Run jumper wires between the controller ground and the ground for the components that aren't working (pump, sensors and valves). The removed chassis and body panels may have isolated these various suspension components from their shared ground path.

@BoostedBoiz something ive learned from my local non tesla body repair shop, if you go to the software tab and hold on the car's model title for a few seconds (my case model 3), it will ask for a service code. level 1 service is literally just "service" 🤦♂. its easy to back out afterwards. i have entered service mode multiple times, for brake burnishing and testing and disabling E-Breaking to diagnose a noise issue. i took it to a T service center and they have not told me that ive been in service mode multiple times, but they might of not told me everything they can see. i recommend you only go into service mode after they tell you that they cant help you. also i saw another comment saying to try local tesla authorized repair shops as they might help without restrictions.
When you install the new one put some thin rubber washers between it and the chassis to reduce chassis vibration that might be breaking stuff on the inside. Isolation damper basically, same thing on an electrical transformer.
It's probably the level sensor reading for the air suspension. Check out the Custom air suspension on my 2015 Model S 70d. Mine doesn't have those sensors, so... no errors! The original system had a closed loop air system that required a 300 psi recharge or pure nitrogen.

It's because they cannot repair it by policy and don't want a recording if them saying "ye just bring it in rough this loophole". Without recording it's much easier to deny you said it

Autospark here, while ecus and drivers do fail, 9/10 times they die due to a wiring or part fault, if they even fie atall, so what im getting at is be prepared for your new unit to either not fix the fault, or get killed due to a fault elsewhere. Best of luck sorting it.
Deoxit gold all the connectors that might have gotten wet or vibrated. The ride must be harsher with so much mass removed which might have caused so much more vibration to damage the wiring. Carbon or magnesium wheels would be a great mod for e-rod.
If you're referring to a SERVICE CENTER, Tesla offers options as others have suggested like using the app to make an appointment. That's preferred. By definition, a dealership is a franchise that can pretty much do what they want for pricing and service. Tesla handles everything directly, hence the direct to consumer philosophy. Ford is switching to this as well with their EV line, largely due to inflated pricing during supply issues of as much as $30k or more on top of the vehicle price.
I know EV's get a bad rap in the car world but it's great to see you boost (ha pun intended) up these small shops that are showing that you can still mod and have fun with your EV. It is not an issue of if they will work on a chopped up or modified car... It is the fact that they lock down part and diagnostic tools. Give us access to parts and diagnostic tools just like all other car manufacturers are required to.
A electronic ground is required for digital signals to register Zero, otherwise many readings are stuck on logic one, pull down resistors require a low resistance to the body ground.

May not be a bad ground but yes that way you are saying is the correct way to test a wire. a bad wire will pass the continuity test with a meter but not be able to flow any actual current.

Older battery packs can have individual cells replaced. There are third parties that can perform that service. The newest models have the batteries covered by a foam that is difficult to remove.
Kyle I'm a certified Tesla technician, to disconnect the battery, unplug the 12v battery as you have, and to unplug the main battery, there is a plug under the rear seat on the passenger side. That is the correct way to do it.
Maybe that module failed in the first place because some of the car's wiring is missing (which means less total resistance in the circuit) and that changes the voltage and amp values a tiny bit across the line, just a guess tho

I really enjoy seeing all of the diverse content on this channel. Keep up the great work.
Definitely one of your best videos for a while. Go Kyle!
Say what? lmao Hes been posting a ton of Grade A content from World Cup and his builds, and you say this is the best vid in a while lmao foh
Wow, you walked into a tesla dealership and told them you had a model s plaid with no body panels and none of them were like, yeah I want to see that?
That tells a whole story about the electric car community.....
@@JasonAJames Kinda snobby to me.
That was exactly my thoughts too, if i was the SA i would have said….catch the phones i have to go see this and likely grabbed a tech to see it too. From what i can tell and seen just over the net, most EV dealer/owner’s could care less about performance or what they are capable of. EVs to most of them is just a status symbol but the power junkies love all forms of power, that second dealer had some cool guys but its always that one thats got to pull rank and stop somebody from videoing them when they came out into that video lol
He should have just tried to get them tonwork on it he made it weird by explaining everything and sounded sketch doing it I'm surenhe coulda got someone tocdo it if hedidint act sus from the start
he said literally ALL of them wanted to see it and take pictures
I really enjoyed this. It's fun watching the diagnosis of problems
Bro why have you not slapped a #Fueltech ECU on that thing yet? You know they can do electric stuff, and I'd bet you could piggyback it in pretty easily. Just something to think about. ✌️
I don't think plaid inverter has been hacked yet but the regular ones have definitely already been hacked. You cna control pack and motors on all other configurations
Chops off body, removes doors, unplugs components...
"I dont really want to get in over my head and mess this thing up" xD
Starting to wonder how much longer we have to wait for companies like EV-control to come with controllers^^
Fueltech already supports electric i believe 🙂
@@tessierrr so does aem through the Holley high voltage division specifically tesla stuff. They also have an s197 gt with the Ford mach e motor in the back runs high 11s with a small 35kwh multiple hybrid pack setup.
They just don't control plaid inverters yet but a couple companies do make controllers for the regular packs and motors like in the model 3/y/s

