- Part 6 of the vintage Shasta 1400 travel trailer repair & restoration project. In this episode I build and install the left side wall, and also get off track a little with music and anecdotes.
Only 7 years late but these videos are so hilarious and newbie friendly! The tracing and recreating of the walls the way you do is genius! I think it lives minimal room for error which is exactly what I need. Excited to follow the progress even though it’s already done 😂
Wow now that is a rv reno job if I ever saw one. Kudos for taking such a massive job on.
Thank you!
This channel rocks and has the funk. I have a trail90 that was given to me from my old grandpa neighbor. You've inspired me to start getting it into working order. It's a late 60's model.
Ax Greenious Thanks! Good luck with the bike, let me know if you have any questions about getting it running again.
Im surprised! The music wasn't actually half bad. I kinda liked it. Keep up the great work!!
engineflight101 thanks. glad it didn't hurt the ears too bad :)
The piano/digital music accompaniment was awesome! Great job!
I like the videos so far. I'm looking forward to restoring my 1973 18 foot prowler. Its alot like your shasta, so that helps alot :) thank you guys for the solid follow through
Absolutely LOVE the Shasta renovation series!!! Get your butt in gear and get on with part 7!!!! waiting......waiting........ :-)
Just found your video's on the shasta. Great job! I was looking for part 7 and realized your still in the process. Just bought a 1989 32 ft. today. Same issues with wall corners and windows, Water WATER WATER! Oh well looked ok when I bought it but that's how you learn. Now I know what to look for. Like you said in earlier videos, If you can see the damage its WAY worse on the inside. 2x4's were just dust and wet remains of what used to be wood. If your looking at buying something push on the walls near windows and corners, If they feel spungie expect some serious work. Hope this helps. Thanks for the videos!
Really like the fact your saveing that old camper
TheMrphantom309 Thanks! I like fixing up old stuff :)
i'm still here watching these videos stay well
Great video... love your sense of humor... and after my ears stopped bleeding I kinda liked the music also...
+mazwt44 thanks for watching the video, and suffering through the tunes.
Eagerly waiting for part 7! We are about to do just this!
Love these videos! You rock Jennies Garage
you might as well do the roof too , to make sure its sealed right . are you going to put the front bunk back in , always good for sleeping kids , storage , ect . if you do , use some thicker lag bolts and washers on all sides and front to support the weight
tracycolorado I'm going to seal up the roof, but probably not remove it completely. I haven't decided about the bunk bed yet. I might reinstall it, or just leave that area as a shelf. Either way I agree some good size screws are the way to go.
This was just what I needed to watch ty 👍
IT's always a treat to watch, learn and laugh along with your amazing videos!!!
Michael Cook Thanks so much, I appreciate it. I'm glad you like the projects!
I so agree. I'm really enjoying your videos on the camper rebuild...love that it's step by step instructions. ......really enjoy the new show flipping rv's but they really don't get into much detail on the restoratin....can't wait for the next installment :-)
Debbie Bowman thanks for the comment, I should have the next one finished soon :)
Dear Ole Dad is smart and keeping far away ! :)
Love your videos
We are your Biggest Fans here in Philadelphia, Jake!
Charisma is everything 🤣💙
That trailer has good legs!
Great videos :)
Nice job, Seems like a whole lot of work, but I've seen these sell for nearly 5000. Great find on the keys. I never leave the thrift store empty handed. Nice Steinway for 100, but to move if and tune and clean it up would probably cost of small fortune. very good video too
middyband Yeah I love the thrift store. The only trouble is I don't have the space to put everything :)
Your videos are as custom and DIY as your prodjects
I have a 72 doing similar. How r u anchoring vertical supports to the horizontal beam/board at the top?
Love the detail if ur resto, it is helping immensely.
HEY!!!!
I just got a '69 shasta compact for a couple cases of beer and a bottle of vodka this week. I found your videos and am embiggened by your videos!
Keep up the good work. If i had your address I would send you a pizza.
I enjoyed the music 🎶🎼
Was your ADORABLE cat 🐈 at the time
Spayed/Neutered
bc usually that’s why they play/fights
Neutered or not cats fight and that's why my cat is not allowed outside at night. My cat was fixed since kittenhood and he still constantly got in midnight cat fights and I got so sick of the $400 vet bills.
***** I actually quite liked the music!
Cap10323 Thank you, it is definitely amateur but thought it might be fun.
Thanks for sharing.
She is SUCH a cutie.
Hello there! I love your videos, very knowledgable and entertaining. You probably heard this question before... but I'm curious to know if there was a possibility to rebuild the walls from inside without removing the outside walls.. did you just do because the water damage was under/frames? I just start working (1st time) on a Nomad 1970. It looks like inly the inside panels were damaged... i hope. Thanks!
This guy knows how to party
Hey there, how much did all of your materials cost ? I’m looking to renovate one !
Nice job with the music!
I'm trying to figure out what you do for a living, but I can't figure it out... you seem to be a jack of all trades! :)
08 Thomas EF haha, the magic of video editing gives the illusion aptitude!
music is great, yes i like it
0:39 it would have been so ironic if the ceiling collapsed at that moment. Not to be a dick or anything but I could just imagine that in like a comedy skit or something LOL great vids BTW. New subscriber.
