Hi Michael. Looking for a replacement for KTM 525. With the new Sherco's, have you had to remap them ? Are they as torqey as the KTM with 72mm stroke vs the Sherco 63.4mm stroke. Do they get excessively hot when riding tight single track or hills. I hate enduro bikes that are too highly strung and boil easily. Finally I'm 6.2 and looking for a big tall bike. I find the new GASGAS and HUSKY (KTMs) small since 2021. I always have two or three enduro bikes, currently GASG300EC 18 and stupidly sold my 525 for GASGAS350EC 21 .
How is the reliability like and the service intervals on these bikes? How many kms or hours bfr needing a valve clearance or a new top end or bottom end? I'm considering to get their 500 supermoto for daily use. Just abit worried if if require a new top end of valve clearance often
We're now on our 3rd fleet of these bikes. We've owned over 50 of these bikes in the past 3 years now with each bike doing at least 180 hours and 12000km. Reliability is unquestionable with only one engine failure on a bike that had done a lot of work and was being ridden hard at the time. We only use top quality Motul 7100 at all times. The bikes do a lot of longer km's (ie no single track stuff) so we change oil and filter every 1000km (or earlier). We do top ends at 120 hours and valve clearances are pretty much always still in spec at that time. Most bikes don't need any adjustments across their life with us. We've got a couple of bikes at 300 hours that are still on original bottom ends as well.
@@damianmcgrath4351 thank you sir!! That is really helpful! Sherco is rather new here where im from so the confidence is not there! Mostly we ride ktm 350 and drz
Advice please I have been looking at the 500 sherco for road usage what is the hp output on this bike and is there any other bikes around the same class what might be more better for road usage and faster as I was looking at the price of 10,000 pound and you can get other bikes cheaper many thanks
Hi, These bikes have comparable hp to a KTM 500, Beta 480, etc. It is not really designed for strictly road usage - more so for off road & enduro but it will handle road miles without a problem. You would need to alter the gearing for road use. We use 15/48 on our tour bikes as they are mostly used in high speed conditions. This makes the bike good for 160km/h and it cruises comfortably at 110mk/h.
Hi Todd, We haven't increased the oil capacity. We change oil & filter every 1000km and only use top quality Motul 7100 10w60. Our bikes are constantly on the move and can do 1000km every 10-14 days. We've had over 30 x '22 and '23 models in our fleet covering a combined 250,000km without any oil related issues. Keep watching for a long term review video coming soon with heaps of set up tips.
Hi Jay, the bikes come with all ADR gear including O2 sensor and catalytic converter. These are all removed and a ‘Racing’ map is uploaded to the ECU to match the Akro exhaust.
@@damianmcgrath4351 Thanks for the info. Looking at this for racing in Baja. Is the emissions equipment an Aussie thing only or do the US bikes have it as well?
@@zacharysmith7872 These bikes are set up to comply with Aussie rules but are usually derestricted at the dealer before delivery as they are very choked as is. Not 100% sure on the US but I’d imagine California bikes would have it all. Our bikes also come with a ‘racing’ loom that you swap out with the pre installed one to delete all the excess wires for turn signals, etc. All pretty easy to do if you’re mechanically minded. Only thing you’d need a dealer for is to install the race mapping.

Looks good Vroomy. Who knows maybe next year I could give it a go? Cheers Daniel.👍🍺

Awesome. Do you rent the bikes for the adventures?
Yes, we have 18 of these bikes which are available for hire as part of all our tours. 👍

How regular do you have to do oil changes? and have you increased the capacity

How does it stack up against the Honda 450X?
Hi Geoff. This bike is a lot better than the 450X - lighter, better suspension/handling and more power to boot!
How much hp does it have
close to 60hp
@@legendhvh1239 I was reading saying it’s like 53 hp 450 big bore to 500 or 479 or something like that
What did you do to de-restrict the bikes?
