    You want to improve your snap shot ... take a look at what *every single one* of these guys is doing with their hands (especially the top hand and wrist) before the shot. That's the key.

      What are they doing exactly? I’m relatively new to hockey. Never played but I want to. Don’t know how to skate yet

      @@gabrielidusogie9189 to help see it better, you can slow down the playback speed of the video by clicking on the gear icon along the bottom popup bar (this may be different if on a mobile device). But, if you can, slow it down to the slowest speed and rewatch the video.
      What you will see they do with their hands is, once the puck is in a shooting position (often right in line with their lead foot toes), their hands come out and away from the body. The top hand (and arm) form almost a u-shaped crook.
      This serves two purposes: 1) it gets the hands away from the body so they can move, and 2) it sets the hands out in front of the puck so you have leverage on it.
      When the shot begins the top hand pulls back into the body and the wrist rotations (like on the throttle of a motorcycle), and the bottom hand "punches" forward and a little be downward to get that friction with the ice to load the stick.
      All of these guys have different variations on their foot work and puck placement, but what they are doing with their hands is all the same.

    what is the point of an off foot shot? i'm genuinely asking

    • @slapshotalley
      @slapshotalley  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      JT Miller demonstrates the technique the best. As he leans over the stick on his off-foot on the outside edge, he's able to use his weight to create flex in the stick to get power into the shot. It's a difficult technique but is much quicker than shooting onto your strong foot. If JT Miller were to do the strong foot shot from the angle he is coming from, he would also have to pivot his body more to the left which would take to much time and telegraph the shot
