Actually, there are quite a few out there. You can purchase modern homebrew games that have recently been developed for the console, and also read up on future releases on the Atari Age website. People are now producing and releasing games for the Atari 2600 that would have been impossible in the 80's. There's a company that specializes in porting classic arcade games to the 2600, and their work is 2nd to none. The company is called Champ Games, and their port of Galaga is amazing.
Been following this project for a while and yes it’s a pain to get games to run like you want on older pieces of hardware. Great interview and top notch editing as always
He got the presentation and fatalities spot on but the gameplay mechanics still need more polish especially the knocking of opponent and all the defeated animations.
Wow, looks so good. Never knew there were people out there actually taking on such a task for a system that wasn't even around for long like the Jaguar.
Sounds like a combination of the 16bit OST too, sounds like Amiga, and Mega, Last time I saw this, I thought he was using the DOS sprites, because the arcade were too large, as he said. Everytime I see anything on Jag HomeBrew, and the 3DOHD MK2, Makes me wish Id spent my life learning C and C++
Great. I hope he will finish this project. In terms of gameplay and presentation my biggest issue is “hit stop” lacking. Impacts almost invisible. If “hit stop” going to be more apparent than port is going to be great 👍
If I would had been this guy making this port, wouldn't had changed the music on the pit and bottom pit, instead of "Kasumi", I would had include like unlockeable Reptile, the rest seems great 👌
It's really a shame almost no programmers at the time took advantage of the full architecture of the system. That's why so many games are so bad for it. Poor ports and/or programmers not really understanding how to write code for its multiprocessors. Anyways... this looks cool. I'm happy to see it.

I've owned an Atari Jaguar 2 different times throughout my days collecting games and consoles. I always had an affinity for all those quirky consoles that never quite found their place in the video game market. The Jaguar, 3DO, CD-i, 32X, etc. The Jaguar was never a well-designed console with its open cartridge slot and its toilet base design - I believe with the Jag CD attached people say it looks like a toilet. And it's one of the worst controllers I've ever held. That said, I still like the stupid console. I kind of wish I still had one, although I would probably never play it; which is why I sold my previous 2. I do still have 2 Atari Jaguar console boxes, though...I think just the box can fetch around $100 on ebay. The Jag has an interesting history - first as a video game console claiming to be the first ever 64-bit console, and then later on molds of just the shell were sold as dental camera equipment. When I started collecting games it was actually a really fun hobby. It was the late 90's and you could walk into pawn shops and find all kinds of NES, SNES and Sega Genesis games all at mostly super cheap prices. No one really collected games at that time because consoles weren't really "retro", except the ones from the late 70's and very early 80's, but even those were super cheap. I remember I got my first Jaguar on ebay - complete in box with 2 controllers and 3 games for $30. About a year later I resold it on ebay and it only went for about the same as what I paid for it. Now you're lucky if you can get just the console with 1 controller for $200. I stopped collecting games when they became way too expensive for it to be fun. These days I'm perfectly satisfied with all the Mini consoles where I'm able to essentially get the same feel of the real thing because the controllers feel authentic, but for a much much cheaper price. Plus, they're all easy to mod so I can put dozens and hundreds of games on them. And that's my whole life story. Stay tuned next week when I tell you about how 20 oz sodas were only .99 cents, and every summer Coke and Dr. Pepper would run a promotion where you could win a free 20 oz by just looking under the bottle cap!
I love the little extras on the fatalities. Still has a ways to go, but it looks great. Would be great if someone could clone these fatality enhancements to the MAME or Mugen ports
Maybe the new red ninja can be the origins of the red robot I think sector and with technology these days can't they take all the models and picks from the making of the original game and re do it so it 100% perfect graphics not a pixel in sight awesome graphics for the time is what made mk so awesome/along with extreme violence don't see eney games these days with the practical affects look got perfect cartoon but no rugged and raw style like mk 1 2 3 gave us

Sorry but, the jaguar was NOT a good system. I'm guessing some European investors made a system, licensef the Atari name with a couple of Atari game names and put it out. That system screams Europe. And a lot of European games are 🤢
Actually it was Atari who license their name to those European company dev. I believe they are called Epyx. They also made a handheld called the Handy which Atari also license and rename it as the Lynx. Both systems are advance for their time but had terrible marketing and terrible people running the company. Unlike other company, Atari hardly reach out to third parties so that's why their console hardly had any third party hits.
@@VOANFlare did the Jaguar. The Lynx is not even close to being related in anyway to the Jaguar. The guys that designed the Lynx designed the 3do after the 3DO company hired them.
After the British invented something great like the Archimedes, they did the Jaguar. I actually would have loved a floor of European shovel ware by bedroom coders, but they should be clearly marked as this. And with a Jaguar better than the 3do we would have gotten good arcade ports. 3d arcade games seem to come on smaller cartridges.
