    Its good to see backgammon getting more popular.
    A better visual for the board is XG, the backgammon AI program of choice.
    It is used by all the top analysts on the USBGF's Prime Time magazine.

    64: 8/2 6/2 is generally thought to be suboptimal. Because the point is too deep in the board. Though I can understand the thinking behind it.
    I prefer 64 played 24/18 13/9.That makes a builder in your outfield. If I was too choose between 24/14 and 8/2 6/2 I think the running play would be better for beginners.Though I feel the running play is rather inflexible.
    52: 13/6 I understand your thinking of keeping your checkers safe, but I think this position is way too inflexible. I agree that this is a rather weak roll. Though I think it's more advantageous to your position to play 13/8 13/11 Personally, I like having builders in the outfield, so I prefer 13/8 13/11 over 24/22 13/8 it only hits with a 6-4 or 4-6 so that checker is realtively safe though it puts a checker 6 spaces from your 5 point and 4 spaces from your 7 point. 4-1 would make your 7 point (assuming your opponent didn't roll 66 or 33) 6-1 makes your 5 point, as does 6-3. I think the two split on the 24 point is weaker than bring a builder down.

      You are absolutely right. 52: 13/6 is a novice move, no flexibility.

    hey, you should put some " how to play chess" videos. We've been learning backgammon from your videos, and it worked so good. We also bought a chess board and we could learn from the same teacher :) and I have a question! I haven't seen something, or maybe I just missed it. If I have a 4 and a 1, can I move one 4 times and than take another one from the same line and move it one time? I've seen you moving a piece from a line 4 times, and a piece from another line 1 time. So, is it allowed to move 2 pieces from the same line?

    how come on the opening move 1 and 2 you didn't move one piece in the top left quadrant 1 and a piece from your 3 column 2 to minimize your open pieces? Sorry brand new to this game so not sure what is the best moves yet.

    I think you play way to safe and not open enough later on moves without risk. So this strategy will make you a decent player at best only and corner you into a lower probability player.

    I disagree with the 1-1, I think you should close the 5 and the 7.

      +Mine Crafter i agree with you .. he's moving the top ones one slot which leads to block him self from jumping to 6

    sure, the 6-1, the 5-2, .. and all the optimum rolls, in which one number is greater by two , are obvious... but what about when you get shitty rolls? lol

  • @sjsphotog
    @sjsphotog ปีที่แล้ว

    6:20 - totally wrong big blunder with the 1-1 the correct move is to block your opponent in so he can't escape. Early risk is on. Move 6-5 twice to make your 5 point(most important point) and move 8 to 7 twice to Mahe a3 point blockage. Also you blocked your own 2 back men in when you moved 24 to 22 twice so now you can't escape them with any 6 which is bad. Hence why 2-1 you split one of your back men to keep it flexible to Maxime you good rolls on the next roll. Seems the teacher has a lot to learn himself ;)

    A few wrong opening moves here. Even as a novice player, I can see that 2,1 is wrong. Also your 2,3. I don't like your 6,4. Your 6,2 is an error. I also think your double 1 is not quite right.

    Why not use 2-3 to move one piece from 13 to 8?

  • @sjsphotog
    @sjsphotog ปีที่แล้ว

    Many of your moves are incorrect for the best moves based on XG computer/app here on 2023. Good idea not not correct based on latest strongest AI program and rens of thousands of rolled out tests to verify its correct. Get tyke XG app and put it into totor mode to learn the right moves. Btw 6-4 the best move is tun out with the 6 and move 4 down from the 13. Also 2-1 the correct move is move the 2 down from the 13 and spilt the back 2 guys with the 1. Early on in the game is OK to take risks to maximize your next roll options. Playing too safe will lose more games over the long run especially with a much stronger opponent. Calculated risks is the key to winning. And keeping checkers well distributed not stiff. Having 3 or 4 max checkers on any one point instead of stacking them with 5 or more on a point which is very bad and inflexible. Good luck. Watch the beginner videos on Backgammon Galaxy channel for more help.
