Hello Jack! I don't recall sewing very many of these Facel-Vega automobiles, but this one here is so gorgeous! That paint really shows not only your reflection, but the other car parked beside it! And that Chrysler engine possibly made it one heck of a fast car! Wonder if any of them were sold through Chrysler dealers back then? This car sadly reminds me of the French author and philosopher Albert Camus. (I just Googled his name.) He was killed in France while riding in a Facel-Vega HK-500 in 1960. Anyway, I'm still looking forward to more videos. BTW, I saw that you did a THIRD video on that black 1962 Olds F-85 convertible! (8/31/2021)
Here's more info on the FV....but no mention of how it was imported to the U.S. dyler.com/posts/204/facel-vega-created-by-a-frenchman-with-an-american-heart Although possibly a few could be sold through a Chrysler dealership, I really doubt it....volume wasn't high enough to justify it, and importing parts would have been more of a headache than it was worth. It's not surprising that this is the third video of the F85! That's what happens when you're limited in geographic area...and an 81 year old memory! :D Thanks! :D Jack
Wow! I remember these well from the magazines, but i don't think i've ever actually seen one in person. Those taillights do look pirated; i wonder what the two levers on the column are for. Very strange. Very beautiful car, in any case. I'd not be happy with that gas cap location, though ... what a great location for getting gasoline all over the luggage!
I guess one wouldn't have to worry about someone stealing gas! Being a car from France, all bets are off as far as what those levers control, Citroen being an example! Thanks! :) Jack
And, hey, i see in that same May 1966 Motor Trend Sell 'n Swap section a 1961 Facel Vega with 30,000 miles on it. $3750. I'll go halvies with you on a trailer for the Tardis if you agree that we should pick that one up, too. I hope they don't notice the change in the look of the money since then, though.
Going back in time sure is a tempting prospect! You can see why it remains a popular concept! I'll see if I can get the bugs out of the Tardis (literally...it's Florida, you know)! :D Thanks! :D Jack
Hey Jack ! I've never seen one of these in person & I seen one in a movie that I can't recall & a few times for sale in Hemmings & the color was like a Glacier Blue , That roof line reminds me of mid 50's Buick & I never new they had a Chrysler power plant. Very nice 1960 Facel Vega HK500 2dr Hardtop & congratulations on video 5,800 wow.
I really feel privileged that I have seen one on several occasions...must be a Florida thing! A beautiful blend of European flair and American power! Thanks! :) Jack
Hey, David! I never knew of these either until I moved to Florida! When I began restoration of my '72 Mustang (long gone) the shop I started with was in the middle of restoring a Facel Vega....it was amazing! Thanks! :) Jack
Speaking of the tardis, was it you that brought these cars of the future to America in 1948? I think they're likely from around 2050. The narrator clearly did not understand what 1960 would look like all that well :) th-cam.com/video/Y_ZS_EfoYpA/w-d-xo.html In any case, i enjoyed this video.
Wouldn't you love to go 115 mph in that Davis! LOL! They gave up on the 1 wheel in the front, 2 in the back as being inherently unstable years ago! And that second car looked like a bug that had been radiated and grew to horrific size! Just the thing for a monster movie! I sure appreciate the clip...but I'll be sending those cars back to their time in the expanded Tardis! :D Thanks! :D Jack
Never knew it existed but what a stunning car and a great find for us. Who would not want to own this one? Wow!
Hey, Roger! It truly is stunning! A wonderful collaboration of the best of Europe and the U.S. Thanks! :) Jack
This is the first one I have ever seen. Very nice car. Must have had a lot of power for its day. Thanks for posting.
Hey, David! It really is rare...a great blend of styling and V8 power! Glad you like! Thanks! :) Jack

lol! I especially worry about those no-see-ems. I imagine they can see more than we do.

Saw one at a show in Massachusetts some years back. It was a metallic grayish-tan sort of color if I recall right. Very interesting car for sure.
These cars sure are rare, and a sighting is really something to celebrate! Thanks! :) Jack
A 1960 what? Lol. Never knew if these. Great looking sexy car and Mopar Power! 👍 Jack!
