I’m in this exact situation, I had to sell my R5 to purchase the Nikon Z 600mm f4…I shoot both Nikon and Canon. But, I miss my R5 and I’m struggling as to whether I should buy the R5 again or the R5ii. My husband says, you sold the R5 and now you’re going to buy it again…ugh so I preordered the R5ii. I don’t care about video but I shoot wildlife. I’m wondering if I should have bought the RF 600 F4 instead…I know messed up right❤️ Truth is I like both systems.

In addition to the new features that represent a proper evolution, I think it's really good that the resolution has remained at 45MP 👍
Great news for video shooters and for photographers of the three big-ball sports. As a stills shooter who doesn't shoot sports, I'm looking forward to putting the R5ii through its paces. I haven't seen anything justifying an upgrade for me yet, but I will give it a fair try.

There's a bit of inconsistency in the sensor spec with the press releases out there, some saying video can now write 14bit RAW some saying it's the usual 12bit RAW available. Can you clarify?
Hi Burd,
We can help clarify. RAW still images are 14-bit, regardless of shutter settings (mechanical, electronic first curtain or full electronic).
Video is a 12-bit RAW capture.

@@CanonUSA Okay that makes more sense, thanks! In theory though, with the 30fps continuous stills rate, could you essentially access the 14bit sensor readout by firing off a continuous run of stills until the buffer fills out, convert that to cDNG and interpret that as footage? (I'm guessing that wouldn't be very much footage though, but I'm interested in the difference in signal quality).
all i wanna know. can you shoot 120p in CROPPED mode AND full frame, and if you can shoot in various codecs while doing so

No, 4k 120p in crop mode is not possible.
You do have the options of 4k 120 DCI, 4K 120 UHD (uncropped) in Intraframe standard and light.

@@CanonUSA you’d think it would be easier to do cropped 120p in 4K. Am so sad.
Unfortuantely MII version doesn't feature IBIS High Resolution mode, so it is very limited as it doesn't use the multi-exposure IBIS function of the camera any more. Also, the former batter grip isn''t compatible with this camera (same size tough).
Any chance the interval timer will have a continuous shooting option? Instead of the 1 second between each shot? Thanks so much!
Did the Custom White Balance on video mode improve? Or I still need to go tho photo mode, take a picture, go back to video mode and use the photo as a reference?
Hopefully someone can help. I own the r5 ii and the r5 I have the westscott fj400 flash kit. Today I tried to use HSS WITH MY flash kit on the R5ii and it would not go above 1/250th but the r5 mark 1 did as always has. Why does my mark 2 not work in hss. Can someone help. I’ve never had any problems with any of my canon cameras shoot in hss. Until now with the eos r5 ii.
Do you happen to know if this camera has a proximity sensor (for the EVF) that works like the R3, where it isn't constantly coming on every time something brushes past it, like the R5 and R6 does?
Does the flash work in the electronic shutter?
@@CanonUSA This is very confusing guys ... all Online Photo sites (B&H, Adorama, etc.) clearly state that electronic shutter is indeed available for flash sync (similar to the R3). Even Lindsay Adler in her R5mkii promo video states that she can shoot flash with up to 20 fps, which clearly refers to the electronic shutter. Please investigate and clarify.

To clarify, both the R5 Mark II and the R1 are able to use flash with electronic shutter. The electronic shutter sync speed for the R1 1/320 ( up to 1/400 when [Sync speed priority] is set). On the R5 Mark II the electronic shutter synch speed is 1/160. Details will be in the camera manuals once they are released. Hope this information helps.

Does the Dual Shooting feature work in 8K RAW?
Dual shooting is specifically designed to work with full HD video and takes JPG photos that are about 33MP. Hope this helps!
Can you see the battery percentage in the viewfinder and top display like on the EOS R1?
