There shouldn't be any sympathy for TH-camrs because they have so many different ways to manipulate the good ppl in the world using the Internet, TH-cam, advertisers. But that doesn't apply to Greg Ovens. He seems to be knowledgeable, sincere, no frills, and truly trying to pass on what he knows. Ovens stands out among the rest!! Good job!! Thanks Greg!! Its a shame you don't have several million followers!! He is a one of a kind!!
Introduced you to my mom couple months back now she has a big crush on you. We watch your videos together few times a week. We live in Victoria BC, thank you for your wonderful content!
My fav part of the video was that smoker set up, great tips, use to catch lots of those dogfish as bycatch longlining when back east, did not know they were west now also, never tried eating them, good to know about its safety around consumption, awesome content, thanks for sharing the knowledge, learned something new
Steak it and soak it in buttermilk then marinade/season and smoke it. I do this with blacktip and lemon shark. Nurse shark is underated they eat shellfish and are delicious 😋
Greg, I love your videos!! I pray that you continue live in divine heath and that your following keeps being prosperous for you. Keep Pushing brother… Love your videos. Randy Guice Carthage, Ms
I just love watching all of your videos and doing so has inspired me to get back out into nature a lot more and to get my 9yo son into getting into nature and since watching your videos me and my son have done a lot of camping out in the woods and doing a lot of catch and cook and I'm so glad you inspired me because it's allowed me to inspire my son and we will hopefully have many many more outdoor adventures 😊
Hey Greg! Loved this new video and your bushcraft smoker setup. Zero cost! As far as salmon and huckleberries would go together, I’m thinking basting the salmon before you smoke it might end up with the fruit being overwhelmed by the smoke flavour. You could simmer the berries over a fire in a foil pie plate or small pot and add a little sugar or honey to it as a syrup or spread. I know that red currant jelly goes good with grilled salmon. I’m not sure about the dog fish though…🤔😊
I really don’t know what’s going on here but I somehow love the videos and especially Gregs personality. Stuck in good old crowded Europe, hoping to meet the Rockies someday… the videos will do the job until then. Thanks!
Hello, what a fantastic video! What a view you had, simply amazing! I understand why you like the outdoors so much. Thank you for sharing this video and all the important information about the shark. Have a lovely day.
My sister at grocery store bought a large white fish filet and prior to cooking 🍳 she seen something moving same color as fish 🐟 a large worm looking 🙃. What she said so people grocery stores fish 🐟 can have that & guessing eggs 🥚 of persites. Cook 🍳 but over the Oven Bush Craft the fish 🐟 😂. ❤ fishing 🎣.
Hey I found out my great great grandmother was full blooded Abenaki from Quebec, we found a bunch of pictures and documents (although they're in French). Always wondered why my Grandmother turned deep brown every summer. That's unusual for an Irish American!
@@AllofJudea that is really nice. Abenaki Indigenous is a strong tribe. It's so nice to meet you. I'm from the Aztec Comanche Nation ( The Lord's of The Southern Plains). Peace be with you always 💙
You mentioned that the skin feels like sandpaper. It actually is used as sandpaper in some communities and was widely used as sandpaper before sandpaper was a thing many years ago. It can really take some skin off if they decide to thrash around while you're trying to get the hook out when doing catch and release
@@OvensRockyMountainBushcraft I've been trying to do odd jobs for people but pay for food whiped that out so if I don't make some money tomorrow so I can give my landlord something tomorrow he might throw me out
Do it bro! I did it and been posting, I just don’t promote it or anything so slowly I’ve slowly stopped posting. But if u stay consistent anything happens, my job takes a lot of my time so it’s hard to get out there in the woods 🖖🏼👽. Give it a try bro
I started a page too but I need a editor lol I can't figure it out but I love making videos anyway I really look up to u and what u do I cant wait to finally live off grid. Make memories!!
Greg , that’s a small Spurdog , the Skin was traditionally used as sandpaper for extra fine woodwork, you don’t need to fillet it , you lose too much meat. Just smoke it with the single cartilage in it and remove it after. You can eat the cartilage, it is packed with Collagen. Great video 👍
Nice video Greg 👍👍👏. If you dry out the skin, you can use it as sandpaper. It looked like a small tope, a member of the Shark family. The dogfish we catch over here in England, are paler in colour & have spots.
That maple syrup is going to overpower the huckleberry entirely. Next time maybe try it without the maple syrup and see if that huckleberry taste penetrates the fish more. I’m curious to see the results
Good to see you again Greg me and my son love watching both you and fowler, it’s like our little escape from the concrete jungles we live in today, take care out there bud 💪🏻
You know this feed is good when both my granddaughters ages 4 and 5 are watching and conversating from Fin, to loosing the fish to cooking it, and all in betweens, gotta love it
I smoked a huge brisket over the fire camping with my kids and it turned out beautifully after about 15 hours and then the rest of the night to rest but I love smoked food , have you ever tried smoked hard boiled eggs? Sounds gross lol but my buddy in the concrete biz introduced it to me And they are amazing
Here in England our dog fish are completely different that looks more like a spur dog to me but yeh me twitching at your American terminology 😂😂😂 had to edit aswell our dog fish used to be on our fish and chips menu as rock salmon so yeh used to be eaten here not so much anymore
That shot of your German Shepherd was perfection👌🏽 he's an ornery boy! Loved his reaction to the fish 😂 Very wise to cook the dogshark, better safe than sorry when it comes to your health. I've already mentioned it once but Canada is so beautiful - you living out amongst it all is good for the mind and the body both. I was impressed with your fish filleting abilities. I come from a fishing family so this brought back good memories. Thank you for the video! 😊

We can all agree that its going to be heartbreaking the day this man stops his amazing adventures😢
Just got back from a week camping on northern Van Isl beach, didn't catch and cook a shark, but did get a few Salmon.
Nice catch! Looks like good eatting
Great video! I'm sure our ancestors made some amazing brine and spices, though. What human doesn't like good tasting food?

With Shark I always fillet first then skin them much easier and it does not affect the meat at all.

Here in Australia we call shark flake so when you said it’s flaky it made me laugh and I thought to myself that’s correct

I just went out and got my first king salmon two days ago! Now I’m addicted to salmon fishing 😂
I enjoy every single video you make. Thank you Greg and your editing team!!!!!
I think I’ve watched every episode. Love all of the content! I most miss the seven and thirty day survival challenges. Any chance we’ll see more?
Should of crushed the huckleberry mix with the maple syrup 😊

Another Greg video. Right on. Bit of a longer wait for this one but totally worth it.
Don't know how, I missed this vidio.😊
That maple syrup is going to overpower the huckleberry entirely. Next time maybe try it without the maple syrup and see if that huckleberry taste penetrates the fish more. I’m curious to see the results
