- much easier to sing in welsh when the words aren't all consonants. the welsh words have been simplified to make them easier to read/sing
hope it helps:)
original 'welsh-worded' lyric vid here;
• Calon Lân lyrics
also Hen Wlad fy Nhadau (welsh national anthem) here: • Welsh National Anthem ... - เพลง
Being half welsh I really enjoyed this version as I am trying to learn welsh.
I like the original Welsh best - once you've learned how the letters are pronounced, it's easy. Like any language, it's best to learn it "as is"! Cymru am byth!
Really Great!
how about a phonetic version of 'Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau' Would save me looking like a real Ninny so often.
Brilliant! I have to learn this for a funeral, my mother’s, who is Welsh.
Thank you.
Exactly - me too....
Beautiful.
thanks, i couldnt pronounce or get timing right before but now with this version, its all better, thanks!

Awesome this made it easier to follow.
the words, 'calon lan' mean pure heart and 'calon onest' means an honest heart
What happened to the phonetic 'hen wlad fy nhadau promised??
Is it Katherine Jenkins? Loved it
The words in Cymraeg (Welsh) are not all consonants! We have 7 vowels as against the English 5 because w and y are also vowels and it is a phonetic language anyway!
Thank You
ive been really busy lately (sorry!) and will have itt up as soon as i can :)
They are alternate verse lyrics I think, but thank you!
thanks!
+SeventhNightingale Calon lan means pure heart
I had never noticed Dafydd Young's comment and I know he must be Welsh as I had an uncle who had the same first name... I meant the consonants have been removed degree but as my Grandparents moved to Canada when my mom was very young, .. My Gran was fluent obviously in Welsh as she lived there and my mom to a was not fluent as she moved to Canada at a young age, but I found that by learning this version first it was far simpler to pick up the true version....Bye kathy
@demonglyn thanks a lot:) haha and okay i'm im working on it at the mo :) will be up in the next few hours:D
STILL working on it, 11 years hence?
in school we have it much easier and she explained too! its like: nid oin govin boa-id moith-iss eye ra bead ny bel-eye man govin oiv am galon hapus calon onest calon lan
chorus:
calon lan un hllown diony teck-ach ew na lily dlorse dim ond calon lan arth ganny canny-r dydd a canny-r norse
pear demeenon olid bud-ol quim addenith ee though seethe glid calon lan roon wethon unn doon buthol ethoo feethe
chorus
hoer bore unn meen yad eskin arr adennith
great video sort of but the words are wrong in welsh version
sorry havent been on here because school work took over: the link is in the description!(scroll up)
Wouldn't it be cool if Anna Netrebko and/or Celtic Women covered this beautiful Welsh tune, or if it were sung by a high school choir, and/or played by a high school band?
we did this in school...the WHOLE school singed on saint David's day
Dwi’n happis acoss dwi’n mindy party
The ll sound isn't like the English th at all. But thanks for the effort.
I'm welsh and only a couple of words have been misspelled
They misspelt them so people who aren't welsh understand how to pronounce them the person said they made it easier to read that's probably why :)
It is true.. My Grandma spoke and sang Fluent Welsh.. and sang that song a lot.. I sing at Festivals etc and they think it is cool I can sing a Welsh song as in Canada not many speak Welsh. I had no trouble learning it with the consonants altered ..
WONDERFUL..my vocal coach speaks three languages fluently, English Italian and French so LOL when I announced I want to correctly lean Calon Lan after hearing it on BGT, she said I would make her grey hair turn white in a nonth..I already had two of the musical scores a slow tempo and a faster tempo, but this seems to be the best..I learned a song in Maori and numerous in Italian...so my fingers are crossed as I LOVE this song...Gorgeous..
Ardderchog!!