I love that “limp mode” gets you to 91 miles an hour. Only in a Tesla lol
That isn't slow…
@@wobblysauceyeah that's his point...
Yeah... 91 in limp mode... pretty funny, considering the i3 top speed is 93... so pitiful.
I wonder if that's so you can get to 88mph still and go back in time.
Future software purchase program coming in 2025*
When you install the new one put some thin rubber washers between it and the chassis to reduce chassis vibration that might be breaking stuff on the inside. Isolation damper basically, same thing on an electrical transformer.
If you get the car fixed, definitely do a video or 2 cruising around getting peoples reactions and racing on the streets haha
It's probably the level sensor reading for the air suspension. Check out the Custom air suspension on my 2015 Model S 70d. Mine doesn't have those sensors, so... no errors! The original system had a closed loop air system that required a 300 psi recharge or pure nitrogen.
With the weight reduction alone, could it throw off the level sensors expectations?
@@f.f.s.d.o.a.7294 Very possible. It's more likely that that board / level reader got thrashed from not being protected from the elements.
Any place that won’t let you record a conversation is always sketch to me. They 100% are recording you with cameras, and phone calls are recorded. I get what the law states for private property etc, but if your first and only concern is whether someone can document an interaction it's always suspect to me.
Why can banks record your conversation but they have kittens if you want to record them . . . .
It's because so many people get on and bash tesla. I don't think another car manufacture receives as much hate as they do
@@Shiftheads BMW
It's because they cannot repair it by policy and don't want a recording if them saying "ye just bring it in rough this loophole". Without recording it's much easier to deny you said it
Electrify Garage thanks for doing the thing and working on this broken Tesla!
That was the quietest dealership shop I've ever seen. You could of herd a ant fart.
Sheep, cattle too perhaps?
@@dodgemf1 I want to hear a fly fart. I bet its a funny little zipper sound.

Rip to charging using a Tesla Supercharger
That would of happened when car got a salvage title.
You should look closer at the PCB, it's probably just a bad resistor or a dry solder joint

BB need to reach out to Elon and get his reaction to this series.
why? Musk is a buffoon who inherited money from his daddy's emerald mining slaves. The ONLY thing he's ever done worth anything is founding and finding talent for SpaceX. HE'S NOT DOING SCIENCE. He's not an inventor. He's a rich boy who's chosen areas of interest that make him seem smart.
Autospark here, while ecus and drivers do fail, 9/10 times they die due to a wiring or part fault, if they even fie atall, so what im getting at is be prepared for your new unit to either not fix the fault, or get killed due to a fault elsewhere. Best of luck sorting it.
Looks like that compressor tank doubles as a strut brace. Pretty cool.
It does, they are really proud of combining the two. Before it was a standard alum tank mounted elsewhere.
Clear Ignorance !!
Sandy Munroe acknowledged this as brilliant
Wow, i remember 7 years ago the Q&A you did on this channel. Glad to see you over 1.2M subs now
get rid of the air sus and a get a coilover system. it is much easier to service and it is lighter.

