Well he drove the Red Bull like a Toro Rosso and the AT like the Red Bull so you can see why they did it.

You can. The video is kindof dumb and it's very trainable and not as hard as they make it sounds but every single IOMTT and Pikes Peak HC driver memorizes those tracks and braking points. There's a video where Guy Martin is riding in a car with his eyes closed while traveling and his buddy who's driving if naming turns on a course and he's describing from the cue or the mileage the next 3 turns instantly, and really beating himself up if/when he messes it up, and he has spreadsheets based on other people's lap times and his past lap time when he should be at every turn for his goal pace and he memorizes braking landmarks. I think anyone with time, money, and motivation could do it though.

In Germany we use soccer fields. Well at least in one tv show. All the time 😅
But to answer your question: most American people have seen a football field so it actually helps them to imagine how far a distance is. With only the numbers most people wouldn’t really get it
