program I worked on a spinal cord injury unit at a hospital : )
Hey Lada, great video as usual ;). Could you do a video on your interview experiences? How many did u do? What questions did they ask? etc. Thanks
I'm almost finished with my program and will be setting up some interviews soon. Very excited!!
+Sayan 25 Hey chica! Great idea! I sure will make a video on my experience.
I had 2 interviews and went with the second one. I was also offered employment by clinical sites but I was PICKY! I knew what I wanted, so even though I really wanted to get the show on the road, I refused to settle 😉
Anyway, I like this video request! Thank you!!!!
+Sayan 25 So happy for you!!! Isn't life grand...☺️
Great video
I'm told by family friends how smart I am but I don't feel that way....I'm going to look into because the burnout is real at work
+dinahmite425
I know!
"Whatever a man thinketh in his heart, so is he..."
Family and friends can say it all day but your BELIEVING it is what really counts.
Your new positive affirmation:
"I am intelligent and NOTHING can stop me from attaining my goals. I deserve the best. I will accept nothing less."
Say this every day until you believe it with every fiber of your being.
Thanks again for your input and insight, I'm at a cross road and your input is helpful!
i'm only a junior in high school so i have time to think lol, but i don't know if i want to be a whnp, midwife, or labor and delivery nurse 😭
So many choices!!!! That's the great thing about nursing : )
Give yourself permission to grow and learn : )
Good luck and don't hesitate to ask questions!!!
Thank you :)
Anytime : )
