  • I am so happy to be testing the O-Cedar Spin Mop and The Shark Steam Mop. I have been using this Shark Steam Mop for about a year and I just purchased the O-Cedar Spin Mop, so I purchased a brand new mop pad for this test. I love conducting bacteria testing with Petri dishes and sterile swabs to see which products disinfect and work well in my home!

    I'm curious how the steam mop would perform if you didn't follow the manufacturer's instructions and didn't mop for as long as a duration. Perhaps mop for the same amount of time as the spin mop to see how well it works like that.

    I'm wondering if the instructions for the steam mop meant that you can mop anywhere for 3 minutes and then the unit is ready for sanitization, then at that point, you go over the areas you want sanitized 15 times so that you don't have to go over each section 3 minutes plus 15 swipes, but just get it ready for 3 minutes?? Instructions don't seem exactly clear. But that's what I thought.

    I just found your channel because I was researching steam mops and I've already watched a few videos. I love your petri dish testing method. The one cleaner I use all over my apartment is the Lysol power and clean that you can dilute. It claims it kills 99.9% of germs and bacteria even when diluted and I was wondering if you'd be willing to test it.

    I have the O-Cedar new spin mop and I hate it! It’s difficult to fill, and tips easily. It’s too large to fit in my kitchen sink, so I have to fill it with a pitcher, and I always spill it. You can’t just pick it up and move it like a regular bucket, because it’s not balanced. So it winds up being dragged across my floor. 😡 The mop head is way too small, and seems to flip while I’m mopping. I find myself using the O-Cedar spray mop a lot more. Cleans just as well without all the hassles.

    • @FieldOfFocus
      @FieldOfFocus  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I guess the Ocedar isn't for everyone. I fill mine in my bathtub, I haven't had a hard time moving it around, but it makes me miss those roller wheel mops! Those were super easy to move around while mopping. The head is a bit small, but I like the size because I can get into some tighter places, it would be fantastic if they had different size mop heads! I haven't had the flipping problem with this one, but I did with my Norwex mop.. it flipped constantly and it is super annoying. I haven't used the O-cedar spray mop, but I will have a look at that. Right now, I am using my crosswave way more than my OCedar and my steam mop. Hopefully you can find what works best for you! Thanks for watching.

    Love your channel! I wonder how much difference it makes with having the separate bucket for clean water, or if it's just the microfiber doing it's thing by picking up the bacteria and hanging onto it. I also wonder if you did an entire floor or a couple rooms of floors with the O Cedar mop, if the section at the end would have bacteria on it or not.

    • @FieldOfFocus
      @FieldOfFocus  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thank you! I like having the separate water buckets so not to spread knowingly dirty water all over the rest of the floor. I should do some more mop tests, you make some great points about possible efficacy. All great things to investigate!

    thank you SO much from the bottom of my heart for creating this page. What would be a good laminate floor cleaner and or disinfectant that you would recommend? Something to reduce bacteria and dog odor on floors (no issues with urine, just general dog scent). I do see the linked bissell floor cleaner + sanitizer products, but I do not own a crosswave. Anything else you would recommend? (even if not officially tested yet). I was considering trying odoban disinfectant on my floors, but should I first use an actual cleaner, since odoban is technically just a disinfectant? Or would that serve a dual purpose? Open to any other suggestions as well!

      According to their website "Multi-purpose microfiber mop removes over 99% of bacteria with water** **Removes, does not kill, over 99% of E. coli and Staph. aureus from pre-finished hardwood flooring and ceramic tiling using tap water, as tested at an independent accredited lab." So it is mechanical removal. Thanks for watching.
