  • Did Maddux pitch a Maddux at The Stadium? Let's find out in this TBS telecast, July 2, 1997, as the Atlanta Braves drop in for one with the New York Yankees. Did we mention it's a Maddux game? We think we should have, because it is.

      Some have turned to pharmaceuticals, some to psilocybin, some to molly or Adderall. We enthusiastically endorse baseball. Always have, always will. There's nothing more soothing than the sounds of a game. Ask your doctor if baseball is right for you, and if so, maybe This Is Where You Find Baseball can help. Side effects include staying up to all hours to see if Maddux got a Maddux, counting home runs in the late 1990s and early 2000s to fall asleep, and a general feeling of pleasant nostalgia.
      Seriously, if we're helping in some small way, we get it, and we're glad you're here.

    Dude, I've seen people asking in the comments if you have this game or that game, and I've thought about doing the same, but I never did, because I realized it's more fun to check your channel each day (or several times a day, lol) to see what pops up.
    This happens to be one of the games I would've asked about! My cousin phoned my house the morning of this game to see if I wanted to go, and of course I said sure! So we went, and even though I was a soon to be 13 year old Yankee fan at the time, and was certainly disappointed in the result, I can look back now and say I got to see one of the best pitchers, in person, at the top of his game. And now I can see it again, you are the best!

      We don't mind people asking; it's a disappointment on our end that we come up empty so often, but we only have what we have. We like your approach, waiting to see what pops up. It's why we've been going through our collection randomly, making it fun for everyone to see what comes next.

      @@ThisIsWhereYouFindBaseball Oh yeah, my comment definitely wasn't meant to disparage those who ask! I like your approach too with the channel! Aside from games you attended, like this one for me, or a game you know there was a milestone, or no-hitter, etc..., watching this channel is like what it was growing up, tuning into a game on a random summer day, with the outcome unknown, and hearing the broadcasters you grew up with, I love it!

    Maddux is one of if not the greatest pitcher of all time, but Eddie Perez, Charlie O’Brien, and Damon Berryhill deserve praises too for their ability to help frame those corner pitches…a pitcher is only as great as their catchers and these men need their flowers

      It's not framing. It's a strike zone that's four inches off the outside corner. Go look at what happened to his ERA once Questec arrived...he was even more affected by it than Glavine.

      Oh, Maddux trusted data as well as his intuition, especially his pre-game preparation for which he was legendary. But sometimes during the game, a pitcher has to improvise, and he was brilliant at that.

    i love these announcers. they are some of the voices of my childhood, and i respect their experience and view of baseball.
    but this talk of “it’s a different strike zone every day” drove me nuts then same as it does now. there’s a rulebook. it says what the strike zone is.
    saying “this umpire has their own strike zone” is not that far from saying “this umpire prefers to call any fly ball that makes the warning track to actually be a home run”. it makes. no. sense.

      We could not agree more. For all the worry over losing the "human element" in the game, replays seem to be working just fine. We'd like to see the elimination of "pitch framing" talent, and true ball and strike calls. Fortunately it would seem that's on the way.

    • @NK-le5ws
      @NK-le5ws ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Maddux was 37 years old in 2003 and experienced a typical decline that nearly every pitcher that has ever played experienced in their late 30s. But you have your agenda so you conveniently ignore that part of it. Every pitcher in baseball had access to that same strike zone but they weren't able to come anywhere near Maddux's accomplishments in that time frame. Strange, that.
