Thanks for the video dude! Very informative. I really need to add in those pure speed workout days and more hills. I’ve got the endurance but need my 400m time down to progress. I’m stuck on 1:54 and have been for a few years.
For a 1600/800 runner, could this work but instead of the 20 weekly mileage maybe around 30-40? And instead of pure speed workouts just mile-based ones with some 800 paced reps at the end
This is just my opinion but I don't think his training style will work for 800m and above runners over the summer/fall season. He heavily relies on his speed to run well in the 800m which certainly can't be done for a mile, so I'd definitely advise running more quality mileage around 30-50mpw. With that being said, I wouldn't cut out pure top speed training entirely, and I wouldn't add race specific training during this time period either.
This isn’t 1600/800 training his training is 400/800 which is a completely different world. You should be training a lot of threshold and hill sprints with a decent amount of mileage all through the off season
im also a 1600/800m runner who needs to work on my speed, im gonna do some of the stuff like lifting and hill sprints since i need to work on my speed and explosiveness but also tempos and more distance workouts plus longer runs on his aerobic recovery days
I’m a middle school runner, 8th grade this year, I run a 18:25 in the 5k and last season I ran 2:19 in the 800. What do you think I can run this year in track?
You should definitely try the mile this year; those are some very fast, national level times and you should definitely try to qualify to New Balance or Nike Nationals I’d assume you could’ve probably went right around 4:55-5:10 in the mile at the time you ran those PBs but what you can run this year is dictated by how much work you put in.
@@PRexandBI would say you should focus on lifting weights correctly and maybe doing 15-20 mile weeks and I think you could run a 2:00 as a freshman in highschool. I would just say make sure you are not running more than 25-30 miles per week right now, you are still young and I would wait until your freshman year to bump that up to 45-50 miles per week or you risk ruining your body and dealing with constant injuries and burning out as you get older.
If your doing 5ks like a xc runner then this isn’t a good guide. This is a guide for 800m in a 400-800m style, not really endurance like a 800-3200m style that you might want to
@@nikoschultz4306 no, I mean how fast to run your 1km pace? As i anderstood, u should run 106% of your PB on 1 km? (I red about it from Renato Canova =) )
Fw this new style 🔥

@@shawn_1120 that makes sense. Thanks for the reply

Could you make a video about the equipment you use or your track bag ??

Thanks! Last track season I ran a 5:20 mile, but now I think I might be able to run sub-5 with the fitness I’m at.

Is this training cycle for base-building ?
I can't maintain fast pace for longer minutes I get tired easily 😢 my first 5km timing is 25 ..i hope ur video will help me
