      Lovely bicycle with a very classy paint job. It's understated and that is something I appreciate.
      Then again, I'm biased towards Argon 18 bikes.

    Refreshing to see a pro bike with set back seat post, spacers under the stem, 'only' a 120mm stem and bars that are over 400mm wide.

    Wolfpack Tires are made by Wolfgang Arenz from Germany. He is the compounder who developed Black Chili Compound (Conti GrandPrix 4000 SII), Gripton (Specialized S-Works Turbo Cotton) and Addix (Schwalbe One).

    As far as I'm aware, ceramic bearings don't offer any inherent benefit on bikes because the RPMs are simply too low. The best steel bearings beat the ceramic speed ones under load. I was wondering if this is something gcntech would like to also investigate

    #askgcntech How would a serious road bike that you can buy today that most of us can afford compare with what the pros were using yesteryear? For example a Specialized SL6 2018 Tarmac Comp with full Ultegra Mechanical at $4300AUD, what year going back was the pros riding something this good - was it 2008? 2000?

    • @RyonBeachner
      @RyonBeachner 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You’re really only sacrificing weight, and as years go by it’s even less of a sacrifice than you’d expect. I’d expect a $4k bike to be within ~1.5-2lbs. (1kg) of a pro bike (6.9-7.4kg) considering some of the standard Trek Emondas are sub 6.8kg off the shelf.

    I don't understand the significance of a noisy free hub. To me it sounds weird especially as in all other forms of mechanical engineering one seeks quiet smooth running. What am I missing?

  • @phillippitts6294
    @phillippitts6294 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    What is the fascination with loud freehubs? Is it because they have more engagement points in them ? More pawls? You certainly can’t sneak up on anybody! 😆

    • @gnawershreth
      @gnawershreth 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think it's cool tbh, I don't like the flashy neon green bikes etc. It makes them look cheap imo. If you go to some large super market and buy a shitty bike there, chances are it'll be bright yellow, bright green or whatever so I'd never get an expensive bike in those types of colors.
      It doesn't just go for bicycles though, the same is the case for super cars etc. as well. A bright neon green Lamborghini or whatever just scream "midlife crisis", desperation for attention etc. or possibly just a "rich kid" who got it from his parents and is now desperately trying to be seen.
