i present to you: the world's first(?) church organ/gregorian chant/ethereal synth/death metal(???)/whatever is going on with the bass guitars vocaloid song. idk what the genre name would be but its Something. sorry about the bad mixing it was a bit of an uphill battle to get it to sound alright and i do not have quality headphones
so, here’s my first original under this name. it’s about an unhealthy and codependent love from your past you regret deeply, now that you have the perspective to look back at it and realize how much pain you were in and how much you were being taken advantage of, even if it didn’t feel that way then... so you’re feeling all that pain in a delayed fashion.
IN RETROSPECT ALONE, you might say.
i wanted to really try and incorporate elements in my music i had always wanted to execute successfully but never did Back In The Day (that reverby “vocaloid choir” singing in (really fake) latin is an example of this lol, it’s just a bunch of tracks of tonio, prima, avanna and oliver singing the same basic melody layered with reverb and chorus effects and ever so slightly panned. i also had always WANTED to include marie ork screams in a song but never got around to it...) and i also wanted to harken back to my early work a bit- that organ intro is very reminiscent of some of the first bits of music i ever wrote, though of course this song has a lot of new flair in how i composed it.
marie was originally going to be used as an "embellishment" of sorts, only in the "OBEDIENCE ALONE!!!" screams, but i got so attached to how awesome she sounded that i rewrote one of the verses for her to yell angrily and added some electric guitars and HOLY FUCK that was a good idea!!! literally the girl of all time... i definitely want to use her more in the future... i got a lot more experimental with my mixing than i used to (which isnt saying much considering my idea of mixing used to be "put reverb on everything and compress everything and then mess with the gain for 30 seconds before getting bored and exporting, maybe also putting a filter on some of the vocals if im feeling spicy")
so i hope you enjoy! other vocaloids in consideration for the lead vocal were avanna and prima, but i missed my crusty low quality gal... her vocals definitely add A Quality, her sweet tone blends so well with the robotic cold vocals i was aiming for :)
