    Lada,
    I must tell you how much I LOVE your TH-cam videos! I'm an "older/non-traditional/non-20-something" NP Student, and your videos have been my VitaminE's, during this rocky journey. (VitaminE = ENCOURAGEMENT!) So, know that the Lord has used you to life up, encourage, inspire, AND educate! If I'm ever back in DC, I'd love to treat you to coffee, as a thanks! :) Thank you, thank you, thank you.

    I wish I could like this video a 1000 times! It is SO inspiring to see a nurse who graduated from the same school as me (Ivy Tech) make it this far! I especially love how helpful and encouraging you are! A huge concern of mine regarding grad school is the student loan issue. I don't mind paying out of pocket, however, I don't want to be in a position where I HAVE to work during the program. This video is very reassuring. Thank you, Nurse Lada! 💕💞💓💗

    Great vid! I'm currently vlogging about my FNP school journey and I definitely have been wondering about different programs that can help repay my school loans. Just like you I don't want to be one of those people paying off school loans for the rest of their lives. Just the other day a MD on his 70th birthday celebrated finally paying off his loans! WHAT! Ain't nobody got time for that, haha. Thanks again for an awesome vlog!

      Yes, it's pricey but - sooooooo worth it. You are the reason I made this video.... there are loan repayment programs and scholarships that will wipe the slate clean for you. If you worked for a FQHC and took advantage of the loan repayment program x 5 years - $110,000 of your debt would be GONE🙌🏾

    Just a FYI: I was a recipient for the HRSA scholarship and they do NOT help you find a position. They have staff to answer your questions about whether a place qualifies, but it is up to you to find the job.

      Hello there. Thanks for the input. The NHSC website states:
      "The NHSC helps scholars find a practice site that's right for them. When in service, scholars earn a market-rate salary, paid by the employing facilty."
      This is information from the NHSC website. Links to all NHSC programs are in the description box for viewers to read at their leisure. Not sure if this is something new or what, but I got my information directly from the website. Maybe I will send them a message for clarification as the website states they DO find scholars a site.
      Thanks again for the info!

    Haha that is a funny start to the video. My NP program classmates are starting to rethink coming back to finish the MSN portion after doing the BSN part because of loans. The NHSC is competitive. Congrats! Your look pretty with your new hairdo btw.

      Hey Howie!
      Awww! Thank you!
      The loans are scary for everyone - that's all we talked about during the entire 2.5 years of graduate school😂
      Yes, the NHSC program is competitive but don't forget about the NHSC scholarship program for fulltime NP students, and state loan repayment programs as well. I sat down and researched ways to repay my loans because I was really nervous about the debt too. I'm happy I went through with it. Even though these programs are competitive always take your chances and apply.
      Keep me posted.
      I love your channel btw.

      Hello Keondra!
      There is a Nurse Corps Loan Repayment program for Registered Nurses which may be perfect for you. They will pay 60% of your nursing debt for a 2 year contract and if you continue for a third year they will pay an additional 25%.
      I am working on a video about this for registered nurses.
      I "think" the deadline was in February, so you may have to wait until the application cycle re-opens.

    I am an FNP, waiting to take my boards. I just missed the application deadline after watching ur video. I will assume i have to have my boards first? Which is more in demand? Psych NP or FNP? Is the hourly or yearly salary worth it, apart from the scholarship or loan repayment i'd have to pay back?

    • @DrLada
      @DrLada  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ktech2018 Elisha:
      Good afternoon. You need to have your license and a job at a Federally qualified health center first.
      As far as “demand” it depends on where you live. In the D. C. area (where I live) there is a great need for psych nurse practitioners, but there is also a great need for FNP’s as well.
      My salary has increased significantly as a nurse practitioner - the loan repayment was “additional” so it was most definitely worth it for me.
      Good luck on your boards.

    I have kind of a question I’ve been hesitant to ask lol. Was your job that you worked for the loan repayment horrible? The only sites that are approved in my area seem to have tons of complaints, and also are in very, very bad parts of the city. This doesn’t scare me off, but I’m just wondering if it’s worth it to be miserable for two years.

    I think the hospital I currently work at is a qualifying hospital for the scholarship. I went to the scholarship site & tried to look up the HPSA for my hospital but it's all a little confusing to navigate. I'm not sure what I'm looking at or what I am looking for to make sure it a qualifying facility. HELP! Do you have a direct link that will take me straight to where I can find out if my hospital qualifies or is there a list I can print out that lists all the qualifying hospitals & clinics in my area? Btw I live in the Los Angeles area. TIA.

    One specific question, regarding the NHSC scholarships: are recipients of the NHSC scholarships MORE LIKELY to be awarded the NHSC Loan Repayment Program??? Or, do you have equal chance of receiving the NHSC Loan Repayment, whether or not you were enrolled in the NHSC Scholarship program??? Thanks for your knowledge!!! :)

    • @DrLada
      @DrLada  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello! Great question. Each program has different criteria. For the loan repayment more emphasis is placed on HPSA scores and for the scholarship I think they look at the entire picture - your essay, letters of reference, cost of the program, are you from a disadvantaged background.... etc.
      Hope his helps 😘
