Thank you for the insight. I begin my new job as ACNP for a vascular group next week. As a critical care nurse with 18 years experience, the Imposter Syndrome feels very real.
I cannot love this video enough. New grad NP here and just started my first job today 😬😬😬 and I 100% suffer from imposter syndrome. It’s the worst. I remember and tend to dwell on every mistake I’ve ever made and struggle with confidence. Thank you for your reassurance!
It is a very real and painful phenomenon and something I underestimated as a new grad. I’m about to make a video on it because I think more people need to be aware that it is perfectly normal!! Good luck!
Couldn’t agree more ! I suffered from “I knew what I didn’t know” and that was scary. 2 1/2 yrs I still suffer from imposter syndrome but it’s less and less but still there
Thank you for your videos! I just started as a new NP in ICU at 3 different hospitals within one system. I only received 7 weeks if orientation due to the high need with the Covid surge. So I am nervous to a fault at times! I would love if you could somehow share your dot phrases.
I just legitimately don’t know of any. When I trained I was taught SOAP note format and just had to spend the time developing dot phrases. Every specialty will have their own commons diagnoses so it varies greatly.
This is my first week and I feel like I can’t make a good decision. I am overwhelmed and I just don’t know the answers right off the top of my head. I wonder if I’ll ever be confident in making the tough decisions in long term care.
You absolutely will. It takes time and happens progressively. In six months you’ll stop white knuckling the steering wheel in the drive in. At 1 year you’ll be able to take a deep breath. At 2 years you’ll have seen most everything and have confidence. Hang in there.

Can't.wait.for.your.ebook!!!
Would you recommend a book to help with note writing aside from your ebook you are writing?

So are dot phrases in certain charting systems or how are those set up?
All electronic medical records I’ve ever worked with have this capability. Cerner, Epic, Mckessen
