You just heard two of the best guitarists of th 70s . Don Felder and Joe Walsh . Thank you for your reaction on Hotel California one of the best song in the 70s.
Glen Fry did sing most lead but Don Henley cowrote most song so he did sing alot of their songs too. They was linda ronstats road band for a moment in the 1970s before the record deal
The drummer/singer, Don Henley, also had an excellent solo career when the Eagles broke up for a while, with many hit tunes, originals and covers of other artists. They got back together to create the album/concert called “Hell Freezes Over”. My favourite track from the Eagles is “The Last Resort” from the album “Unplugged 1994”
The drummer, Don Henley, is in my humble opinion, one of the best singers, ever. But the Eagles are a band where all of the guys could have been a lead singer in any other band. No other band like the Eagles, then, or since. Thanks Verdy!
Everyone old and young loved the Eagles in the seventies . My Dad loved big bands listened to nothing else, but he liked the Eagles. Not too many groups have accomplished that. Eagles songs will never fade away. Whats this you said a bass isn't a guitar? I've been playing bass for 45 years. You hear the music but you feel the bass.
Yes! During the arpeggios of the guitar duet, that bass is like a drum pounding each note with them in the background, keeping everything right in synch. It's perfection!
The Eagles are one of the best live bands in history. It's obvious they rehearse and rehearse and rehearse. Anything less than perfection is unacceptable. So they can nail a live performance.
The Drummer Don Henley later did a Song solo which in itself became a Classic, perhaps you can react to that one as well.. "The Boys of Summer".. it sure brings vibes of Summer and the feeling of forever lost love ... :)
To me it's the best and most accurate studio to Live performance to any song I've ever seen, and the fact that it visibly resonated with you was fun to watch (a little blushing I saw with how good it was)! They were really good.
Don Henley and Glen Frey are responsible for Eagles always playing their music as close to the recorded version as possible live. They both knew that the audience wants to be able to sing along with the band at a concert, therefore it would be in the bands best interest not to go too far off the recorded versions. This holds true with pretty much all of their concerts.
That was Don Henle singing & playing .... He is also great solo singing artist ..very one sings great ...react to - can't tell you why ...live for such great harmony & all i was 25 when this band emerged in 1976..🎉😂
I met Timothy B. Schmidt-bass player and lead vocals on I Can’t Tell You Why in Sacramento California at Tower records for a book signing he was doing before the Hell Freezes Over tour in 94. His two elementary school teachers were there. Kindergarten and 1st grade. I’ll never forget the look on his face when they surprised him!

The Eagles had three incredible singers Don Henley (drums), Glen Frey (Guitar Piano) and Randy Meisner (Bass). You should react to their song "Take It To The Limit" from the same concert you just watched "Hotel California" from. Take it to the limit is sung by the bassist, Randy Meisner, and that song was usually their encore song. I think you will enjoy it very much, and you are right, the Eagles were incredible as a Live Band.
As close to the original recording as you can get. They are the best live band, in terms of reproducing the sound of the studio version, live on stage.

Saw 3 of the Eagles play this live in 1991. The first Concert for Walden Woods that Don Henley arranged he had Glenn Frey and Timothy B Schmidt from the Eagles there as well and they did this song as well as 7-10 more Eagles songs. Don Henley is the drummer the one singing this song. Was great seeing 3 of them at least. Timothy B Schmidt wasn't in the group at the time this was recorded he replaced Randy Meisner the Bass Player. The 3rd guitarist on this video the one playing the acoustic guitar is Glenn Frey. What a great show they put on.
This is a great song. 5 musicians who were top tier on their instruments and could all sing. 3 of the members at this time had very successful solo careers afterwards. Don Henley, Glen Frey, and Joe Walsh. You should check out their stuff :D
There are so many great aspects of this song, not the least of which was that the record company was bugging them to finish the album but... How about the duet at the end of the song? It is an arpeggio. The song is made of 8 chords played over and over. The arpeggio is the notes of each of those chords played sequentially. That is why when they start playing the arpeggio it just sounds so RIGHT! You know it is right. People in Afghanistan know it is right. There is so much more too.
Drummers have always impressed me the most. They are using both hands and both feet, doing four different things at the same time. They have to remember all of the "hits" for tons of different songs, with no sheet music to follow. I don't know how they do it. It must take a special kind of brain. And then throw in singing on top of it all!

