You think it's good just sitting in your room, imagine it's the summer of 1977, at 17 and your listening to this song at max on your radio, driving to the beach with friends wearing your favorite shorts and flip flops, not a worry in the world. What memories that brings back at age 64 when I hear it again on your channel.

I was 13 years old in 1977. I am so glad I grew up in the 60's and 70's and 80's. It was a Golden age of Music. There were so many great Artists and Music in all Genres, The Artists would cross Genres and write Music and perform with other artists. It was all about the music.

No cell phones. No computers at home. No internet. If you wanted to learn about something, you went to a library and found books or magazine articles. Hand held calculators were amazing technology. Three network TV channels and a few independent, local ones. No streaming services. You got to see what they chose to show you, when they chose to show it. But we did have stereo music and we loved it!

We lived in the moment. People take so many pictures and record so many videos just to post it and say look at me. There is no way that you go back and view this stuff when you have thousands of videos and pictures. Even with technology, I may take 2 or 3 pictures at a concert then my phone rests in my pocket.

1977... No cell phones back then. And if the Audience held up lighters for every great Song they performed, each person would've had to bring at least 5 lighters, and the Entire Audience would've looked like they were standing in the middle of a constant bonfire.

How did the Eagles find their sound to begin with? Let's give credit to Ricky Nelson and the Stone Canyon band as well...Randy Meisner was Rick's bass player for a while in that band. Gee, wonder where they got the idea to combine country and rock? Rick Nelson did it first. Also Mike Nesmith of the Monkees had his band afterward called the First National Band. And Linda Ronstadt had 3 of the future Eagles in her back up band, set them free to form a band...she knew they had talent. When the Eagles morphed out of the Country Rock Sound, to me they were no longer the Eagles...partially due to Joe Walsh joining the band...they became a different band. Even here the extended guitar solo shows they had changed...there was no solo like that on the studio record.

No fireworks or elaborate sets or a dozen backup dancers and six costume changes while flying from a trapeze. And I loved that you noticed the lack of cell phones. Everyone in that crowd was into the music rather than staring at their cell phones or trying to record music.

Fun Fact: Jackson Browne originally wrote this song but was having trouble finishing it and asked his friend Glen Frey for help with it. The finished song became the Eagle's first single.
The line about Winslow AZ actually came from an incident that happened to JB but it happened in Flagstaff, AZ not Winslow. And she was driving a Toyota LOL
If you ever get that time machine working transport yourself down to Huntington Beach, CA south of the HB Pier, look for the tall kid with dark hair surfing a short board and suffering terminal sun burn :). This song was co-written by Jackson Browne, who for awhile lived downstairs from Glen Frey. Frey listened to Browne working on the song for weeks, then offered up the second verse (Standing on a corner in Winslow Arizona) and they finished it together. It was the Eagles first hit song.
You should listen to some of Jackson Browne's other stuff -- a good place to start is the version of "Running on Empty" from the No Nukes concert in 1979. Also the live performance of The Load Out/Stay from 1978.

I just wanted to say thank you, hello. I have admired you for a while, and today you showed me this. Always been an Eagles fan, but never seen this live version. Thanks 🙏👍 I would recommend Seven Bridges Road

Hop on a time machine with me Millie. My first show was in 1972 - The Allman Brothers Band at Madisoan Square Guarden. Between NYC & St Louis where I live now, seen Queen, The Who, Van Halen (warming up for Journey) ZZ Top, Lynyrd Skynrd, Steve Miller, Elton John, Clapton, The Kinks, Springsteen, Yes, Bonnie Raitt, Chet Atkins with Les Paul, Grateful Dead, Boston, Chicago, The Moody Blues, ELO and many more. It would be a heck of a ride.

Saw them in concert at Crisler Arena when they debut Hotel California (prior to radio release) and dedicated it to their friend Bob Seger. The harmonies these guys had, WOW.

Cell phones were not available in 1977, but I agree with you. People need to enjoy the moment and experience. If that were today, you would have seen a lot of phones unfortunately.

Excellent review because you are so correct. Take a memory if you want, but then put the phones down and enjoy the moment. You won't get another chance to live today, and you're not going to enjoy the video later as much as you can enjoy the moment now. So let go and appreciate what's right in front of you

When the Eagles reunited in 1994, they performed this song live on MTV. It's fantastic, and here's the video's name in TH-cam:
Eagles - Take It Easy (Live on MTV 1994) (Official Video) [HD]
Please check it out if you get the chance.

We had to listen to the radio or buy the album and share it with your friends. Nothing wrong with appreciating great music. What's weird is you can see almost the whole concert on TH-cam.

Yeah, I was lucky enough to live through the Eagles albums in real time and they were all over the radio for years. Their early records are just gold start to finish still. Now, the guitar player in this clip is Joe Walsh, who wasn't in the band originally, but he was in other great bands starting in the late 1960's with The James Gang and you should absolutely listen to their songs "Funk #49" and "Walk Away". He also had a big solo career after that with killer songs like "Rocky Mountain Way". But, his contributions to The Eagles, especially in the legendary solo in "Hotel California" were perfect. We almost lost him to drugs and alcohol at one point, but thankfully he made his way out of his addictions and is still going strong. Yeah, having spent a lot of my teenage years at concerts in the '70's - including seeing The Eagles in 1975 - it was a golden time for music.

I'm kind of missing the banjo on this version that they had in the studio recording. This is one of my favorite songs of theirs.

Linda Ronstadt's old backup band was pretty good! If you ever visit the area around Flagstaff, Arizona, historic Route 66 runs through the area. The next town east of Flagstaff is Winslow, and right on Rte. 66 they have a park that was inspired by this song.
Here are some concerts you might like:
The Eagles - Hell Freezes Over
    Peter Gabriel - Secret World
    Fleetwood Mac - The Dance
    Pink Floyd - Pulse
    Sting - All This Time

Great reaction. It’s fun to watch young people experience the amazing music of my youth. Enjoy. Watch more Eagles, Led Zeppelin, The Doors, Black Sabbath, The Rolling Stones. etc… And NO phones obviously. Just the enjoyment and experience of music in its pure and real form….which is the way it should be.

There weren't cell phones until the 2000s hon. We didn't have phones and it really wasn't worth it to bring a cheap camera. The arenas were dark and the lighting wasn't made for pics. We just watched and listened intently to the music, yes, we experienced it!
This video were The EAGLES at the peak of their popularity in 1977. They had multiple lead singers, all of them could sing background harmony vocals, and they had a lot of guitar players.
They broke up in the early 80s, and didn't reunite until a 1994 Reunion Concert, which is fantastic and can be found on TH-cam. I'd recommend checking out some songs from that 1994 concert (Hell Freezes Over). Great sound and video, they are a bit older of course.
Check the same song in 1994 Reunion

I had a chance to see the eagles with free floor seats. My older brother had emergency triple bypass on that day. He recovered and lived for 20+ years. I never forgave him. RIP Larry.
