I bought plans for the larger Duckling as a someday replacement for my Oarling. But I was really curious about the big FF dory. I have a Bolger Stretched Dory which is his 19’6” Gloucester Light Dory. It doesn’t feel anywhere near as agile as the Oarling. But I bet the standard sized GLD doesn’t either.
@@seanmccambridge it just depends on what you plan to do. I needed a two person dory, ocean capable. Sam helped me add a false bottom and a way to evacuate lots of seawater. I have only needed to pump seawater once. Got caught broadside. The boat absolutely will not capsize. Have been in 5 ft seas and barely ship any water. Would average 3.5 to 4 mph.
Love Devlin’s designs. Bought the plans for Oarling II but built the Fairhaven Flyer instead. An amazing boat.