It's a camper wall reconstruction montage. Maybe the worlds first with original montage music.
+ymp5000 haha yeah we're always doing something ground breaking here at JG!
Braces Transfer Dance LOL :)
did you are complete stoner and I love it you rock
Wouldn't it make sense to flip those so you could put insulation in-between the frame easier?
The beginning of the song reminded me of doogie houser
is that really you on the keyboard? pretty good.
:( I really liked the music.
What was the tool you used to cut the plywood for all of the windows and etc.
What kind of nail gun are you using and what are the nail gauge size?
I know you made this almost 5 years ago, but that is why you keep your cat inside at night, so they won't get in fights and you don't go broke at the vet
9:10 the camera smear follows his face and mouth around as he spews the cat babble ..lol
looking good, when you going to take that Porshe out and let the big dog run?
Iseekoutthetruth haha it's buried right now! Sometime soon I hope, I've pretty much forgotten how it drives.
***** well if you do not have the time I will gladly take it out for you and make some porsche vlogs, and sing your driving song while i drive it lol
I liked that music 😔
Yo Jake! When the Honda Trail 90 part 8 coming out?
Zinyak Bieber Sorry it's taking so long. I've got to get the Shasta watertight before the rain! the clock is ticking!
How does he know where to cut when he flips the wall over? The pencil markings were on the other side. Help!
I used a router with a flush trim bit. The wood framing on the other side guides it.
@@jenniesgarage ahh! Thank you!
Hahaha....weirdo. Good ideas for the framing and panel all at once. Is that a GPZ under the tarp?
Not to reopen an old post but if you were going to do the whole thing anyway why not just strip down to the base and rebuild it up from there would have saved the trouble of having to brace and could have done all walls and roof at same time
I agree with destroy
Ryan Dimidjian That is definitely a reasonable option
where is the end of the restoration ?
All in all it's just a-nother brick on the wall...
My Name is Earl dance moves :-)
what color are you going to paint it?
1down4up I'm thinking white base with some kind of custom graphic in blue or red. Once it's together I'm going to take a picture of the side and then play with that in photoshop to get some ideas.
hahahahhahah it's like talking to a wall! lmao
but there WAS sexy in the Shasta video... I found a 2004 Boxster with the intermediate shaft disaster, do you know much about that? guy just missed the boat on the class action lawsuit...
knikula From what I understand, you should assume the engine is toast. If you can get the car cheap enough that installing a new/used engine would be economical, maybe go for it. You still could sell some parts from the original engine and make some money. It's a lot of work though. For me, it would have to be a super clean car otherwise, and a ridiculously low price.
***** thanks much for the Boxster tips...
jump by Van Halen
07:00 I can't believe you missed the "Another Brick in the Wall" reference.....you must be getting tired
Thanks for ending the music. Now you just need to end the cheesy jokes.
Mr. Trump learned how to build a wall thanks to this video
When r u going to post another trail 90?
Yet another great job done :-)), its a shame the shasta wasnt a rare and valuable caravan, you could easly copy them, as said before, i dont think there is much you cant do :-))
Clever music idea but it made your production like a cheesey tv makeover show, sorry :-(, your videos are miles above the rubbish on tv.
zx8401ztv Thanks for the great compliment. If I ever finish this project I was thinking that I could use the same methods to build a custom teardrop trailer. I wasn't sure about the music either, but thought I'd give it a try :)
*****
That sounds like a smashing idea :-))
Just so you know, im not being nasty about the music or anything else i comment about, commenting is my way of showing appreciation of the time you spend filming/editing/making really enjoyable videos for us unknowns :-))
zx8401ztv
I always look forward to your comments! It's great to get ideas from other people about how the videos appear to them. It's different when I watch them because I'm watching myself doing stuff, and don't have the perspective of somebody watching for the first time.
*****
Your videos are fresh and the detail is great for people wanting to do similar projects or repairs, your humor is great and sometimes singing is a side effect ha ha :-))
Your motor restoration videos for example, you make it enjoyable to watch and with humor for times when you make minor mistakes, you admit that your no super expert but you allways underrate yourself, some people are so big headed, i dont subscribe to assholes.
Ive rebuilt two and fourstroke engines so i know how they work but i still love to watch other people repair them, also any new problems i get to see and learn about.
Sorry im babbling, i shall leave you in peices lol.
Who is that super hot girl in your vids?
KnightRiderWRX that's The Mrs. and she appreciates the compliment :)
I have a brilliant idea regarding your cat. Why don't you stop letting your cat run loose in your neighborhood and there is a very good chance that the cat would not get into fights, not get run over by a car, not pick up fleas and ticks etc. Give it a try.
+Randy Stuart is some times when your cat run outside for example if a kid open the door and let like this , are many variable for cat to run , i guess you don't have a cat and if you have you don't have a brain i heard so many times cats fighting from my neighbor because he has 5 or more was a time when he has 10 cats
Cool
dude....it's a cat......350 bucks will buy an awful lot more cats....if it's gonna do that crap....replace it
