I put this through an Orange 1x8 and it was okay - great clean, but the PHAT boosts tone inconsistently. I put a Fulltone Ranger infront and wow - makes a huge difference. So this mighty and warm little monster has great reverb, rich tube sounds and if you push the preamp with a boost instead of bosting all tones post preamp with the PHAT, it has overdrive that goes from Freddy King ice pick to Gary Moore thick cream and everything in between.
The phat switch is horrible, it's already a somewhat dark-voiced amp, and the phat setting cuts even more highs, if anything it benefits from a treble booster in front, but if set up right it can sound great
When I bought my Bugera T5 Infinium I found out it had an available slip cover for $10. Thanks for the video I enjoyed watching. The Bugera T5 Infinium is what it is for $150 (+$10 for the amp cover). I've got 2 Tube OD pedals, and several other OD pedals including an early 80's MXR Distortion+ (that's an OD pedal). I can use OD pedals for the switch between clean and dirt. I'm considering having the amp modified so the phat switch is footswitchable. The reverb is just fine on the Bugera T5 Infinium, I run mine through a Bugera 112TS 1X12 cab. I haven't done a tube swap yet.
Bugera branded, their still made in China for Behringer. My own experiences with Chinese made Tubes hasn't been as bad as i have heard folk make out. Obviously I'm always on the look out for Mullard's, Sovtek's or JJ's but i can't say i have had massive valve problems with PRC manufactured ones. They are inferior but then they don't cost the same as the other premium brands. These little T5's look to be ok and they sound pretty good to for the money.
I had a hard time getting on with this amp. Then I put the treble and bass on 9 o'clock and it started to sound good threw my Guitar Wearhouse 1 X 12 Reaper. After that, I've really grow to like the amp. Anyway
The horror of really small surface mounted components. A real negative for repairs and mods. Glad I went with the VHT Special 6. (6V6 tube) A Gorgeous hand wired thick Eyelet board and easy mod/repair large normal caps and resistors. In a combo with a long extension boost switch. A tough little 10" spkr handles anything. Plus a 4 ohm, 8 ohm, 16 ohm ext jack.
Been looking for one of these used, but im not seeing many priced all that well. Its like $20 more for a new one. I should be able to find one of these around $125+. Fingers crossed. :-)
Yeah i could actually do work on this amp, its not over crowded overall and the way its all peiced together makes any mods or repairs pretty simple. Only concern i have is the board for the output and ohm select switch. I think i would rewire that up with the jacks not attached to the board.
I have one too. Mine is making crackling and popping noises. I also got it in 2020 and have never changed the tube so I am hoping thats the reason for the noise. Did you just pull out the EL84 and pop in a new one to switch it? nothing intense involved?
@@ThomasMuseGuitars Ahhhh...Alnicos. and that's why your T5 sounds better than every other T5 on youtube... 8ohm paralleled Celestion Blue X 2 would work for me...that would be, 103db @ 1w/1m + 7db = 110db cranked. ( $500 latter anyway )