I share the amazement of that talent too . Reminds me of another instrument that’s super-complicated (although I’ve never heard a singer over it) - the pedal steel guitar. The player must manipulate 8 things : both hands, both feet and both knees (2 levers for each one) !
Thank you for checking out the live version. I'm so glad you enjoyed it and was surprised that Don Henley played drums as well as being the lead singer of this iconic song. It's a shame that back in the late 70's there was a lot of in fighting withing The Eagles. Otherwise I suspect they would have stuck around like AC/DC, Aerosmith and other iconic bands with high points and low points in their careers.
Funny fact: (sorry about my bad english)... that Gibson doubleneck was acquired after Don Felder heared how Led Zepp's Stairway sounded live; and on the other hand, Joe Walsh had sold to Jimmy the guitar that would became his main iconical Gibson Les Paul, with which he recorded and toured from 70 to 80 with LZ and 'til today remains of his own. Love your reactions, Verdy. 🙋♀️
oh hell..I had a blonde strat that came from Joe Walsh in the early 80's.. Joe was teaching electronic music at the college in town (kind of on the sly, otherwise that room would have been packed).. I saw a Blonde 70's era strat in the local paper (for...$350) and I knew my friend in another town was looking for one so I called him and bought it from a college student who said he got it from Joe Walsh the year before, but was moving and needed money..(this wasn't a selling ploy as I had already gave him the money when he mentioned it),,, also for sale was a pre CBS Fender twin reverb..for ..$350 that I wanted for myself but didn't have the money for

Ari, Try and imagine being asked to come up with the Bass part in this song. Now go back and listen to it again. I had never paid attention to the Bass for the most part. Randy Meissner
Don Henley did quite a few of the vocals, along with Glen Frey. What made the Eagles special was the number of guitars and great singers. Their vocal harmonies are only bettered by their guitar harmonies.
If you like a band with great harmonies i would recommend the Warning a rock power trio made of three sisters from Monterrey Mexico. And they know how to rock. If you want to see them in action watch the teatro Metropolitan CDMX live 2022 and you will see what i am talking about all three sing and the drummer Paulina also sings lead vocals the lead singer her sister Dani plays guitar and Alejandra (Ale) plays bass. They were invited by Metallica to reimagine the song enter sandman for the Metallica 30th anniversary of the black album which is the Blacklist album.
Since you liked the drummer singing and drumming i would recommend the Warning, the drummer is an excellent singer and drummer her name is Paulina Villarreal (Pau short for Paulina) she was voted best up and coming drummer by Modern drummer magazine of 2023 and in the same year she won the Drumeo award for best Rock drummer of 2023 Check out the song "23" or Dust to Dust where she sings lead.
Being a songwriter, musician and multi-instrumentalist, myself playing drums, guitar and keyboards, I always was an Eagles fan for years. There are quite a few of their songs that I like, however I must admit that this one here is my favorite. The songwriter/drummer/vocalist Don Henley also co-wrote this song. He also has solo albums as well. You are right about the difficulty of drumming and singing at the same time, however there are a few that do it. Mostly everybody knows that Don Henley and Phil Collins does this but, in my opinion, the best one that has done it would have to be Don Brewer for the band Grand Funk Railroad when he's singing the song We're An American Band". I never saw a drummer do so may drum rolls and timing cowbell beats while singing at the same time. That's pretty crazy. And as far as harmonies, that was normal back in the 60's 70's, 80's and some 90's in a lot of bands. A lot of bands had more then one singer, so they always had great backing vocal harmonies. Bands like: Styx, Foreigner, Journey, Yes, Chicago, The Beatles and even heavy bands like Van Halen all had great backing harmony vocals. Two of the bands that I was in, we were all lead vocalists so we could do great harmonies. When I played drums in the bands, I could also sing lead and play at the same time. But you're right, there aren't many who do it because it's not easy, well it is once you get the hang of it, but some drummers practice it a lot and still are never able to do it. I was watching your hand movements, and it looks like you could play drums. I can see how smooth your hand flow is when you're doing the air drums. It looks cool. I bet you could learn to play drums really well if you took a few classes. Great reaction!
@@LeviAWilson There is a band now that has a great drummer and lead singer also on some of their songs plus she is also the main composer her name is Paulina Villarreal Velez from the rock band the Warning she and her two sisters Alejandra and Daniela form the power trio. @@SDsailor7 Well, that's the thing about nowadays. You mentioned one rock band that does great harmonies which is great, however there probably aren't anymore. When I played there were a ton of them. Not just on the major record label signed level but also in the clubs too. It's nice to see that there is a band that does that now, it's just a shame that there aren't a few more. As far as you saying how great of a drummer this person is, I'll have to check that out and see. I started playing music at age 11 and seeing that some of my favorite drummers are Buddy Rich, Neal Peart, Mike Portnoy, Thomas Lang and especially El Estepario Siberiano (who can also play and do one handed drum rolls), it takes a lot of impress me. But thanks for the information.
@@LeviAWilson I will recommend the song "23" from the teatro Metropolitan CDMX live concert 2022 she also sings lead on the song Dust to Dust from the same concert. I know about Stepario Siberian he is a great drummer. And yes there used to be many great rock bands back in the day, I have read that rock has been in decline for many years but that it is slowly coming back and some of these new bands are leading the way. I found the Warning by accident and I for one am glad that I did. They have fans worldwide and are a cult band. I hope their music is to your liking, tons of reactions to their music here on TH-cam.
@@SDsailor7 That sounds pretty good, however Tommy Lee for the band Motley Crue has a part where his drum set comes forward out to the stage and then rotates completely around in a circle while he's playing. There is also another concert where his drum set is on a track and rotates around upside down and right side up as it's moving around the entire stadium. That's pretty crazy. Watch their video for their song called "Wild Side".

