Justin I'm sure you've heard it all, but as a high school teacher for 20 years now, I have to say that you are a great teacher. You seem to be a down to earth nice guy. Nothing has helped me more with my guitar. Thank's a million and best of luck to you from Montreal.
My 9 yr. old is working on this song for an upcoming performance, and this really helped. The F chord joke went right over her head, no worries there. Thanks so much for the fantastic lesson. ;)
Thank you! I'm working on (of all the crazy things) a crochet parody for an upcoming broadcast and wanted a short cut to learning the riff on this song. You're an excellent teacher! Wishing you all the best!
The fifth member of the Monkees :-). Thanks for a fun lesson. I grew up with the Monkees as a kid during the 60's, I liked their TV show and I loved playing guitar, I played mostly surf music from groups like The Ventures and The Shadows. You can tell I am old.
I don't know how you can sing the lyrics/chord names with a straight face... But I'm glad you do. You have a true teachers heart... And a true servants heart. So you have two hearts, and you should probably get that looked at by a doctor. But thank you for all you do.
Hi Justin -nice tutorial - very easy for people to follow and learn. In the chorus it can be a little more interesting if the first G chord becomes a G7 (traditional way with the F on top) and on the second G chord the D note is added on the B string (mute the high E string). This sort of follows the organ riff.
That song is actually a lot more fun than I thought it would be lol I saw it in my cheat sheets and thought I'd see how it goes and now I have a nice little number thanks!!!
Swear you got big because you taught intricate songs in good detail and understandable to beginners and intermediates alike. I can type "day dream believer chords" into google and play this. Stop uploading crap man, everyone you teach can play basic chords. Love you.
I love just Justin: "A little tip there for the pro's.. Its called: Cheating.. " xD hahaha Selftaught musician here, and yyyup been doing that for years, this 'trick' was a simple side effect of playing outside in the cold where ones fingers simply cant move as quick due to the cold.
hi justin, cheers for your version, seems every 'copy' of this song i come across uses different chords (i don't mean different keys), for instance, where you use d7, 1 version i've seen uses dm7, another version uses an am7 in the chorus, and so on. none of them sound quite right, but yours does !
Rob Bower hmm,I would disagree ,well obviously not with justin being correct ,he just lowers accuracy for the playability, all of his lessons are made for beginners and if some part is too hard he just changes it up a bit to make it easier for his audience.but again ,nothing but praises for justin.
Justin I would appreciate if you could do a lesson on ANY "The Kooks" song :) please i know many are hard but you always change them and make them easy :) I would appreciate it a lot, and thanks for all the free lessons! :)
you should do fade. nobody had figured them out yet, there aren't even tabs on the internet. you could get all kinds of views. i've been trying to learn "Kings of Dawn" but i get lost at the chorus. (I'm also trying to do an acoustic version, so that might be a bit of a problem lol)
Cool! Always loved this song (last heard on Shrek!) I have fat fingers W/Small hands wished I had an acoustic guitar like your, hard to play anything on a wide neck classical guitar??? Thought I’d learn to play classical gas in my high school years nevered happened:-(

Great teacher and the best part is you look so smiley ......thanks !
Going from the riff back into the song is a lot easier in ND's original key of E (or put a capo on the third fret).
"I'm a G chord, I couldn't F7 If I D7"
Justin number 1

After the riff play the first G chord barred at 3rd fret, then D, then go to open string G. May make the transition a little easier.

It's by Neil Diamond

Oh yes absolutely. You cal play in a clean tone. Or try some other cool tones. It sounds great.
i play both electric and acoustic and i wouldn't recommend it, but if you are play it with no overdrive/distortion or effects on your amp :)
Great video, and funny too!
How about doing a lesson on Pleasant Valley Sunday?
thanks 😘😸
Nice to see you using a Maton acoustic guitar Justin - they're Australian...
Learnt 2 things in this video. Didn't know about Neil Diamond!! Always thought the verse was a G7?
Brilliant!
Does Justin have any play along songs like Alan Robinson? Alan is perfect for what I like but Justin has a much better voice.

Is it possible to play on an electric guitar using these instructions?
Fantastic lesson as always, Justin - I now have a new ditty to add to my slowly growing repertoire ;)
