Would have loved to have seen photos and scans from the day you started using the electric flosser. As a dentist, I can say that the most common spot for tartar to build up is on the backside of the lower anterior teeth. Since you started using the flosser 20+ weeks after your last cleaning, chances are pretty good that the tartar was there before you started using the electric flosser. Hard to say though without before AND after photos.

Yes I agree that may have been helpful. However, even with scans from the day I started, I still wouldn’t know if the buildup was any better or worse unless I compared it to before and after scans from when I used only my string floss. As a reviewer, I can only share my thoughts, experiences, and in this case - my dentist’s observations. Thanks for watching.

28:23 timestamp: you installed the second battery backward, that's why you couldn't get the cap seated correctly.

Thanks. I would imagine I tried every which way at the time. Regardless, I didn’t have the same issue with the replacement I was sent.

I just sent an email to Slate and used the term "angry hornet" because the unit is really loud; I'm thinking the batteries are just rattling inside the housing. Hopefully I don't have a defective unit and they can give me some insights. Looks like the battery powered unit has been replaced/discontinued with a rechargeable unit. Kickstarter backer 303.
I also have some tight teeth and even with the rocking motion, I can get the floss in but getting it out is sometimes difficult. Definitely a learning curve, literally and figuratively because you need to keep the floss head aligned with the arc of your upper and lower palate which can be tricky. I've noticed that the first and second uses of a floss head are fine but the floss becomes thin/worn by use three and then I'll replace rather than breaking a floss head.
It is helpful for getting the back of my molars, something I can't do with string floss (52 year old male with medium/large hands and good manual dexterity). I use a metal tongue scraper then finish with the Slate as the Slate's 'squiggie' does a better job of getting the center crease of my tongue clean but I can't get the floss head at the back of my tongue because it's too large and gag reflex kicks in.
The interview with Brynn was insightful.

If sonicare sold this, it would cost more.
