OK hopefully that works out. The first time I tried to get the extra waveforms I bought from ebay and was supplied with standard software, but 3.5 is not enough. It really needs to be what is supplied from buchty.net and that means you might have to burn the chips yourself. When it boots now, it say 3.5.3 (I think), anyway not just 3.5. with luck all be well.
I’d asked the vendor about this specifically before buying and he assures me they will be in the eprom. He has good ratings and feedback so hopefully I’m not getting ripped off! I look forward to more videos.
You can upload patch data for this synth via midi. check this video for info about how. th-cam.com/video/laGgB9s6CGI/w-d-xo.html . Regarding VSTs, each one is different, so you can't exchange patch (preset) data between them.
Sounds like nothing else on TH-cam (even other ESQ-1 hidden wave videos). Well done, sir. This should be on the front page for all synth-heads.
Very kind. It's just a bit of fun really.
I just ordered an 3.5 EPROM and this is getting me excited! So many more possibilities for a synth that already is practically endless!

Wish you would feature the incredible factory piano
I may do a no talk sound demo at some point.
Just pulled out my ESQ-1. Thanks for posting. Subscribed :)
Cheers, thanks.
When I program a sound on the sq-80 im a beginner they all sound the same I don't think this synth is for me?
Try turning off all the dcos except one. Explore that first so you can get used to the different waveforms. That might help.
There actually are 255 waveforms 128-255 are accessible by using the incremental button next to the data entry slider 👍
Yes, so i've been told. Maybe I'll need to do a follow-up video. 😁
Are these waveforms stored within the synth, on the 5503 chip? Or is it via the Voice Crystals
I think the waveforms are stored in 2 of the eproms, but I'd need to look into it to be sure.
Thanks for the video. Is Oscillator sync or AM on?
I used sync on some of sounds. I didn't use am.
The quirky ones could always be sampled and used from there on
Just what i was thinking.
I found one of these in my attic! How can I load presets from VSTs onto this? Is there anyway to do this?
