hr (human resources) is for the company. Unions and works council are for the employee. i dont know if a works council exists in the us or if the translation is correct. if you dont know what that is google: Betriebsrat.
Not always the case though. HR protected me from the president because he wanted to jump over a verbal warning and go right to a full write-up after 1 minor incident.
@godofdeath206 well in this case it protected both. you got your kob and the company could not be sued for wrongfull termination. and maybe the hr person liked you.
My friend got called in to meet with his supervisor on his day off. His wife had to leave work early to stay with their two young kids. 30-40 minute drive. Just to get fired and have to turn around and go home. They had 2 supervisors follow him home to collect all his work equipment.
I got walked out of a company once, so weird. I wasn't told that's what was happening it didn't dawn on me at first because I thought our shorter manager was just following me to chat. I realized as she followed me all the way to the door. I couldn't punch in, and talked to her about it, she said she'd take my badge and fix it beforehand. They decided my concerns I might have covid were an excuse to fire me as I came back on Monday after leaving to test on friday. Not something I've ever done before I was concerned also because one of my best trainers' was worried about his grandmother getting covid as it's more dangerous to elderly. Hadn't ever missed a day before that, even when the veterans all skipped some days, and I got a whole team of strangers. They also had previously had a meeting about some make shift tool I had never seen before. We were told it was a firing offense. I can only guess I got thrown under the bus I guess, even though I've never even seen one before the meeting. The company was looking to hire middle eastern refugees. The way they spam the pages of indeed multiple times a page tells me they must hire and fire a lot in retrospective. I get the impression they want fresh meat. It was close to the holidays at the time, so ultimately I was just huh, okay sweet I won't get holiday pay, but I can enjoy myself and not deal with shady politics of this workplace. Don't threaten me with a good time!😅 I take small joy in giving every one of their spammed indeed ads the thumbs down, almost have to when there's 3-4 rewritten posts per page. It's a far cry from the company It used to be before it got bought out by I believe it's an Australlian company.
Story 9 - dude, this is supposed to be when HR screws over employees, not when HR finds a loophole to keep a good worker! (Not that I mind some wholesomeness in the middle of this.)
That was more like HR caught a situation where they could potentially be sued and headed it off. happy ending for the worker but I find it difficult to believe HR did it out of the kindness of their hearts.
Working in IT you see some bad moves by HR. We did layoffs just as covid started. Head of IT security terminated access for HR all day. Even people she knew for decades. Only for herself to be terminated at the end of the day
@catherinep2034 When you're rich, illegal is just a sick bird. It would have been illegal if they said that was the reason. They always come up with a BS reason to fire you because of any kind of discrimination.
The story where the manager got fired because his staff preferred at the old manager makes me mad. I personally hope that afterwards they got a line of measures that were jackasses that treated them all like dirt, In a way that's not actionable
Not HR, but I was the employee that got screwed over. I was laid off while I was recovering from a rheumatoid arthritis related surgery. I got the last laugh though. I worked in the oilfield for 16yrs. After I was laid off, I started telling people about the ADA violations that I put up with, them lying to customers and why a truck was late and other shady stuff. My neighbor at the time was a pumper and he used the company that I worked for. About a few weeks after I was laid off, we was talking and he was complaining about the company. Drivers late to location, pumps not working properly, pumps breaking on location. He was saying that he may need to find another company to use. Told him 'I don't give a fuck. The chicken shit boss laid me off while I was recovering from surgery.' 2 weeks later, he found another company to use. By the end of the year, they lost enough work, the boss called me to see if I wanted my job back. I declined. From mid 2020 to end of 2024, between lost work and buying different equipment to make up for the lost work, I have costs them about $5M.
Thinking That the outcome would have been different if he was a woman is laughable. Women have had it just like that for years and years.. He just got to find out what it feels like... And the utter disbelief of how they would treat employees... Thinking that there's no way this would happen, no way he'd get pushed around if he was a woman is absolutely incorrect. How do you think The stereotypes exist? It's a rough reality no matter who you are and that's really sad that it happened to him. My sympathy. It's not right for anyone!
I worked for a co. that got bought out by a bigger co. All of a sudden, whole departments were being laid off. They'd always say, "That's the last one;" but, two weeks later there'd be another one.
A lot of people to realize that H.R protects the company not the employee

You clearly know nothing about HR.
Be quiet and sit down.

Alternate title: when did the company incur the wrath of the BBB?

Story 23 is a scene from The Office 😂😂😂😂

Whats the game called plzz ???
I was fired while on medical leave, recovering from stage 4 kidney failure.
Isn't that illegal??
@catherinep2034 When you're rich, illegal is just a sick bird. It would have been illegal if they said that was the reason. They always come up with a BS reason to fire you because of any kind of discrimination.
@Fast_Eddy_Magic Oh that's awful. Sorry you went thru that. Hope you are doing better now.
@catherinep2034 Thank you. Stage 3 now, and "retired".
Story 18- I hope those witches got a boss that treated them as well as they treated the other guy
The story where the manager got fired because his staff preferred at the old manager makes me mad. I personally hope that afterwards they got a line of measures that were jackasses that treated them all like dirt, In a way that's not actionable
I'll save everyone time... Don't bother watching.
Any time HR get involved, the employee gets screwed.
Not HR, but I was the employee that got screwed over. I was laid off while I was recovering from a rheumatoid arthritis related surgery. I got the last laugh though. One of the stories was literally ripped off from The office.
I worked for a co. that got bought out by a bigger co. All of a sudden, whole departments were being laid off. They'd always say, "That's the last one;" but, two weeks later there'd be another one.
