Hi thanks for this it makes me want to dig out my SY22... my first synth and even I could program it without being particularly tech savvy (the idea of a DX7 - or DX11 which my friend had - terrified me !!)... the joystick was good to morph between 4 sounds. I got some fantastic sounds from this board. Hopefully these are classics in years to come
Sounds so good, well played! When this came out we considered it a run of the mill cheap thin-sounding synth. Yet now it seems it has more weight than recent analogues. Is everything really getting worse or what? 😂
About 3 days after you wrote this Nick Batt expressed similar thoughts on Sonic Talk. I'm sure there are other vintage gems waiting to be rediscovered. Let's hope this doesn't push up their used price. Some really fab sounds, especially the pads Runningonair, thank you.
I think the SY series is pretty underrated overall. I've got the 77 as well and that took FM much further than the DX7 but is only half the price. I think even the 85 might be worth looking at and they're really cheap!
This video is the best demonstration I've seen of this synth. I'm really excited to try mine - I was just gifted one by a friend.
It's a great synth! Enjoy!

I've not tried the 22 but the 35 is great! combining FM and AWM was a brilliant idea.

Yeah, I've got to say this one really took me by surprise. I've had it sitting on a shelf for 18 months! Got it really cheap, so I'm well pleased!

Such a top synth for such a low price.
Yes, great value for money!
