This game literally made me tear up at multiple points. The music, the setting, the atmosphere and not just the writting but also the performances of the vas are just incredible.
It’s crazy how FromSoft make these characters that just outshine the rest. They put you in bleak, brutal worlds where literally everyone wants you dead. Then you get that one companion. The man that doesn’t let the harsh world obstruct they’re views. You’re another person trying to survive this terrible world. He knows you’re really scared deep down, and he’ll pick you up when you’re knocked down. Or in some cases, you picked him up and he wants to do anything to see the debt repaid.
Solaire and Laurentius carried this vibe so hard and I'm glad they still pull off this character archetype so nicely even in other worlds (like the AC universe)
He is the hero Rubicon needs, but no matter how hard he tries, he will always fall short. Because we are the protagonist. Whether a handler's hound or a Raven flying free, the freelancer will decide the fate of Rubicon.
It doesn't matter which ending you follow, side with him, or fight against him, both his lines, the music, the scene, the emotions, brought me to tears. And either way, he's chasing the clouds above Rubicon. Fly high buddy. He will be remembered, by every single Raven.
In my first playthrough I wanted to destroy the coral regardless of the consequences, but when I had to neutralize rusty I felt like a goddamn monster for the first time - despite knowing I was going to kill millions in the fires of raven

Auite the opposite for the latter in my case. Finally someone who doesn't fumble the bag and die instantly, that also Isn't some end of chapter boss, I finally felt like I was fighting an actual AC Pilot, I truly Armoured My Core till I Rubicon'd. The only exception for this was Michigan because of him having tons of MT's.
This was such an awesome mission, decimating MT squads and the street cleaner alongside him, taking out Snail, with this awesome music in the background. I was so sad when Rusty's radio cut off :(
I wish I could properly articulate my thoughts on Rusty's character. He is the hero that Rubicon needs but the scope of the conflict was beyond him. He was fighting for the future of the planet and its people but 621 is fighting for the future of humanity. No matter what course that takes Rusty will always be left behind. He will never fly high enough. And that is why I shed a tear when I hear this song. He is doomed to fail but he will never give up hope or back down from the fight.

I didn’t know this but until literally today but Pixy from AC Zero says buddy and is the main rival (Ace Combat) Rusty from AC 6 says buddy and is one of the rival pilot (Armored Core) I know it’s a stretch but it’s funny none the less
I love replaying the fights in this game, but I especially enjoy Rusty’s the most. There’s just this personal connection tied into the badass factor of the fight, you start the fight assault boosting each other, in one last incredible showdown. You’re moving with the viciousness and ferocity of an anime character who just lost everyone, clearly took a fatal hit and survived, and has gone berserk in one last incredible rampage…against your rival and best friend. It’s a bittersweet concoction of emotions, fight or flight instincts, and tough decisions. What a masterpiece, truly.

I really wish they did more with V.1 Freud i honestly loved his character like here is this V.2 snail constantly getting new arguments to try and be the best and he still doesn't compare freud a regular human who just loves ACs (i can relate)

I wish I got the Liberator first, I ended up with the Fires of Raven -- it just felt kinda bad betraying Carla x) though yeah, I feel the same way as you do. Most of my favourite games nowadays are made by either FROM or Capcom
when games make you love a character so much that you smile and cry every time they show up, and makes you want them to have a chance to control them or take over the protagonist role, THAT'S when you know how extraordinarily special it all is. one of my fave games EVER, 2023 was an absolute blessing for having this piece of art hit the store

honestly I didn't pay attention to the characters at all so I'm kinda surprised how beloved Rusty is. I was too much on the "just a job" mindset and hype mecha action, but I'll try to pay more attention in ng+
Rusty sadly doesn't get too much development in NG+ -- it's mostly just the whole sequence of him befriending us despite being literal warmachines that made many (myself included) get attached to him
The older Armored Core songs are so so good. Mechanized Memories and Cosmos New Version are my favourites (though sometimes Nineball's always on my mind)

the theme of original Balteus is called ''Contact with You'' and it also plays when you go for the Liberator ending to kill Carla, where Ayre is pretty much fully supportive of you; as for the Snail Balteus, I feel like he doesn't really have a theme and rather its just Steel Haze which belongs to Rusty / you.

honestly I didn't pay attention to the characters at all so I'm kinda surprised how beloved Rusty is. I was too much on the "just a job" mindset and hype mecha action, but I'll try to pay more attention in ng+
Rusty sadly doesn't get too much development in NG+ -- it's mostly just the whole sequence of him befriending us despite being literal warmachines that made many (myself included) get attached to him
