    Proper bike. No discs or aero tubes or integrated bar/stem frivolities. I approve.

    This is the first video (I recall having seen) in which you have done a piece-by-piece walk-through of a bike. It was very interesting and gave me some food for thought. Thanks.

    Missing the freehub sound and weigh in with this new style of pro bike presenting. Can't you guys get a mechanic to do it while the film crew is there?

    That Argon 18 looks so cool, sexy and super nice!
    I really like the Astana color scheme on this bike.

    I like these pro bike videos, even though there's been so many. I just keep clicking. I guess there's always something unique about all of the pro bikes. Lopez choosing 36/32 for his bailout climbing gear for instance.

    • @chrisko6439
      @chrisko6439 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      This bike (no. 2) was probably only used during the stages when they had to climb these ridiculously steep ramps. He probably used 53/39 with 11-28 during the other stages.

    • @53glowe
      @53glowe 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@chrisko6439 That's a reasonable assumption 👍

    The junction box on the stem and lack of integration make this bike look very 2015. I suppose they needed a derailleur hanger extender to make that 11 32 cassette work with DuraAce. It might have been easier to just use an Ultegra midcage one at a cost of about 40 grams. A d yet I would still call it Super Nice.

    it definitely looks nice but why doesn't it have any aero features aside from the bladed forks? Not sure why anyone would choose the Gallium over the aero nitrogen. (that headtube is horrendous)

    • @neil7769
      @neil7769 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Because it probably rides better - tube sections and layup optimised for ride quality rather than aero gains that will be miniscule in practice.

  • @Lacking_something

    Lovely bike! Does he use deeper section wheels for flat stages? I'm the same height as him, and only a few kg heavier. I'm after some new wheels and can't decide between light wheels or heavier deep section. All my rides are hilly, and usually windy (coastal Sussex and Hampshire).

    • @neil7769
      @neil7769 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Definitely go for 30-40mm and lighter at your size/weight and with the riding you do. Tempting to go for deeper section for the looks, but shallower will be better for all-round use. I'm 63kg and had Bora 35mm and 50mm - preferred the 35mm and eventually soid the 50s. Apart from catching the wind more they were brutally stiff and felt wooden at my weight, 35s ride better for lighter riders.

  • @ska042
    @ska042 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Fun fact: He doesn't need dropped seatstays on his bike to get more aero because his seatstays are already on the same height as his wheels!

  • @tpsmc08
    @tpsmc08 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Why is it that pro's ride such small frames. He is 5'7" and rides an XS, I'm 5'9" and ride a M/L. Its probably just personal preference but I would love GCNs take on it because it seems to be a common theme.

    • @81caasi
      @81caasi 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      They can slam the stem and get into a very aerodynamic position as they are more flexible. Also the frame is a little lighter/agile. And as the frame is smaller, they can use a longer stem which can offer more stable steering at high speeds.

    If Brits all go on holiday in Spain, why are the so terrible at pronouncing Spanish?!? "Mig-well Angle"?!? It's not quite as bad as their usual pronunciaron of "Nica-rahg-you-a," but come on guys - show some respect for a man of Lopez's caliber by at least saying his name properly!
