Let me tell you something. This was a magic time, a magic moment, Theresa was on Fire and the whole band was being held up by the Holy Spirit! So Blessed to have been party of those last Grammy Award Winning Years and all the special nights at the Barn that went with it. This is one example of the magic that Got a Hold. ❤️❤️❤️
Long Black Veil has been one of my favorite Americana songs ever, since I was 15. When my son went to dance through Croatia in 2000, with Vela Luka dance troupe, they did Western music and dance, LBV was everyone’s favorite Western song.❤

This a phenomenal version of this song. Teresa Williams has an amazing voice...
Cackling Crow Is Teresa Williams sister of Lucinda Williams?

You were Brilliant Levon, missed by many.. rest peacefully beautiful soul❣✌
Arguably the greatest Country and Western song of all time.
Definitely...
Agreed
100% true
Makes me pat my foot.and hum.
Levon will always be one of my favorites too. The Band was great! I’ve always said, Levon was the heart and soul of The Band. The kid from Turkey Scratch Arkansas. There is a Rock N Roll Heaven. And they have one helluva drummer. His name is Levon Helm.
It was a COLLECTIVE
Levon Helm the true artist all the way 💙💙💙💙
Shout out to Larry Cambell and Amy Helm.. Larry is a true inspiration to all performers 😊
The joy of the musicians makes me cry...
Levon Helm will always be one of my favorites. Maybe I'll get to see him again some day. Thanks Levon for all you gave to us.
I know a man, and I know a book!!!! He’ll get you there and get you exactly what you are seeking!!!
You could tell the end was near God bless RIP Levon
One of the more interesting things about the Long Black Veil is that it is not an ancient song of Appalachia
The truth is that "Long Black Veil" is a 1959 country ballad, written by Danny Dill and Marijohn Wilkin and originally recorded by Lefty Frizzell.
So true..I remember Lefty's version being played alot on country stations and beer joints..
Marijon Wilkin - My Long Black Vail is a song everyone should listen to
jo
That's OK. Still brings cold 😎
Amazing that Javier Bardem gets to play with Levon.
Is that what you're asking me? Is there something wrong with anything?

He is my hero
One of the best versions I’ve ever heard
Best version from the best band.
Levon is an example of somebody becoming more cool with age.
BEST LONG BLACK VEIL .LEVON HELM .
Couldn't wait to hear Levon's incredible voice nail this classic to the wall. No dice. Oh well.
No one does a better version of this song than you guys.the best!
Stan Stephenson ummm I'm sorry but Johnny Cash Austin city limits 1987.
It's Lefty's song. He killed it. This has way too much drums for such a dark, brooding song. It's almost too fast.
@@willthorson4543 Disagree - this has just the right tone and Teresa has just the right voice
Well said. Everything was so perfect!!!!!
@@nathanmester4585 as I would have to disagree as well, Daryle singletary in my opinion has done the best version of this song with Johnny paychecks blessing
There's nobody does it like Theresa Williams! Jr
Except Rick Danko w The Band - so incredibly haunting!
Nicely done by a great group of musicians. RIP Levon.
excelente banda. phenomenal voices
That guy playing the mandolin, Larry Campbell, guys awesome. He spent alot of time playing for dylan. Multinstrumentalist.
God love Levon. Playing for Jesus now.
Ten years ago, on a cold dark night
Someone was killed, 'neath the town hall light
There were few at the scene, but they all agreed
That the slayer who ran, looked a lot like me
The judge said son, what is your alibi
If you were somewhere else, then you won't have to die
I spoke not a word, thou it meant my life
For I'd been in the arms of my best friend's wife
She walks these hills in a long black veil
She visits my grave when the night winds wail
Nobody knows, nobody sees
Nobody knows but me
Oh, the scaffold is high and eternity's near
She stood in the crowd and shed not a tear
But late at night, when the north wind blows
In a long black veil, she cries ov're my bones
She walks these hills in a long black veil
She visits my grave when the night winds wail
Nobody knows, nobody sees
Nobody knows but me
He is one of the greatest and his Band
Spot on!
No one does or have ever did as great a job on this song as you guys!!!
Check Gillian Welch and Dave Rawlings in Victoria, closing the show with this. Seriously...very subdued interpretation. I like anything Levon ever did, including this, but it could be argued this might be a bit energetic and stompy for the lyrical subject matter...not that I'd make that argument. But I wouldn't go so far as to say there are no better versions till you hear Welch and Rawlings...and possibly others.
It's no original band but it's a close second.. R.I.P Levon Helm, Rick Danko, and Richard Manual the greatest trio to work together
...and Robbie Robertson too. 😔
@@namastecstar Robbie isn't dead though. Him and Garth Hudson are still alive
I wonder why I thought he was. Woops.
Excellent
Beautiful
I really enjoyed this version👏👏👏👏
awesome!!! rip levon!
If you have talent, then all you need is a great song to go with it..
This is fantastic
outstanding vocals !
Love it
well done. bravo.
Awesomeness
Love it mucho
Famous Arkansas musicians: Johnny Cash, Jim Ed Brown (the Browns), Levon Helm, Glen Campbell, The Wilburn Brothers. There are many others but these are the ones I know of.
Levon is a duel citizen. It may not be official but him and Ronnie Hawkins are honorary Canadians after tearing up dancehalls across Ontario many year ago.
I've listened to a lot of different renditions of Long Black Veil over the past week or so and have decided this one is by far my favorite. I've also enjoyed versions by The Black Crowes and Paige Anderson & The Fearless Kin... I definitely recommend checking those out.
You would like the version by The Chieftains with Mick Jagger on vocals. Roseanne Cash does a good version, too!
@@mikestander2413 thanks for the suggestions, I'll have to check those out!
@@msudawg1997 Paige Anderson's version is very good - lots of good versions of this classic.
Larry's been around, lead guitar on Bob Dylan's tours. Teresa is beautiful!
