There isn't a standardized full-size layout, unfortunately. :( With the 60HE there are plenty of different boards with the same layout, which makes cases more worthwhile. And because of its full-size, cases would be big and heavy, so that doesn't help much either. D:
It's pretty on-character for this to be announced within a week of me already preordering a Tofu Redux, and the PC plate also being announced the day that my POM plate arrived in the mail... I already had theme plans with the Tofu... But that Ocean Blue would also perfectly match another keycap set I have laying around... UHG.
This is my exact situation. Ordered the 60he then broke down ordered the Redux. A week later this case drops and see the new plate but I instead gave in and conveniently ordered the Ocean Blue case as the color called to me. Now to find a setup for the Redux....

I'm more tempted to get the Tofu60 redux simply because I don't care as much for the strap on the left side. I somewhat prefer the Ocean Blue alumaze over the Dark Blue from tofu.
U can try out the L45 switches for only 10€ theyre underwhelmingly light from my experience and I only use light switches for all my keyboard builds try it out before buying the 70 pack, you could regret it.
I was bugged about the lack of arrow keys too, but the way they implemented them as shift keys is really elegant and very easy to get used to. I use arrow keys a LOT btw.
During my use, I found that the strap did not offer any benefits, but is often in the way. The strap mount on the standard case results in an approximate 5mm increase in width at the corresponding area. For the aluminum variant, I presume this would mean the entire left side is similarly widened. Without this feature, the case would have looked more streamlined and aesthetically pleasing. I can only wish good luck with finding buyers for this.
@@nobodynoone2500, grinding off the strap holder would make the look worse because the slot is partially embedded in the frame (rather than adjacent to the frame). You'll end up with a recess in the frame. The frame is costly, if you are about that. Fortunately the @Wooting guys made 60HE so good that it doesn't really require any modifications and would probably stay in use until some major gimmick becomes widely spread (e.g. some keyboards with embedded MicroLED screens).
yeah, so true, the only reason I'm not buying it is the strap (not using it, takes desk space) and its hole on the case that creates a "left padding" :/ I don't like it at all, a symmetrical case would have been better, maybe hiding the hole on the side and not making it take additional space on the case.

We have no plans to make an alu case for the 2HE. Completely different style of case design, and unlike the 60% market, it wouldn't be compatible with any other keyboard out there.

The 60HE "Module" (a barebones version of the 60HE with no case or switches) will support both plate mount and screw in stabs. Calder's showing off a prototype in the cases in the video. :)
For $100+? I'd rather get an RK61 Pro or Aeon AC61M just to steal the case and build from there..... You can get a Leobog Hi75 kit for $60 USD which is all aluminum case, fully gasketed and south facing LEDs
$200 cad for a case is outrageous... this is super overpriced while you can buy an amazing one from Kab fans for only 59 usd... its the same and also sounds just as great..
You'll need to add import taxes, duties, and shipping fees to that 59 USD -> 80 CAD to make the correct comparison. If you already own a 60HE, you get 15% discounted. Depending on your country the price comparison come out differently, in US and EU (especially with the discount), you're better off.
But you made it TRAY MOUNT 🤢🤮 The worst and most outdated mounting style in custom keyboard history. Stiff, hollow and all together bad. All you had to do was add some little bumps on the edges and it could have been gummy o-ring (burger mount) which is still used in the highest end customs and is super cheap, easy and universal
It looks very nice and all... BUT an aluminum case does so little when you're still using a screw-in tray mount (and steel/alu plate). Where's the gasket/leafsprings/tadpoles/oring literally anything?! Where's the daughterboard? The fact that there's no sound test (FOR A $315 back-ordered board?!??!!?) says everything. You don't have to wait until another company does HE rapid trigger in a far better board... you can just make a better product now for people to enjoy... Hopefully a better layout than 60% which is unbelievably annoying in countless games and tasks that use navs/arrows/f-row. You guys did it, you made something that ACTUALLY, GENUINELY has a significant competitive advantage, so it's very frustrating that your products are so hard to recommend given their horrible sound, horrible layout, extremely high price, and no availability.... Legitimately, I would love an explanation for what is going on over there that these decisions are being made to make such a golden goose product not live up to its potential.
I hear what you're saying, but keep in mind these are the annoyances that you're running into for your ideal keyboard. Those annoyances are not all shared across the board. Let me help clarify a bit our reasoning for the product choices so far. 60% tray mount is the easiest and best layout to mod, it has the most 3rd party cases out there and has been part of the mk community for more than a decade. There are no other standard or universally used layout. You can already see from gaming companies that are trying to cross the bridge between (gaming) performance and enthusiast over the years drop the ball because either: 1. The keycaps for the layout are difficult to acquire and limited in choice, especially for mainstream (see 65% or 75%). 2. The layout and mount method is unique to that brand and isn't cross brand compatible. 3. There is no 3rd party company to even bother making an aluminum or other material case for said layout with unique mount. Unlike all other layouts, with the 60% you were already able to choose alu cases from brands such as freebird, mekanisk, kbdfans, random oem vendors on ali, and even leafspring salvation case. Far easier for mainstream to mod themselves and get their feet wet in the enthusiast market. Not to mention, how easy it is to get keycaps for a 60% layout, they are all compatible! In addition, 60% has been thankfully popularized in the gaming scene and is an accepted layout for competitive players. Making it the ideal layout for kicking things off. All the enthusiast boards you mention with the unique mounting methods lock you in their brand, there is no cross compatibility. Have you ever taken a PCB from brand A and installed it in a case from brand B because brand B gasket mount is dope? Don't think so. We released our own official aluminum case, not to lock you in, but to give you another option. We felt we were able to provide value here with the adjustable angled feet and a more pronounced design. Furthermore, once you see the next product, it'll start to click how it all comes together. I'll leave the sound part as subjective, there are numerous ways to mod sound, and everybody has their own preference. Does this mean we don't consider doing other layouts and mounting? No, we do, and are in fact working on such. And it'll be a better board for you.

A grinder or file should fix that on the normal keeb. I also don't get the strap, but if 5mm extra is the only issue ya got bigger problems.

the bumps are there 👍 Video models don't all have it as they are samples going through iterations.
