@chadhedges is that a "no true Scottsman" bit? There are a large number of Chiropractors who claim to resolve all sorts of issues beyond the neuromuscular ones. Just play around in the links to the side for some examples.
I find it funny that the skeleton figure is likely real and has real bones, but yet they didn't want to actually demonstrate the machine working because you would likely see that it does nothing at all, lol.

You obviously don't understand that HVLA doesn't provide a permanent resting phase in a joint. HVLA is nothing more than taking a joint , putting it into a 5th grade stretch and inducing cavitation(noise). It's equivalent to popping your knuckles( It's just noise ). Chiropractors have had over 120 years to prove the subluxation model proposed by DD Palmer even exist. It doesn't exist.

Kevin Phillips Chiropractic adjustments don't bring about a permanent new resting phase in a joint. High velocity low amplitude isn't the same as joint reduction. Reduction is a technique used by real medical professionals to take care of real subluxations (actual dislocated bones).

I've been seeing a chiropractor for a year and a half now. Every time I've sought treatment due to chronic lower back pain, I leave refreshed and healthier
Contrary to popular belief, chiropractic care entails much scientific analysis and even now is becoming more accepted by M.D.'s as a viable alternative (I've without doubt improved overall health as a result of my chiropractor)
It depends upon selecting a qualified practitioner (some indeed embody a salesman type practice; others truly care about providing invaluable care which can rectify longstanding deficiencies)

I've taken physics. Maybe I'm missing something, but I don't understand how a single spring-loaded pulse counts as a "vibration". Also, if the impulse contains so little force that the patient "can't feel it", how does it have enough force to move the atlas? I've done a full human cadaver dissection in anatomy class, and I know how much muscle there is surrounding these bones and how incredibly tough and interconnected the ligaments are that hold everything together. It doesn't make sense.

summersify summers are you a radiologist specializing in X-rays? Or just a radiologist? Chiropractors aren’t taught how to read X-rays like radiologists are. It’s like a crash course for them. Altogether, they have 4 years of getting their DoC, which includes everything to chiropractic. (Excluding regular college) Radiologists have to go through 4 years of medical school, and I believe 4-6 years of actually becoming a radiologist. How can you learn 4-6 years of knowledge in less than 4? Heck, a radiologist might say the X-ray shows something else. I don’t know, I’m not a radiologist. But chiropractors aren’t taught to the extent of a radiologist.

My only experience with a chiropractor was a horrible one. I have Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome(a genetic disease that makes joints dislocate easily) and when I was 16 years old my father forced me to see his chiropractor friend so he can "cure" me. I went home crying to my mom because I was in so much pain. It turned out he dislocated 4 of my ribs, my jaw, and my right shoulder. The ER doctor thought that I was in a car accident or something like that.

I believe that the idea of this machine that can "move bones" is based off of a real medical device and technique called "Kidney stone blasting" (technical name is Lithotripsy) that's used to break up kidney stones without surgery. It's used on kidney stones that are too large to pass easily, but doesn't work on the larger variety of stones (some still require surgery). The machine for kidney stone blasting is very big (much larger than this wand-like device that they showed in the video) and yet, this chiropractic device is able to move bones? It seems very hard to believe, especially considering that if this is a real functional device then that would mean that the huge machine that is used for breaking up kidney stones is WEAKER than this chiropractic device?
Nah, that's a therapy called extracorporeal shockwave therapy. The "orthogonal percussive device" sounds like it's similar to an activator, it just hits you in a small area. That can be accomplished pretty easily with a spring and the right mechanical advantage.
As to if it actually works, no comment.
He should be able to use the skeleton with the machine to actually show the movement. "Brain tissue can communicate with the body?" Lol. This is total b.s.

All I can tell you is that I've tried a gazillion migraine treatments to no avail and I have not gotten any migraines since the chiropractor... I was getting migraines about a couple times per week. I think it can be helpful in some situations and it depends on your issue. I have also been about an inch shorter than normal and I am back up to 5'9" after chiropractic adjustments. People keep spouting "money grabbing" but my chiropractor doesn't charge very much. I can get a mani-pedi for the same price.

