Each one starts with a sneaky rhythm that gets more and more lively, and each time it returns from the noise to the calm and starts again with almost the same rhythmic beginning, I feel like I've experienced Groundhog Day,amazing!
The opening "Healthy Colours I" reminded me of "Hothead" by Captain Beefheart. I also like the heavily distorted bursts of Fripp's guitar. Reminded me a bit of the elephant blasts of "Elephant Talk".
what musical clip is played MORE THAN ANY IN HUMAN HISTORY? ITS THE MICROSOFT clip everytime you turn on your computer and fire up WINDOWS. It was developed by ENO!
and also Fripp! "“When Microsoft was developing the Vista operating system, the company brought in former King Crimson guitarist Robert Fripp who recorded, according to an internal Microsoft blog, ‘six hours of multi-channel raw tracks including hundreds of melodies, textures, soundscapes, and orchestrations’ After three months of ‘iteration, remixing, and refinement’ a four-second snippet was chosen as the final Windows Vista start-up sound: melody by Fripp, harmony by longtime Fripp collaborator and Seattle guitarist Steve Ball, and a ‘Win-dows Vis-ta’ rhythm by Tucker Martine, a Grammy-nominated musician/producer who has worked with R.E.M., Spoon, and Mudhoney.”
it's a shame that people expect and even demand that music be " entertaining" or that it " go somewhere". I wonder if they judge nature the same way like " look at that boring cloud. it's not doing anything."
Its good as ambience but its underwhelming to just sit and listen to it soley. Like you wouldn’t want to go to a concert and just focus on this for 20 minutes. Feels like a waste.
Fripp worked with the Talking Heads too. David Byrne appears on his album God Save the Queen/Under Heavy Manners, and Robert Fripp played on the Talking Heads song "I Zimbra." Also, Adrian Belew played with the Talking Heads and was David Byrnes replacement in the Talking Heads spin off the Tom Tom Club before he joined King Crimson,
I get the idea and it works as ambient but i just dont get why you’d willingly sit and focus on this in your freetime man. It would be good background for a game like spore or something
Now on second thought after 5 (?) years, I think the listener is supposed to pay attention mainly to all the other sounds accompanied by the relentless electronic repetition of the sound of two strings playing exactly the same note. R.F. had already done something like this in real time on Starless from Red. You were supposed to listen mainly not to Fripp's guitar but to Bill Bruford's intricate drumming.
+evolutionary transgression - hmmm, i just took a glimpse at the "catherine wheel" - i see what you mean, but i still prefer this rough stuff - i just discovered harry partch, the percussion in the background of the first rack (which i´m listening to just now) reminds me of him - but he sounds much rougher, haha - a wicked man he must have been... cheers buddy...

It's beautiful like the first encounter unlikely and messianic of an
umbrella and a sewing machine on a dissection table👑
I want this played at my funeral. Everyone will be required to sit in silence for the whole duration
Can i stole this idea for my own death ?
haha! .... great! ....& '' to sit in silence for the whole duration '' ! :)))))) (Y)
corny
evryone should danse to this at my funeral, I will danse too
I'm sorry, but that was funny right there..:)))))

I bought this album in the 90s, thinking to myself, these are two of the top guys in their fields, this should be awesome. I was so disappointed.
Its different yes, but is nice. demands a special understanding. almost weird
It'll grow on you. If not as art at least you found a wonderful artifact. Think Charlie Christian
Im tripping balls and this sound good asf 😭

Esto suena en tus oídos, una seca, el cuerpo sobre una manta con flores, mirada hacia el cielo, los pies descalzos y una brisa sobre la piel
Woow ✨💛 que bella ensoñación
Goddamn it ! What a fucking masterpiece !
Put this on then open another youtube screen with kittens falling off chairs, or some guy eating 70 bananas. You'll get it if you hadn't yet.
Странно... Ни одного комментария на русском.
Неужели никто не знает о этом уникальном проекте ?
Спасибо вам за музыку. Она неземная.

to me this is the very definition of music that is entertaining and goes somewhere...

Brilliant
Why does this sound so beautiful ?
The genius of Brian Eno.
I wonder if DJ Paul ever bumped this...

Fripp's guitar work sound just like he borrowed Snakefinger's axe and tuning.

same bass line as on a particular Talking Heads tune.. cross-pollination here...

I play this on a loop while playing Minecraft and it's the best

To me I'm more of a No Pussyfooting or Evening Star Camp.

the sampling's rapid repeats are reminiscent of Byrne's Catherine Wheel (which is 1000 times better than this rough stuff).

Almost as repedative as Philip Glass