I saw a Blonde 70's era strat in the local paper (for...$350) and I knew my friend in another town was looking for one so I called him and bought it from a college student who said he got it from Joe Walsh the year before, but was moving and needed money..(this wasn't a selling ploy as I had already gave him the money when he mentioned it),,, also for sale was a pre CBS Fender twin reverb..for ..$350 that I wanted for myself but didn't have the money for
As Justitia257 said below you need to listen to this version as well "The Eagles - Hotel California (Hell Freezes Over Live 1994)"
THE EAGLES, DIRE STRAITS, PINK FLOYD & CHICAGO PLAYED 4 OF THE BEST TRACKS YOU COULD EVER WISH TO LISTEN TO!
OF COURSE THERE ARE SOME OTHER FANTASTIC GUITAR ORIENTATED TRACKS!!
There's nothing like an EPIC live performance. Here's a few more worth checking out.
Chicago - 25 or 6 to 4 - live at Tanglewood
Santana - Soul Sacrifice - live at Woodstock
Pink Floyd - Comfortably Numb - live pulse concert
The Who - My Generation - Live at Leeds
Such a beautiful, haunting song!!!!!!!!!

Still waiting for reactors to react to my favorite of this album, "The last resort".
All the best from the Netherlands!
Dear Verdi, this has been as great as ever -- love your reactions!
Meilleures salutations d'Allemagne
Fantastic. I recommend the Live acoustic version from 1994. Ciao Ciao
The best songs are between 60s to 90s arebest and meaningful
They were invited by Metallica to reimagine the song enter sandman for the Metallica 30th anniversary of the black album which is the
Blacklist album.
Since you liked the drummer singing and drumming i would recommend the Warning, the drummer is an excellent singer and drummer her name is Paulina Villarreal (Pau short for Paulina) she was voted best up and coming drummer by Modern drummer magazine of 2023 and in the same year she won the Drumeo award for best Rock drummer of 2023
Check out the song "23" or Dust to Dust where she sings lead.
She’s definitely seen it before . Look at her reaction when the guitar starts
All three sing and have great harmonies.
The drummer Pau (pronounced Pow) was voted best up and coming Rock drummer of 2023 by Modern drummer magazine
And in the same year she won the best Rock drummer awarded by the Drumeo awards. They are from Monterrey Mexico.
So check them out if you like hard rock and you will be pleasantly surprised.
Cheers
@@LeviAWilson And forgot to mention that she is singing and drumming at an elevation of 7350ft which is the elevation Mexico city is at.
Robert Plant's The Principle of Moments track title Horizontal Departure has Phil Collins on drums.
HOTEL CALIFORNIA EN BAJA CALIFORNIA SUR MÉXICO
saludos desde Tijuana México.
the drummer has always been the main singer for the band.
VERDY: Please be careful, other reaction channels have had big problems posting Eagles' videos. One of them got their channel shut down. And I've heard other channels mention how weary they are posting Eagles. You're channel is still small right now, but when you get bigger, that's when they notice, and start slapping strikes at channels.
For seeing your fave Stevie Nicks live at her best its Siver Springs in the Official Live Video - she ends up singing in great anger at Lindsay Buckingham.
I know you loved the debut album by “BOSTON” you can see them do live songs from the album also. Please check out “ More Than A Feeling” live.
Yeah Fun. Hit the spit!
❤❤❤❤❤
Another good live performance is by Peter Gabriel (a former member of Genesis) "Solsbury hill" also posted on YT 13 years ago.
To see another of your favorite groups live, Led Zep’s best for that would be the long Kashmir live at Knebworth 1979
