For the Draygoon room (the shrimp boss) you must do a quick shinespark : walk 2 steps IN WALKING MODE then press the run button. If you walk 2 steps before running your shinespark will charge in very short distances !

I mean, that's the term used by the Metroid community across the entire series. If you watch basically any speedrunner or rando players that's how they'll refer to them, because the reason you take damage without Varia in those rooms is the high heat.
@@kennyrichardson3842thats fair enough, but when i google search "metroid heated rooms", i see them mostly called either "super-heated rooms" or "hot rooms", which both sound less like something i would want at my hotel visit.

I love it when Vinny pulls off a speed run trick first try, unfortunately he couldn't figure out the speed shine spark in that one room
I wouldn't say Vin is bad at games per se, it's more a case of sometimes he'll blind things or make questionable decisions.
In terms of platforming, aiming, puzzle-solving and other skills that games require I'd be comfortable saying Vin is slightly above average in most genres he plays - while also entertaining a sizable audience.
That being said the most enjoyable part for me is how much fun he's having.
I think it's a combo of him being watched live (when they are) and trying to be funny for his audience (random noises and non sequiturs). It's the equivalent of someone unable to walk and chew gum at the same time.
Watch Vinny play Ultrakill. His aim and Tracking are nuts. Could never pull that shit off.
I'm always amazed to see what people have done with these decades old games. It's remarkable.
Oh hell yeah, Map Rando kicks ass. It can be a bit of a pain to manage at first, depending on how well you know the rooms and how good your own intuition is, but seeing everything jumbled together like this goes a really long way in spicing the game up.
Even though he mentioned he'd never do the Link to the Past/Super Metroid combined rando, it's always fun to see him do randomizers of either/or individually, such classic games to play and watch on stream

What are those first few rooms? not even just how he gets two powerful abilities, but he has to like, go bottom right for a E tank so he can tank damage for the bottom left room for the speed booster so he can go to the top right room for the screw attack so he can go to the top left room and actually progress. I've never seen something like that before.
I've never played fully through Super Metroid or watched the entirety of a playthrough, so having these on in the background and just peeking occasionally I'm often impressed by Vin's skills in this. Don't worry Vinny, you're good at some games lol. It'd probably take me countless playthroughs to be even as good as you at Super Metroid, given how I've done in my ~10 hours of playing in the past.

I'm relativly newer to your channel. Early on you mentioned soething about games and how you play them. Would you consider yourself more of a casual gamer? Like you kinda just play a bit of everything instead of playing one game at a time or a whole series? Just curious. You did GREAT in Super Metroid being randomized. I take it you must be close to my age (43) going by how well you knew the game. Or maybe you played it on a emulator later in life? I love the series but probaly couldn't remember what levels are which, which powerful I just unlocked...etc.
So we got zero mission as a remake in the style of fusion, then we got samus returns in the (not yet released at the time) style of dread, so I wonder what we'll get in the future for metroid 6, and hownthat will affect the look of the super metroid remake, assuming we follow that pattern?

The link for the randomizer is in the description, it has a bunch of customizable parameters for generating a game, including the ability to use a specific seed to allow others to play the exact same setup. It seems to randomize with logic, meaning it will never generate a game that's impossible to complete, however the page does mention that you need to be smart about which map tiles you're able to enter/traverse at any given time because it is still possible for you to fail certain puzzles (ex: collapsing blocks) and not have the equipment to get out of it. It recommends saving frequently to avoid loss of progress

I recommend the combined Super Metroid / Zelda 3 randomizer, it's pretty fun as you have to go back and forth between the games to progress exploration, and it's not that hard.

This was first, and the resulting term is "Metroidvania", for a game with that kind of structure. Konami was inspired in a good way.
If only some small indie developers could take the best elements of Metroid and combine them with the best elements from Castlevania, that would definitely be cool. They could call it a castleroid