@chadhedges If one studies the practices of "straight" vs "mixer" chiropractic doctors, you'll realize the people want it "straight". This is not a joke...straight chiropractic practices are much more successful than that of mixers. The "subluxation theory" is chiropractic. Anything different is more or less PT.

DPT student here with a few thoughts:
1. Chiropractic does work, but not for the reason they claim. Our bodies are not frail, and if a chiro can 're-align' you with a little click of a gun an 'adjustment' of the neck/back, we'd all be paraplegics from little knocks and bumps from daily life.
2. The reason why it does appear to 'work' is due to a highly non-specific modulation of the nervous system's perception of pain. Pain isn't specifically biomechanical, but also has biopsychosocial components to it. So a patient's expectations and how the practitioner simply approaches the patient can influence the CNS to alter symptoms. If I was a good enough actor, and could sell it as well as the chiro above could I could cure neck pain by rubbing your left big toe if I wanted to. This could also explain the x-rays and LLD results on re-test. The practitioner has brought attention to the area by talking to the patient about it as well as 'treating it', causing neurophysiological adaptations.
3. Building on the point above, all hands-on treatment has evidence to suggest it will work to some extent in the short term. However, true long term benefits will involve some sort of movement re-education. Your tissues adapt by training itself to tolerate the loads it is subjected, not from 'adjustments'.
4. Just as there are shit and great DPTs and doctors, there are just as many shit and great chiros.

If anyone is considering go to a Chiropractor, please don't. From experience I was paralyzed by one of this guys, I spent a month in a hospital and had neck surgery to be able to move again.

Pretty astonished this vid has 175k views. What you all don't know is how many lives this chiropractic has ruined. Actually, calling him a chiro is unfair to actual chiros. This pyschopath has ruined so many lives with his nefarious treatment and it is well known in the community. He'll tell you you need 4-6 treatment sessions, then next thing you know your 2 weeks in and he's adjusted your C1 upwards of 50 times - some have been adjusted 100's. Imagine what that does to the rest of your body? Pretty scary to tell you the truth. He'll continue to tell you that it's alright in what you feel and that he is the only one that can fix you. I can go on and on but will spare everyone. Funny thing is his website was taken down early September. If anyone has had similar experiences do share. Such criminal and unscrupulous practices should be reprimanded.

this is the technique that my chiropractor uses, but it has not worked yet. I have had this procedure done like 5 times and I can barely move my neck...it cost about $40 each time. What a waste of money!!!

You may be more right than you know! A health care professional is paid to instruct you on how to self manage your own health (ie developing independence and self-efficacy within the patient). Flexibility, strength and balance around any joint in the body is necessary for its optimal health and can be taught to the patient. Advice on how to do this is better sought after in a Physical Therapist or a Chiro who follows evidence based practice.

II went to Dr. Sooley with neck and back pain. He took xrays and my neck and back were so out alignment. Under his care and with realighments , I feel so much better with my neck and back being aligned. I really like that he does not crack my neck.

@chadhedges Yes and no. Yes, DC's recieve 500 more of the same curricula than MD's, DO's, and Pt's. No, the DPT degree was concocted as a means to untether the PT from relying on MD referral...AKA DPT belongs to the primary portal of entry provider.

I tried this and spent lots of money. It does not work and they have quackish ways. After that I went to my old school chiropractor he cracked me for sessions and my pain was gone after a couple of months.

You live your life through your nervous system. Your spine is what protects your nervous system. Whenever there’s a misalignment in your spine, subluxation occurs which is what leads to many health problems from organs to limbs in your body. Everything you do in life starts from the brain and travels through your nerves. There’s no way your body can stay healthy if there’s an obstruction (subluxation) in your nerves. Chiropractic is a necessity in life. Stress is life, life is stressful, therefore you need a chiropractor to help your body do it’s job. Your body itself is the only doctor you need. Yea this “chiropractor” seems fake but a chiropractor that knows the Gonstead Method of chiropractic is the legitimate chiropractor that you should visit. Chiropractic should not have any “tools” involved, just body to body adjustments. Please be informed before criticizing.
You need an education, there can be misalignment with zero symptoms or perfect alignment with severe symptoms. The idea of subluxation has been disproven repeatedly
if the patient doesn't feel it, how can any realignment occur?
This instrument just uses a robotic arm while other chiropractors just use it from sight and send the pulse down by itself.
