    Great video and like your house. Can you please tell us more about what you are using to tow your house with and how well your house is doing as you have towed it thousands of miles. Any problems with the house itself? Cracking or things coming lose not working correctly, like cabinet doors or heat or A/C.
    Any things you have come across while traveling? Road conditions on and off ramps parking and fueling truck. And how fast do you drive while towing?
    Thank you very much

    • @TinyHouseGiantJourney
      @TinyHouseGiantJourney  9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Well, we use a 2006 Ford F-250 6.0 diesel crewcab long bed FX4. We've had some issues with it (busted FICM and cracked coolant overflow tank, probably cracked by the guy who changed the FICM). Other than that it tows fine. We take it easy.
      We usually drive 50-60mph depending on road conditions and wind.
      The house shows virtually no signs of wear from the road, other than human error things. We did have a wood slab countertop crack but I think that's because of humidity/dryness and temperatures (the slab wasn't dry enough). We also had a broken weld on our trailer and had to have that fixed, all good now.
      Our heater is a sailboat wood stove so it doesn't care about movement. We don't have A/C.
      Our trailer is the standard tumbleweed trailer and it's pretty low. The tongue jack, and sometimes the scissor jacks scrape a little, or a lot. We've gone on many roads (18,000 miles) in a variety of conditions, nicely paved, badly paved, potholes, dips, bumps, gravel, sand, grass, off road. The house handles fine! We just drove back from the Arctic Circle on the Dalton highway. Look it up to see what our house can take :)

    Hi, do you have any tips on keeping a tiny house lightweight as possible? Like types of materials you can use to build that are lighter than others? Also how much does your tiny house weigh? Sorry for the questions, love your videos!

    • @TinyHouseGiantJourney
      @TinyHouseGiantJourney  9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      To save on weight, you'd have to look at other building techniques and materials then typical house construction. Most tiny houses (ours included) use typical beefed up house construction because it's the easier, cheaper and most customizable option. But it ends up being heavy... Our house is 10,100lbs fully loaded.

    • @TinyHouseGiantJourney
      @TinyHouseGiantJourney  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      We have a video about grey water somewhere in there too :) but basically we use biodegradable products and usually dump it in sewer dumps.

  • @jerrydensmore2887
    @jerrydensmore2887 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Looks like your truck would benefit from some air bags. Around $250 on Amazon and no drilling install that makes it super easy. The only reason I bring this up cause your truck sinks a good 4 or 5 inches when the house is on it. I think the adjustable ball should be raised also. With the house connected it should be as close to front to back level as possible. A level trailer travels much better when level with the truck. Thanks for sharing.

    • @TinyHouseGiantJourney
      @TinyHouseGiantJourney  9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Jerry Densmore Thanks for the tips. We've adjusted the weight distribution system so that the whole rig tows level. I think we're a little off but within the hitch's design limits. I'll take another look though.

    I live in Wisconsin and am interested in building a tiny house. But the issue I came across is where to put the grey water as it will freeze during the winter, please advise.

    • @TinyHouseGiantJourney
      @TinyHouseGiantJourney  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Brady Madison Well, we're not expert with freezing conditions as we travel south for winter and north for summer. But we do plan on staying in Denver through winter. Though not as cold as Wisconsin, still freezing. We'll have to see. There are many tiny house blogs out there that have figured out how to handle this particular issue though, as well as full time RVers. People have been living in freezing conditions with campers for a while. There should be lots of info online.
