    the govt. is avoiding women trafficking, it is not about being sexist or inequality because it is also the task of the Phil. govt. to bring the women home if problems arise, dead or alive so nobody can blame the govt. in its strict rules

    You're right, Mike. When a foreign man comes here to the Philippines to find a woman as his partner, you must really have pure intentions and, if you're quite secured and decent, you'll surely meet one. Also, it's built on mutual understanding, honesty and acceptance. It truly depends on your approach and right intentions.

    That law is NOT at all meant to be sexist, but that law is very very necessary especially for a country like Philippines.
    Lots of Filipino women in the past have been put into either labor abuse or white slavery or sex slavery overseas, and so have or are in some other countries. Before this law was made, there had been lots and lots of tragic stories. Most of the victims were poor or from the provinces, and most of them had been tricked or brought in by people who have become infamous and known in the Philippines as "illegal recruiters". But after that, and worse than the illegal recruiters, were the men who will purposely marry the Filipina woman so she can skip the CFO when she travels out of the country by herself. That's how and why the CFO became very strict.
    Now, i bet you won't be surprised, that a lot of those women had children and husbands. Some of them were able to escape but not for a while, others just went missing, and the others came back home in a body bag.
    Put through hell in a place they don't know, they don't know anyone, and not knowing if they will ever make it out, or if someone will come rescue them so they can see and feel their children or loved ones again.

      yup that's right & I think what they mentionef about moneyed women are okay to go refers to tourists who can really afford to do so hence it's no problem. The Govt protects women by ensuring that they should be able to finance themselves abroad so they can stand on their own & not fall prey to illegal means ... it's not descrimination but more on protection. It's better to be poor in your own country than in a foreign land.

    • @raelized
      @raelized 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      exactly. it's not a rights thing, but more about protection, in this case, specifically for human trafficking. there's been many situations in the past where filipino women and children had been trafficked, and this is one way to protect them.

      From everything I have heard is it not worth it. The general advice is that you will pay as much for taxes as shipping. I checked the shipping costs from USA and it is about $3000 to $5000 just for shipping. Then the taxes will be $5000 more. Plus the paperwork and aggravation. Then you need to register the car and get it inspected. Just purchase a car in the Philippines.

    The problem is that with third world countries is that you will find that often the cause is the dis empowerment of women and religion. Tell my of one country where religion has ever bothered to address this? Thanks for sharing Mark. Great interview.
