I recently had 4 Spotted Turtles breeding in a 55 gal long tank. They only lay a couple eggs at a time but mine were laying regularly in a Tupperwear container under a heat light. They are an easy species to keep but aren’t great swimmers. They live in boggy marshes but I’ve seen them in deeper water (2’ - 3’) with a LOT of submerged branches, waterlilies, etc. to rest/bask on when they get tired. *• If you plan on buying them make sure you can LEGALLY keep captive “Spotteds” in your state. Like the Eastern Box Turtle, North American Wood Turtle and several other “protected” species some states don’t even allow captive bred animals to be held in captivity. Blake should know the status of your state. Obviously in FL it’s totally legal.*