Deoxit gold all the connectors that might have gotten wet or vibrated. The ride must be harsher with so much mass removed which might have caused so much more vibration to damage the wiring. Carbon or magnesium wheels would be a great mod for e-rod.
Hey Tesla, my model S blew up!
Tesla: Successful programmed disassembly
It might not be loud and rowdy dead dinosaur horsepower. But it's a different type of speed and modification; it's still modification though!
It’s special you think cutting off most of the sheet metal and gutting a car “modifying”..
This idiocy is going to kill racing. It will 💯 be whoever has the most money to buy the latest and greatest wins. Any moron with enough money can buy a blan and take it to the strip and get like results. Zero skill and ingenuity involved.
@@lanejohnson7656 That's a valid argument; I see the same thing in the music world with a lot of tools/effects being much more accessible to your average person.
But I'd counter that while you'll probably see more "noise" as it were, the "signal" aka, what racing enthusiasts really like - will still be fun and exciting by the rules of those races.
Just like driving normal cars. Millions of people driving a gutless 15 year old car has not ruined racing.
The community just needs to figure out how to do racing with EV's where it's not just a tack on thing.
Like it or not, the change is coming in someway or another; why not work to embrace it and make it fun instead of digging in ones heels?
@@Daphoid The only reason it’s coming is because it’s being shoved down our throats by tyrants over lies.. Start digging craters in the earth In the US instead of across the world, out of sight and out of mind and watch all the morons lose their minds.. If EV was so great people would gravitate to it naturally, the tyrant government wouldn’t have to mandate it. The weak azz power grid struggles to keep up the way it is and you fools think throwing millions of cars on it is a good idea.. lol.
The difference of people driving 15 year old gutless cars is. You can literally make something out of them so they are no longer gutless.. I guarantee you in the 80’s and 90’s people didn’t want to be caught dead in something like a pinto wagon or a Volvo wagon. But today watching them rip off 6 sec 1/4 mile or low to mid 4 sec 1/8 mile runs is pretty badass. Built for less than one of these pile of 💩 Tesla’s by the way and will absolutely smoke them.
Power probe makes a 5v generator adapter. You can generate the 5v ref with it
Pretty decent “Black Friday Special”, y’all got there, for them coming out and doing some real diagnosis, versus, throwing parts at it.
Don’t think Tesla treated y’all that bad, as I suspect they’re roped in by franchise agreements.
Kewl that these guys are taking their experience and knowledge, and carrying it forward, creating a niche business, and providing service options for people.
Ask if they can remove the max discharge limiter from the battery for more power. 😊
It is not an issue of if they will work on a chopped up or modified car... It is the fact that they lock down part and diagnostic tools. Give us access to parts and diagnostic tools just like all other car manufacturers are required to.
Skin all the exterior panels from the stock body and body clip them in place so you have a facade mode
Rich Rebuilds to the rescue! 😂
Boosted Boiz maybe going to the Electric Garage.
Elon has to know about what you did anbet he loves it
If he loves it he should stop making it difficult to mod Teslas.
A electronic ground is required for digital signals to register Zero, otherwise many readings are stuck on logic one, pull down resistors require a low resistance to the body ground.
Who spilled a twisted tea on it 😂
OK, I saw the EV "exhaust speakers" on a SEMA video and laughed out loud. It's the adult version of putting playing cards on your bicycle spokes.
I think it would be more amusing to have the sound of Fred Flintstone's feet slapping the pavement.
You should load test the ground not just trust the power probe
Another electricity, electronics Ignorant, non electrical, electronics technician. 😞
Hey if it's not too late, I'm parting a model s in central Florida if you want to grab the air ride controller. I'm just not sure if it's the same part number.
Always test your power and grounds with a substituted load... a turn signal light... a headlight... something... i bet u still have a bad ground...
May not be a bad ground but yes that way you are saying is the correct way to test a wire. a bad wire will pass the continuity test with a meter but not be able to flow any actual current.
Sean Miller; another obvious ignoramus; non-technician, especially within electrical more so electronics !! 😞

Someome tag elon😂. Get the builder/tuner community into this and oh lordy look out. Tesla through the roof. Theyll def have to double production of battery and motor. I get from his side why that wont happen and has been such a battle. But as a mech engineer with 6 cars, all but 1 heavily modded.. some of the BEST solutions and input ive ever heard were from the tuner movement.

Older battery packs can have individual cells replaced. There are third parties that can perform that service. The newest models have the batteries covered by a foam that is difficult to remove.
Welp - I guess I broke it 😅
LOL in a glorious way! xD
Kyle
I'm a certified Tesla technician, to disconnect the battery, unplug the 12v battery as you have, and to unplug the main battery, there is a plug under the rear seat on the passenger side. That is the correct way to do it.
Go into the service menu. Press and hold model name for 5-10 secs. Release. Write "service" in the text box that pops up. Good access to fault codes
The guys from Electrified Garage rock, that was way cool of them to come and help Kyle out...solid.
As a Tesla owner I didn't even know there was a way to see codes within the car!
Maybe that module failed in the first place because some of the car's wiring is missing (which means less total resistance in the circuit) and that changes the voltage and amp values a tiny bit across the line, just a guess tho
Those don't run a open electrical system, every component gets "x" voltage/amps....
That would be like having the alternator wired direct to the lights
Love how you blokes conducted yourselves. I hope Tesla see this and realize the missed opportunity for their techs to learn. Good on yas.
Eroy gets more looks on the road than a hypercar lol
That diagnostic mode is no joke, impressive af actually
Legitimate question here. Why does he blur out the gauge cluster?

I dont know about exhaust notes on EV's- but I do like the Speakers for "rev sounds" anyways- it'd be really cool to create your own sound wave for your car to differentiate it from the others.
